Hi guys,
Hopefully someone can help me with this one. I've had my MDA Compact since August 05; however a few months ago I noticed a problem occuring when I wrote a text message using the onscreen keyboard - if I pressed a letter, it would select the one to the left of it (i.e. press 'Y', it would register 'T').
Initially I thought that it would be a screen calibration issue, and sure enough after calibration the screen presses seemed to work correctly. Later on the same day however, the issue came back. This time I checked for scratches, but there weren't any and the MDA screen was clean of dirt too.
Fast forward to the present, and the problem seems a little more bizarre that I first thought:
* I've noticed that it's not just an issue with texting, but the whole screen. * The severity depends on the horizontal gradient of the screen. For example, if I press a key on the the right-hand side of the virtual keyboard, it works correctly - if I press 'P', it'll register 'P'. However, the further left I go on the screen, the more the offset is apparent - so if I press the 'Y' key it'll register 'T' (one letter over), and further left if I press the 'E' key on the virtual keyboard, it will register 'W', two letters further over.
The last bit of information is that, after all this analysing, I thought it'd be a physical screen error; however I've noticed a difference in severity depending on what I'm doing. For example, if I'm composing a new text message then the incorrect offset is there but much less so than if I was responding to a text message, for example.
I keep my screen clean, there are no scratches, I didn't drop or bang the MDA to cause this, so there just doesn't seem to be a reason for it. Does anyone have any experience of this?
My ROM and Radio are both 1.12
Thanks guys.
J
