Sorry I'm a little late with this..wanted to thoroughly test it out before unleashing it on the masses. Here's the ROM with fonts, themes, ringers, and Omapclock added to the OS so as not to take up storage space.
This ROM contains the following
--Calibri/Segoe fonts from Vista/Office 12 installed in Windows directory(You'll need to use a 3rd party app to change the system or other font)
--Approximately 15 .wav ringers installed in \Windows\Rings
--Origami themes from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45605
--Omapclock.exe installed in \Program Files\OmapClock
--Customized links to 3 OmapClock clock speed settings: 200Mhz, 240Mhz, 252Mhz (You can select these by going to START->PROGRAMS. You will see "Clock200, Clock240, Clock252. These can be mapped to a hardware button)
--Removed the extended ROM customizations that add Express mail and Good mail
Link to file:
ftp://xda:xda@xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/Cingular/Cingular_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE-RINGRS-OCLOCK.exe
Enjoy.
--------UPDATE------->
I've created the same customization using the 2.08 Qtek test ROM which has A2DP. I don't have BT headphones to test A2DP, but I did verify the installation and functionality of the ROM. By the way, I can confirm that flashing your Wizard up to 20 times does no harm...with my luck, the 21st time will kill a flash cell or two. haha
Here's the link:
ftp://xda:xda@xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/Cingular/Cingular_RUU_2080701_101_11310_WWE-RINGRS-OCLOCK.exe
Enjoy pt. deux

New to the boards so exscuse me...
Do you plan on making a version like this with the Cingular exstensions simular to the one you already posted?
Cingular_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE.exe
Just wondering.

This is the same as the Cingular customized ROM you mention. The only things missing are the "Get Express Mail" today screen item and the "Get Good mail" item from programs. It retains all of the Cingular customizations including the splash and MMS/gprs settings.

Thanks for the reply, you are a very reliable asset to this community.
I have installed the update to see if this will correct my continual lock ups with the original cingular 8125 rom.
I will let you know how this turns out.

could you make a 2.8 rom with A2DP? thanks :)
darkjedi, just for (my) clarification do you mean 2.18 or is 2.8 for a different device. I'm assuming the 2.18 would be for Cingular and the 2.8 could be for something else being that the current version is 2.17.
Sorry for the confusion.
Thx,

I installed the above file and not too sure what has happened.
1. I looked in \windows\rings and there is only one ring there which is the default.
2. Under device information I have the following
ROM Ver: 1.8.11.1 WWE
Radio Version 2.07.10
are these versions correct?
3. No additional themes nor is OMAP Clock present.
Did I do something wrong?
From reading i thought you didnt need to unlock device prior to running the rom update.
Thanks

Since I just last night updated my new 8125 to the last summiter-posted ROM update and then stayed up til 2:30am working on installing all my apps...
If I do a ROM Update (like using the new rom summiter posted), will it wipe all my applications and settings? Can those be easily reinstalled eg using SPB Backup, or do I need to reinstall everything from scratch using ActiveSync?
Sorry for the FAQ. I'm a new convert from Palm land.
thanks,

Sorry about the timing.. =/
Since both ROMs are based off the Qtek AKU2 release, there's a chance that a full backup of your current setup can be restored onto this ROM. I don't know what is backed up by SPB Backup, but if it includes all the files that are typically in ROM, then it could break things. A major component in creating the directory structure at boot time is a file called initflashfiles.dat...if you're old copy of this sytem file is restored onto this ROM, you won't have the proper directory structure to use the ringers and omapclock as designed. If only your user-installed files and associated registry entries are backed up, it might work.
All ROM-based files are located in the \Windows directory in the raw OS ROM. At boot time, subdirectories like "Program Files" and "My Documents" are created and the appropriate files are "linked" into the directories they belong in. If you look at the hidden files in the Windows directory, you will see the files that also appear in the various subdirectories.

Initial response is that this is most unbelievable! Out of the box this is so very fast. Normally I have to skip the exteneded ROM setup, mod the registry, etc. Most impressed!
Thanks summiter! Great job as usual.

hi, i'm a soon to be wizard owner (i'm a magician owner) and i'd really like if u could explain me how can i create my own customized wizard rom, i'd really love being able to put whatever i want in extrom to have it ready on every hard reset. Can u explain to me how to do? Or can you point me to a link where i can find info on extrom? For example, is it possible to completely remove extrom like we do in magician with bigstorage? thank you very much!

