I've only just got my `Mini S` last week and have been surfing this site for upgrades and tweaks. It's about time O2 did an update for the `Mini S`.

Already using TotalCommander, several camera tweaks and system tweaks in the register, plus an additional media player.

Finally got to the link and it's all good so far. :D :D :D

p.s. I wonder if there will be a battery icon over the clock on the today screen..... ?
Yes there is and it's bloody annoying. Will have to get rid of it.

Same OS and Radio ROM. The only difference from any other AKU2 is the customizations and the O2 Today screen junk..err stuff. =)

Hello,
Upgraded to the lastest firmware from O2.
Few Issue: Installed in a corporate mode.
MMS Inbox not available.
But MMS Configuration tool box is there.
Anyidea how to fix this issue?
Everything seem to be alright...
unfortunately the battery Icon is at the top bar.

Yes, the same update ROM that HTC issued to Qtek, iMate, Orange etc etc

Only differences are the providers customisations. So if you have Qtek, iMate, Orange etc deriviations of the Wizard you might as well stick with their recent ROM updates

a bit off topic i know, but i am downloading the new o2 upgrade as i write this message so please forgive me....

update the phone app or give us 802.11g without having to hack the registry?

Interesting, i always was led to believe that the hardware governed the wireless speed, not software.

Could you post the 802.11g hack please. this would be very useful...

Thats really cruel. The O2 Active stuff is cripling. This is trying to force non corporate bods to use the o2 active. There must be something hidden in the o2 active app that o2 are using to monitor us.

Well so far my Mini S seems to run faster since the upgrade.

Little things that I have observed so far (and this is with no Tweaks applied and I suppose not necesarily ROM related)

Startup time after restart - Can't see any increase there.

Accessing Programs/Setting from Start menu - Definate speed increase.

Application loading time - Noticeable increase - except for Messaging which still has a pause now and again.

WIFI - Seems to find wireless networks a lot faster than before.

SIP Menu is faster although I would not be surprised if this starts lagging again after a while.

Since the day I got my Mini S the Call End key has always been a bit iffy at minimising a running app, usually requiring a double press. This seem to have vanished and it works fine.

The camera. Well I've read elsewhere about the camera running faster on Imates etc after upgrade and although I can't see any difference one thing I have noticed is that MMS Video isn't ridiculously choppy anymore. It used to be so naff on mine it wasn't worth using it.

Not sure about any improvements to call quality/signal etc yet as I haven't phoned anyone and no one has phoned me. My office isn' the best place to test this though as it is in a bad signal area. MMS and SMS work fine as mentioned in previous posts.

Q. Can you only use the push facility if using an Exchange server? I assume its useless if using yahoo or aol?

Q. The new battery icon in the top bar. Can this be removed? I am not sure whether I want it or not yet.

I have found that I have 1.5mb more space free storage and program memory is up from 22mb to 25mb. Rebooting (Soft reseting) is much faster.

Not noticed any other problems. Works well.

i have configured my gprs settings back to the one i had before my upgrade.. it would connect.. but not load the page.. it will say locating and then after awhile. it says page cannot load either disconnected or something..

is there a way to downgrade the rom? i dont have my old one backed up thought.

to me.. boot up seems slower.. it boots to the o2 screen.. then to the Windows Powered Screen.. then finally to the today screen..

i also miss the old end key sound.. =X..

I believe this is the case, there are also websites that offer the server, search the forums to find them.

Q. The new battery icon in the top bar. Can this be removed? I am not sure whether I want it or not yet.

This is the the most annoying "feature" of the ROM that people would like removed. There are a few threads about the removal/replacement, but no one has removed it fully yet, just masked it.

I have found that I have 1.5mb more space free storage and program memory is up from 22mb to 25mb. Rebooting (Soft reseting) is much faster..

You should also see your battery life go up.

I must say that I have downloaded the new O2 ROM and there are just a few things i would like to mention, especially from a non techy person.
There seems to be an issue if you try to password the machine, when you reboot it freezes and only a hard reset will clear it.
The other which I am MOnitoring is how much the battery life has gone up...Great

Also if upgrading from Qtek or IMATE AKU2, any issue going back to the older Qtek or IMATE ROM?

I upgraded from the o2 Standard ROM to the iMate ROM, then this new o2 ROM.

I am happy that I upgraded, the battery lasts about 50% longer and the device functions faster.

I would not go back to the old o2 ROM, but as others would say, if it ain't broke then don't fix it.

I'm a newbie and trying to get to grips with my O2 XDA mini S. I have to say I'm not a total convert yet, as the device seems a little quirky, but I've managed to remove the O2 bloatware. I'm interested in the ROM upgrade but curious to know what people have against the battery bar.
I found it quite useful to know how much was left and whether it was to time to put it on charge. At the moment I have no battery bar and I, for one, miss it.
Or am I missing the point?

I just successfully upgraded to the new O2 AKU2 ROM. Could someone please help with the following:

1. I read in this post that GPRS monitor (and Clearview PDF) are missing in the ROM. Could someone please point me to a site to download those from?

2. What is the difference between corporate mode and basic mode? I'm using this phone in India with a local SIM and don't care much about the O2 stuff. Is it worth going away from the corporate mode and doing a reinstall in basic mode?

Thanks.

I've read lots in this thread about successful updates, but I'd like to know about what should be done before upgrading.

I presume that ActiveSync will take care of messages, contacts, etc., but what about other settings - messaging accounts, etc.

Also, I use PHM Traylaunch - will I have to manually re-enter all of the items and create the shortcuts again?

Is there an equivalent of the Backup & Restore that I had with my old Sony Ericsson P900, which made firmware updates so easy?

I've been running the o2 update since release, and have noticed the following:-

1. Every now and then the XDA lockups when browsing, requiring a reset. This is not a regular lockup.

2. The ability to use the 'Send & Receive' email is disable with the push email enable?

Prior to the o2 release I was using the QTEK evaluatuin ROM (the first with push email) and never experienced the above.

Have Q-Tek now released a proper / production ROM, if so can anyone point me in the right direction for a download.

from t-mobile and didn't like the looking of the t-mobile screen. The buttons are pink and I wanted to have the same nice looking as the HTCs by O2.

I tried to update the ROM but I got an error. I do not know if it is possible neither how to do it...

Does anybody knows if it possible to switch to the O2 looking?

I will appreciate any help.

Yes, it's possible.

You'll need to flash your phone with (probably) latest O2 ROM but first you need to CID-unlock yor phone!

Search forum for advices about CID-unlocking and software.
Regards

BTW - maybe you need only new theme for your WM5 device? ;)

Thanks for your help. It worked, but it worked just till some point.

I am no longer seeing the t-mobile layout but I cannot see the O2 layout.

I also tried installing the Xda_Minis_Upgrade_v2.21.4.101.exe but I am still getting a 294 error.

Do you have any sugestion on what should I do now?

Thanks.
