Hello,

Im rahter new to the forums, but ive been reading on this forum, and cingular's, that for Cingular 8125 users with occasional freezes, and minor stability issues, that a rom upgrade seems to fix the problems... Not to mention, the added things such as new com manager, etc... All things i need and want.

My quesiton is this... Im new to unlocking phones, and need to know what to do so that I can unlock, and upgrade my rom.

Is there a decent breakdown on how to do this? I did a bit of looking and I found the common rom that everyone is upgrading too, but i dont see the 'how to unlock' or whatever is necessary to do such..

Help appreciated!

Thanks.

Okay. Yeah i had found that, but my quesiton entails more of, not so much as how to unlock the CID, but quesitons such as (and its my fault that i didnt explain myself):

Is the CID really necessary to backup? And I need a MiniSD to back it up, correct?

After unlocking, i just run the installer for the new firmware right?

Tnx.

When I ran the unlock utility it created a backup file on the PC rather than the phone, So I dont think we need a SD card.

But was that a CID backup?

Even though i dont think i will ever be restoring it, i sitll want to be safe...

It created two files lock_backup.bin and unlocked.bin. I am asuming lock_backup.bin is the file that has the backup of lock code