Summiter your great, and we all appreciate the work you've done!
Any chance of getting some key apps put into the rom? My thoughts are:
LVMTime
PHM_Traylnch
flash7
Pocket informant
Pocket Breeze
SPB Pocket plus
of course I am not asking for licensed versions, but it would be great for those of us with licenses!

Get back to the bootloader - hold the camera button and press the soft reset...keep holding the camera button until you get the 3 color bootloader screen. Re-launch the upgrader. There is always a lengthy pause at 98%..let it do its thing and it will eventually make it to 100% and reboot.

That's odd. The radio upgraded but not your OS. Try to flash again, and if it's not successful, CID unlock your device.

Ext ROM on the wizard can be accessed and set to read/write on the older 1.x ROMs. New 2.X ROMs have Ext ROM locked and any attempted manipulation will cause problems.
ROM creation is done with the standard tools... imgfs_tools, and the creat_nknbf tool. Everything you need to do and know is captured in the dev forum.

I've got the exact same problem on a new phone summiter. I've unlocked, CID unlocked, downgraded to the original 1.08 and then reinstalled, no change. DL'ed a fresh copy from the ftp on another pc and ran the setup from there, no change. I SEE the customization cabs being executed but I have no extra ringtones, themes or the omap in th program group. Most confusing!

Thanks! It was stuck at the bootloader screen and I was trying to run the upgrader. I tryed BOTH, same result.... and get this ... I had access to another Cingular 8125 ... same thing! I redid my 8125 just to be sure ... no problems at all. I even flashed one to the T-Mobile for fun and then back. So strange. I'm putting both the new phones back to your 2.17AKU and calling it a night! The ONE thing these phones have in common is that their both brand new, under a month old. Not sure what that means though...
For fun I also forced the phones into bootloader mode and killed all the AS processes.

Although I never make mistakes (ha ha), there's a slight chance I grabbed the wrong file when building the installer package. I'm heading home now and I'll run the upgrader from the package I put on the ftp site to double check. I did a successful install of the customized 2.08, but I may have run it prior to packing things up.
Gimme an hour or so and I'll have things sorted out. Unless this turns out to be something unrelated to the package itself.. =/

I just successfully installed the custom 2.08 ROM on my device. I'm not sure why your devices are experiencing problems. It could perhaps be a CID lock issue. Did you use lokiwiz or awizard to unlock? Did you get the locked and unlocked save files? I've heard from others that they were able to successfully install my original 2.17 ROM without unlocking though, since I removed the carrier code when I built it.
If you still have a failed 2.08 upgrade on one of your devices, can you see if there is a hidden file in the Windows directory called Avrcp_MPplugin.dll?
Has anyone other than me successfully installed this custom 2.08 ROM?

YES, well I say yes,
I flashed mine (8125 less than a month old) this morning with this file ftp://xda:xda@xda-developers.com/Uploads/HTC%20Wizard/ROMS/Cingular/Cingular_RUU_2080701_101_11310_WWE-RINGRS-OCLOCK.exe
When i go to Device Information,
ROM: 2.17.7.2 WWE
ROM Date: 2/10/06
Radio Version: 01.13.10
Protocol Version 4.0.13.24
But I do not have any of the fonts, themes or overclocking, or am i looking in the wrong place.
I did not unlock either cid or sim. My unit came new straight out of the box. One note though, i had flashed the 2.17 version before this one if that makes any difference.
I havent had a chance to check everything out yet but I'm working on it.

Your flash wasn't totally successfull. Did you use the 2.17 or 2.08 upgrader? If 2.08, your ROM should show 2.08, not 2.17. If you used the 2.17 upgrader, your radio version should be different.
Either way, flash again and let me know what you get.
EDIT:
OK I see you were using the 2.08 upgrader. If it is successful, your ROM version should indicate 2.08.7.x. Can you flash one or two more times to see if it takes?

You can try to unlock, but I'm not sure lokiwiz or awizard will have any success while a 2.X ROM is installed.
If you're up to it, try this:
run the 2.08 or 2.17 installer linked to in the first post of this thread. If you don't plan to use stereo bluetooth headphones, use 2.17. 2.08 was created becasue it has A2DP in it. if you get the additional ringers and whatnot, then it was successful. if not, go to the next step.
flash back to stock Cingular using either the stock ROM from the HTC site or the one I put up on the xda-dev ftp.
run awizard or lokiwiz and CID unlock
run the 2.08 or 2.17 installer linked to in the first post of this thread.

