First off, I use Exchange 2003 w/ SP2 and the MSFP ROM on my phone.

I had set Exchange to require a password on all devices. Per request from several people, I took off that requirement. However, on the devices, when I try to remove the passwords, the checkmark for 'Prompt if device is unused for ' ' is grayed out and I cannot change it.

I removed the server source from the device, started the connection to the server over again and still can not change this setting.

How can I change this without doing a reinstall of my ROM?

That definitly looks like something set within the registry. Problem is finding the key. A brief google brings up nothing, other than people with the same problem. You might need to go hunting yourself.

I wiped my device with RemoteAdmin on Exchange and reconfigured it. All is well now, though I didn't know wiping it actually did a hard reset.. lol I had to reinstall all of my apps again, but everything is ok now.

I was having this problem and found the following solution:

You have to edit the registry and change the following value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000 1023

(DWORD Value) (Base Dec)
Change it to 1
