German to English

Hello all,

I bought a T-Mobile MDA Compact and it came with German Windows software...
I don't speak a word of it!
Does anyone know how i can change it to English?
I looked all over the internet but i found nothing to download...
I am desperate as i can't use my brand new phone and i payed quite a lot of money to buy it!

Please help...

Dear M,

First of all thankyou so much for replying and trying to help out. However i try do do all u say in the specific link but when i click on MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and try to run it i get an error saying the file cannot be found even though i can see it on my pc...
HELP (again) and THANX again...

Hi Steph,

Are you sure you've extracted all the files from the shipped-rom, with winzip or winrar, to a single folder? You should get files like nk.nbf, enterbl.exe etc. If you got those files, just put the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe in the same folder. Make sure you allow Act.Sync to connect to your magician via usb. Connect your magician with usb & execute MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe. This should be working, maybe you need to run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe twice, first time gives error 120 & fixes this, second time it really updates your rom version.

Dear M,

I've tried everything u said... and more!
For some reason i can't manage.
When i try to run the MaUpgradeUt_noID it tells me that the RUU.dll is missing.
I put everything in one folder as u said.
I don't know if it's because the application cd is also in german and i can't understand a thing.
Desperation in all its forms...

Hi fissentzo,

Don't know what you're experiencing, haven't heard this before. I do understand that you want to give up on this. Don't think that's it's your Act.Sync language giving you these errors, but you can always download the English Act.Sync from Microsoft.


Problem is I really have no clue what's going wrong on your side. What happens when you just run the plain shipped-rom? Gives it the error 120 or .... Are you sure it's a magician: device id PM10A or PM10B under start -> settings -> system -> device information -> identity (or something simular in German :-( )

You can try to update it with a SD-card flash, documentation http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianSDflash but that can be a hassle too.

I guess you're not living near Nijmegen in the Netherlands otherwise I would've done it for you.