Loaded the 2.17.7.2 WWE ROM version and like the speed improvements, retained Cingular WAP settings, and other 'stuff' that was included. I will echo all the other comments of poster's that summiter is a benefit to the HTC wizard community.
The only thing that is broken for me is the CommonTime application that provided Lotus Notes email and SameTime UDP push functionality on a PPC device. Most of it works but for some reason the locations part is 'broken'. I don't like getting work emails anyway so.....Hey I am good with it. The POP mail apps work great as well as SMS. :P

Summiter,
Many thanks for your help, again.
So far I have not been brave enough to try to overwrite my prior ROM upgrade with the new one, but maybe this weekend :) I was wondering, how hard would it be to put other extra applications (such as a tray launcher, PHMtray or SPB PocketPlus), etc, into the ROM upgrade? How much space is left in the ROM after your current customizations?
Thanks,
jason

It's fairly complicated. I've put some thought into what to add to the ROM that would make it useful while reducing build complexity. I am pretty sure I will avoid adding commercial apps (even in an unregistered state). I'm talking about the read-only OS ROM here. I don't want to get myself into a postition where I need to recreate new OS ROMs every time an application is updated. Right now it takes me over an hour to build and test an OS ROM. If I added software that required complex registry entries and directory creation the build time goes way up. I'm setting up my "build environment" to be a little more efficient, but there are so many steps involved that the potential for making an mistake is high. I don't want to risk bricking anyone's device.
I can probably be convinced to create some custom extended ROMs with popular software, especially since it's much easier to created Ext ROM than it is the OS. The only upside to adding stuff to extended ROM is that installation is automatic on a hard reset. There's no storage space savings like there is with adding stuff to the OS portion of the ROM, because all extended ROM does is automate the process of installing things into storage.

I upgraded my 8125 last night from my laptop with no problems. Using the same laptop with the same download on the two new 8125's... ain't working. I don't think you build it with the wrong file. Something with the new 8125's, though how new could they be? Mayhaps there's SOMETHING different, strange ...
Thanks summiter!

Thanks for your help!

Indeed. Well, it's going to bug me not knowing what's preventing the upgrade from taking. I don't know how motivated you are to dig into it, but if you are, I'd start with triple confirming that the a CID unlock is successful. The devices would need to have the stock 1.X ROM installed to do so though. You say that my original 2.17 (with just the custom Ext ROM) was successful? Strange.
I don't imagine there were any hardware changes (new revs and whatnot) that would affect this, but anything is possible I suppose. HTC doesn't appear to take any aggessive action to prevent unauthorized ROM changes.

Ok, here we go.
1. Tried to re-flash the 2.08 again over the 2.17 and nothing changed.
2. Ran unlock (enablerapi.cab and lockwiz.bat with "C" option)
3. Flashed back to "your" 1.18 Cingular Rom. everything went ok. (man it was nice to see the ol clock in the upper corner :D )
4. Tried to flash up to your 2.08 (w/oclock a2dp, fonts, etc...). did not work. Not a complete flash, no oclock, ad2p, fonts, themes, etc...
5. Re-ran unlock with "C" option
6. Flashed "your" 2.17 (the one at the top of this thread). and BINGO. I have all the fonts, themes, oclock shortcuts, etc...
I'm now trying everything out to see how this flash works.
I have not tried to flash the 2.08 since this last flash worked. I'm going to check this one out first.

I returned the two phones to their owners so's I'll have no more access.
One thing however. After the first phone failed to fully install I used lokiwiz to unlock the CID. It gave a write error but continued. I didn't initially unlock the CID as your Cingular 2.17 AK2 went on just fine on these phone a couple of weeks ago or so. I did unlock my CID origianllt as I got it a couple of months ago and had to. I don't remember getting a write error when I unlocked mine.

Ok. Based on scattered posts, I came to the conclusion that CID unlocking was not necessary to install the 2.17 ROMs I created. When building the ROMs, there is a field where a carrier ID is specified, and I left them blank per advice from someone who had built ROMs previously. I'm now wondering if the folks that reported not having to CID unlock had in fact CID unlocked at some point in the past and were merely reporting they didn't have to unlock again just prior to installing 2.17.
Regardless, I'm sorry you couldn't get the new ROM onto those devices. I've found the built-in Omapclock and ringers to be a nice little addition.
I'm always up for problem-solving, so if you have the opportunity to try installing on another device, let me know how it goes.

Well, like I said, I still did not try the newer 2.17 custom ROM, but I installed your prior 2.17 custom ROM basically immediately after opening my new from the store 8125. I did nothing other than run your ROM updater, no CID unlock or any other mods applied, and it worked fine.
Regarding the above (integration of applications into the ROM), maybe it would be nice to have the PHMTray, but I guess you would not want to add applications that change frequently since the build process is difficult. I can't think of too many apps that *everybody* would find essential (ie so many people like Wisbar vs PocketPlus vs PHMTray, etc). Maybe if there was some way to automate the build like on the online custom XDA rom builder they had before, but until then...

Thanks for confirming the CID lock issue. Now that I think about it, I do recall you or someone else saying that 2.17 installed on a fresh 8125.
I think the online ROM kitchen thing is an awesome idea, but as it exists for the other HTC device, it's too specific to be easily extended to other models. The ideal would be to build the ROM application from the ground up so as to use configuration files (xml, plain text, etc) which could be created for each new divice that HTC introduces. I don't have the bandwidth to take on a big development like that, but perhaps we can organize some key folks and piece it out. I'll think about some ideas and throw them out in the dev forum.
As for apps..yeah you got it. The next thing I might attempt is the compact framework 2.0. That thing is beastly as far as registry changes and file placement though so it may take some time. It's about the only other thing that I believe would appeal to a large group of folks.

I had read on the original Custom ROM Cingular thread that someone had done it on a fresh from the box, non CID unlocked 8125, so it has been done at least twice!

"Compact" Framework 2 would be a nice addition. Maybe also a registry editor, or Total Commander, or some other similar types of utils that would appeal to those who bother with custom ROM upgrades :)[/quote]

I'm one of those folks that reported that they didn't need to unlock the CID. In the last 3 weeks I've done 3 brand new phones literally right out of the box straight to your 2.17 AK2 with no prep. My older 8125 took this upgrade quite nicely, and yes I like the ringers and themes. I do personally however prefer loading omap with water's SmartsKey, but that's me.

So I tried installing the 2.08 ROM on a new Cingular 8125 (less than a week old) and it didn't take. The radio parts upgraded but the OS stayed the same 1.8.11 WWE. This was on a CID locked device (I've never done it before).
Since the OS remained the same I did go ahead and CID unlock the device using Lokiwiz. After that I installed the 2.17 ROM and it did take it.
I havent tried upgrading to the 2.08 ROM again.. If it ain't broke don't fix it!
However, the one question I have is, does the 2.17 ROM have the push e-mail update in it? If not, then I will have to upgrade to 2.08, unless this doesnt have it either?

If it's a brand-spanking new 8125, you don't need to CID unlock. You *DO* want to SIM unlock while still on your stock firmware though. But only if you anticipate changing carriers or you want to eventually sell the device as unlock (sometimes you can get a bit of a premium).
Good practice is to have the phone fully charged before flashing. During the flash process the battery does not charge, and losing power during a flash could brick the device.
Establish an activsync connection, then run the upgrader. It *should* kill activesync and begin the process on its own.
Good luck and let us know how you get along.

So as mentioned above I applied summiter's original 2.17 update to my out of the box 8125 (*not* CID Unlocked), no problems.
I tried to overlay the new ROM update with the ringers, themes, omapclock, onto the above. The ROM update ran without a problem but when I rebooted, I had no themes, ringers, or omapclock program. The GetGoodLink and GetExpressMail were gone, however.
I then downgraded to the Cingular original ROM and CID unlocked using lokiwiz. First I did Unlock then I did CID Unlock (SuperCID).
I then reinstalled the new 2.17 Cingular rom update from summiter with the tones and themes.
Now it works! Hooray! :)
So I guess you DO need to CID Unlock the device first.
Unfortunately for those who did not do this already, it means downgrading back to the Cingular original ROM so you can run the CID unlocker. I don't know what changed but it is easy enough to CID unlock so you may as well go ahead and do it, for future upgrades ;)
jason
Addendum:
You can use SPB Backup to restore all your old applications from the original 2.17 install, onto this newer 2.17. However, it deletes the links to OMAPclock, and it puts GetGood back. So I think I will just start over with the application installs.

You may want to add this tool to the ExtROM which i found very useful for BT settings.. http://www.bluetooth.jazztel.es/. this adds 2 more ports to BT.( i am attaching the tool anyway)

Technically 2.17 to 2.08 is a downgrade. 2.08 is a leaked out test version, but from what I can see the core OS has the same build number.
To answer your question, yes I have done it and A2DP works just fine. See my post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44247. You will have to reload all your programs again though :( .

Link to file:
ftp://xda:xda@xda-developers.com/Uploads/HTC%20Wizard/ROMS/Cingular/Cingular_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE-RINGRS-OCLOCK.exe
Enjoy.
--------UPDATE------->
I've created the same customization using the 2.08 Qtek test ROM which has A2DP. I don't have BT headphones to test A2DP, but I did verify the installation and functionality of the ROM. By the way, I can confirm that flashing your Wizard up to 20 times does no harm...with my luck, the 21st time will kill a flash cell or two. haha

I don't think this functionality is available in stock WM5 devices. Perhaps a 3rd party app? On my HP hx4770, I can "send via Bluetooth", but this appears to be facilitated by an add-on; and I think the HP uses a Widcomm BT stack.

These links never work for me.

Enjoy.
--------UPDATE------->
I've created the same customization using the 2.08 Qtek test ROM which has A2DP. I don't have BT headphones to test A2DP, but I did verify the installation and functionality of the ROM. By the way, I can confirm that flashing your Wizard up to 20 times does no harm...with my luck, the 21st time will kill a flash cell or two. haha

maann....so i did the 208 update, and nwo it's stuck at the align screen window -- i tap ANYWHERE and nothing happens...what should I do???
EDIT: okay, well when it starts at the middle crosshair allign, it wont' do anything unless i scribble all over the screen, then it eventually goes to the corner aligns, w hich work, but then goes back to the center align!!
edit2: aight, seems as though just the middle of the screen does not repond to screen taps anymore.....what's the deal?

i was at the 2.17 rom previously, and am now at the 2.87 rom (the SPL is 2.08, where as the ROM is 2.87) and everything is as it should be. I can't wait to get my HT820 headphones so i can test A2DP. the only thing i miss with this ROM is allowing Network Updating of the time; it's not available in this rom :(

Jrinco11: The resistors/transistors on your device are dead in the middle of your screen. I had the same thing happen to my Cingular 8125 and they had to send me a new one - luckily, I have "insurance" on mine, so if it does go bad, they have to replace it. If your device is less than a year old - contact your carrier and really chew them out about the problem - hopefully, they will replace it for free (or for the cost of S&H). If your device is older than that, you will probably need to deal directly with the manufacturer, who will tell you to contact the carrier, who will tell you to contact the manufacterer, and on and on. You might also be able to get it repaired at an electronics store - there are some on the web that can probably do it, though I don't know of any personally.
Make sure you restore BACK to your ORIGINAL ROM if you can - flashing your device with an unapproved ROM technically voids the warranty.
Hope this helps.. and sorry for your luck.
All: Becareful how "hard" you tap on your screen - I believe it is hard taps that are causing the problem. I highly recommend you get some screen protectors for your device. Those are also on the web - they will lessen the "impact" of your stylus on the screen (NOTE: That is NOT the ONLY reason that the screens may be going bad on these - it could be something with the sliding open and closed putting force on the edge of the screen (where the transistors are hidden under the edge)).

I'd say it was bad circuitry built into the phone you have. My understanding is that this has been a common problem, esp. among the HTC Wizard type phones. I'd say it was just an unlucky conincidence - but I could be wrong - have you tried reflashing the orginal ROM back into the phone (if you can)? If not, try that and see what happens - personally, I doubt it'll fix the issue. If you don't have the original ROM, see if you can find it here in the forums, or maybe somewhere else, or, if it is similar to another ROM here on the forums, you can try that as well.
Good luck and God Bless!

Hello,
If I understand right, I can run the Clock240 item in the Start-Programs button with no command line arguments and the clock speed will increase across the board to 240 MHz?
It will revert to stock speed when it goes into standby, or I can return it to normal with the Clock 200 item in the Program Files folder?
Thanks!

it will always go back to default speeds when in standby and after "waking up", but if you set the link to a hardware button, just press the button after the device wakes up, it's that simple really.

I just wanted to make sure that these weren't meant to be used like the launch-specific ones that you can use for specific applications.
I looked at the items, and it appears that they are already shortcuts.
For some reason I had been assuming that the omap program would only work when used with command line arguments launching programs.

Hi I tried download either of the files and all I get is an error. Are the files still available for download? Thanks.
Thanks for the clarification Summiter!
Does anyone else have the problem where the In Call volume control does not seem to work. This used to work fine in the stock ROM that cingular currently ships with. With the 2.17 ROM even with the volume slider all the way to the bottom the call volume is still maxed out.... This causes my speaker to distort.
Another problem I noticed is that when changing the input method from.. say... Onscreen keyboard to Block recognizer.. the switch takes around 10 seconds or so. This happens everytime i want to switch input methods.
Anyone have any clues?

What I did for each of those speeds is create a shortcut with the "-clock" argument and speed. I figured those 3 speeds would be the most popular and anyone wanting to go higher is on their own..
I mapped the 252 to my camera button for those times when I want some extra horsepower. I find that having it reset to stock when going to standby is actually useful...so I only OC when needed and there's been little impact on battery.

Do I have to unlock the sim before running these updates or unlock the carrier?

I just have too much free time. Or insomnia. Yeah, no free time, just insomnia.
You *should* CID unlock it, which is different than SIM unlocking. SIM unlock if your foresee wanting to use the phone on another carrier (either here, or perhaps travelling to a country that uses GSM)
CID unlock is what allows the installation of ROMs tagged for other carriers. In practice it's a godd idea to CID unlock even though others have reported that stock Cingular 8125s will upgrade without it.
Use awizard to CID unlock, then just run the ROM installer of choice.

You became my savior. My brand new 8125 (arrived 4/19/06) would update everything but the OS just like yours. I followed your lead and the 2.17 ROM took like a baby to a nipple.
Thank you Summiter for your great and easy to use program. I guess this is the key to using it for the new models. My old ROM was 8.1.1.1. The CID unlocker that worked for me was the Lokiwiz02b.
Too bad I forgot to back up the old stuff I had first huh?

If the problem gets fixed please post it here and I'll install it again.

The 2.17 ROM is based on the QTek AKU2 release. I stripped out the QTek customizations, added Cingular customizations from their shipping version, some ringers and themes, and packed it back up.
The 2.08 ROM is based on an older QTek release that has A2DP in it. Customization-wise it's the same as the 2.17, but the core OS is not the final AKU2 released from Microsoft. Reading the forums, it appears stable regardless of being pre-release.
Enjoy the new ROM and post if you have problems and whatnot and stuff.

That skin is from http://www.zombienexus.net called the Zphone skin and it does support smart dialing, also it can be found either at the link given or on this sites ftp. Thanks for asking that because it led me to go to their site and find out that they got a new version out.
I changed the caller logo (took the one off the cingular home page) and i resized it from 172x41 to 105x25(original carrierlogo.gif was 105x23) but its blurred as you can see in the screen cap.

Matters what bluetooth stack your using on your pc. For me i just right click the file and click on send to, then bluetooth device. Make sure the bluetooth on your 8125 is on and in the bt settings theres an option to make your device viewable by other. if the right click on your pc isn't there, then right click the bluetooth icon in the taskbar and try looking through those options.

2.08 is the numbering scheme used by QTek when naming the file, so I stuck with that. What the ROM reports is slightly different because, well, I don't know why, it just is. It's a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. =)
As far as Direct Push - I don't follow what you're asking. Direct Push is in 2.08 and 2.17 (and 2.16 and 2.21). DP uses Exchange Activesync. You just set Activesync to deliver items as they arrive. It maintains a connection to the Exchange server and when a new mail or calendar entry or contact is added it is pushed to the device.

4. Tried to flash up to your 2.08 (w/oclock a2dp, fonts, etc...). did not work. Not a complete flash, no oclock, ad2p, fonts, themes, etc...
5. Re-ran unlock with "C" option ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard - Unlock
Device Information:

SPL 2.17 (this i noticed hasn't changed since the very first flash i performed, strange?)

First, I'd like to thank summiter for all the work to put out something like these ROMS.
I had the same issues many have had with the 8125 when I tried to upgrade to 2.17. I would attempt to upgrade and it would load partially, but I wouldn't have any of the custom themes, ringers or apps.
To fix it, I had to flash back to the original 1.8 ROM and then do a CID unlock. Once I had done that the 2.17 upgrade went fine.
Some observations. My clock moved down from the top right into being a Today item...well if I want a clock I have to enable the date item. And I get no clock when in any other program, unless I'm in landscape mode and the good ole top right clock reappears in landscape.
I get a garish white battery display in the top right icon display. I know you removed the battery item from the sys tray, but all in all, I prefer it there as compared to the giant white block one I now have at the top right.
Questions: When I go to start:programs and run Clock2XX is there any way to know I'm running at that speed? I go under device info and it still shows 195.
Why was xpress mail deleted? I was actually thinking of using it since my company doesn't allow personal devices to be setup for push email.
How much more room is left in the ROM area that could be used for program installation like has been done with this rom? Is there an easy way to put a few programs in there?

Is there any way I can get back xpress mail, the battery in my sys tray, the clock in the top right, and remove the battery from top right?

What I am trying to say is the folks in the Universal group have A2DP And they have the updated Comm Manager with the Direct Push Symbol. We do not have the Direct Push Symbol with ours, though we are synced to our servers. I am asking do you forsee you being able to do for us what the Universal folks have done for them? Hope it clears up my earlier mud.
Hmm... about these icons... In my comm manager I have two icons that I have no idea on what they are nor what they do... One of them has a PDA with two opposing arrows and the other has envelope with an arrow in it's direction...
Can someone tell me what they are and why are they disabled all the times?

So if you go to Settings-->Clock & Alarms-->More and put a check where it says "Display the clock on the title bar in all programs", it doesn't display the clock while in other apps?
When no apps are open , the clock being replaced by a semi-useless battery display is unfixable at the moment...no one has found a solution. It affects all AKU2 ROMs.
XPress mail was really just a link to download the app from Cingular. If you have trouble finding a place to download the PPC client for XPress mail, go to the ftp, download the Cingular Extended ROM dump, and install the aww screw it..I've attached a cab file that adds the link back.
You'll have to trust that the Clock2xx shortcuts are working. Or, you can click one of the shortcuts to set the desired speed, and then in File Explorer go to Program Files\OmapClock and run the executable in there..it will report the current clock speed. Btw, OmapClock will report your stock clock speed as 180Mhz.

:D I just flashed the 217 rom to my 8125 this afternoon. I took no chances and unlocked with lokiwiz02b first. While the installer paused for several minutes at 98%(and I do mean several minutes), everything apparently is in place and operating normally. It's like having a new toy. The users of this forum owe you "big time," summiter. Somebody needs to get you a hookup for all of your hard work. You obviously spend too much "geek-time" for your own good!! Thanks for sharing your talent with the hoi polloi...

Hey, summiter - first off, YOU ROCK! Thanks for doing this for all of us.
How about one small request? Do you think you can bake up a new ROM with the lastest 8125 radio rom from Cingular? Cingular updated the RADIO potion of the ROM last week (web site indicates a new radio ROM of 01.16.11).
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/software_downloads_8125.htm
For anyone wondering: this ROM update that was released last week DOES NOT include AKU2. While the download is an entire ROM, the only difference is the radio portion (as far as I can see).

The radio version in the 2.17 ROM is 2.7.10, so I'm pretty sure the version in 2.17 is newer.

I guess Cingular really likes to test their radio ROMs (really really likes to test them a lot).
Again - THANKS for all the work!

I got my 8125 back in early Feb. I finally had enough of the searching for network 2-3- times a day that I decided to do the upgrade last Monday. I tried running the RUU 2.17 ROM in this thread 3 times and it never took. Stayed at 1.08 and missed the radio stack so the device was not usuable.
Ran Lokwiz then did the upgrade and it took first time no problem. So you may have to unlock (SuperCID) option first before you upgrade just in case!!!!
So far loving the ROM and all the goodies you added. It's perfect Thank you so much for putting this together!
I think Cingular is just afraid to unleash this process on its user base for fear of all the calls to support on failures not to mention returns by folks... Also you lose all your installed software on internal memory so that would be another complaint by customers....

The first one turns green when you have an active GPRS or EDGE connection. You can select it when it's active and it will end your data connection.
The second is to turn on or off Direct Push in Activesync.

Just chiming in on the ROM upgrading issue. I had the same problem after trying to upgrade to the 2.17 ROM w/ fonts from the first 2.17 ROM. I had to downgrade to the stock ROM, re-CID unlock (had done it before), and then reupgrade to get it to work.
Maybe there should be a sticky post with those steps?

Went to Tornado Group downloaded Bluetooth files files installed them, tweaked the registry and I am running the newest ROM with A2DP. Thanks summiter for the ROM and the Tornado folks for the files.
