SOLUTION FOUND -CID/sim UNLOCKING FOR WIZARD WITH AKU2 ROMS.

warnning; does not work with g4 wizards!!!!!


this steps are to cid unlock and also to unlock sim in the folowing devices; qtek 9100, i-mate k-jam, mda vario, orange spv m3000, o2 xda mini s, dopod 838, Cingular 8125
first; you must make a full backup of you wizard before doing this , I personally use [wizBackup.exe] posted below for my backups and restores. This is not mandatory but could save an enormous amount of trouble.


I as most people with a wizard with the aku2 rom found out that it cannot be cid unlock with lokiwiz tool, you will get the following;{error:itwritedisk-an internal error occurred}.
. that is till now.

note- this steps is for unlocking the cid of the wizard with aku2 rom.


how to cid. unlock all wizard variants ( that have the latest rom build )
first download custom__ruu_wizard_1050412_wwe_101_11210_wwe. rom from the ftp site from the above link, unpack it and just click the romupdateutility_wizard_noid.exe to start downgrading. Simply follow the prompts.
after the rom are loaded go thru the initial setup as you would with any rom.
now download the (lokiwiz02b) from here;

Make sure you unzip lokiwiz to the root o the c: drive.
please copy the whole lokiwiz folder to the root of the drive,not the contentents of the folder!!!!!
and follow the instructions .do not forget to copy the cab file(enable rapi) to your device and run it before running lokiwiz.
Now run lockiwiz and unlock your machine, your machine will reboot itself. if yoy see an eroot while unlocking that says;

CopyFileToTFFS(cidunlocked.bin:0, 0, 00010000)
ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An internal error occurred.


this means that you device not been unloked......try again............

That’s it your wizard is unlocked. Make sure yew keep the [lock_backup.bin] in a safe place you may need it for guaranty purposes.
Now flash the latest aku2 rom from your provider.- [very important,to avoid future problems wit rom updates]
then u can flash any rom you want.
question: if i cid unlock and sim unlock my phone (after installing custom 1.5 wwe rom) and then i install latest aku2 i-mate italian rom, will the sim unlock (and cid one too) be preserved?
Answer: i can confirm that that upgrading to the latest aku2 rom the wizard remains cid unlocked.

do not try to downgrade using an older wizard rom other than the one posted above it will not work
also this {how to} is for the htc wizard only it may work with other devices but i don’t know, so if you turn you device into a brick do not blame me. use it at your own risk
if you device is from a operator like: 02, orange etc... You will void your guaranty unlocking cid, but don’t despair, if you keep the [lock_backup.bin] file that the lockiz tool generated you can restore cid to factory default.

this proccess only needs to be done once in the wizards lifetime.

On the one hand, HTC Prophet is a complete copy (both software and hardware are meant) of HTC Wizard. On the other hand, it's equal to HTC Magician in appearance. haaa you have the prophet
dont do that it may turn the prophet into a brick the only way is to find an old custom rom for your device. take a look at the ftp site it may have one there.

I have an i-Mate K-Jam that I upgraded to the latest i-Mate AKU2 ROM but I lost wifi. I wanted to go back to the older iMate ROM as I currently have no need for pust email and don't need stereo BT. This downgrade failed of course.

After upgrading to the new iMate ROM, I found a post that would allow me to try a Cingular ROM, which I did with some success. I now want to go back to the original iMate KJam ROM (K-JAM_WWE_1010903_106_10110_ship.exe) which I know works with my home wifi setup. Will the above process do this for me?

I've been trying to install IIPWO (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=IIWPO) to my Qtek 9100.
The cab-file has to be installed in the extended ROM and a file there (config.txt) has to be edited as well.
My Qtek has the newest AKU2 ROM so I tried to downgrade first according to your instructions. This seemed to work fine.
After installing the ROM mentioned earlier in the post I ran the EnableRapi.cab file on my device and then ran the lokwiz.bat with the "c" option from my PC. This also seemed to go fine although I was too slow to see if any error messages showed up. I don't think so though.

I then installed the original ROM I had (AKU2) back to my device but I'm still unable to see the extended ROM. Am I missing something?

Do I need to install IIPWO on the device when I have the Custom ROM installed or can it be done after I "upgrade back" to the AKU2 ROM?

PS: Tried to look for the Extended ROM on my Qtek using Total commander.

I would greatly appreciate any help :)

EDIT: Typo

CID/SIM unlock has nothing to do with Ext-ROM. The latter can be accessed and modified only in old roms (< 1.6). So if you want to copy IIPWO in your extrom you need to install an old rom and use it.

Note: when you upgrade your rom you loose everything inside the ext-rom so you cannot: install an old rom, put IIPWO in it and then upgrade! If you want IIPWO you must use an old rom. If you want a new rom (2.xx) you cannot modify your ext-rom so you cannot store IIPWO in it! Sorry!

just leave it there it will finish even if it takes all nite. very importante; make sure there is no programs runing and do not open any programs especialy microsoft word.

Paolo i cannot coment i the sim unlock problem since my 2 wizards are factory unlocked you should folow the lokiwiz tread,after all my instrucions are only to cid unlock and you have achived that.

faria, The romupdateutility.exe from maimach works great on the Prophet for updating ROMS, but does not work for downgrading them. I want to downgrade the ROM so I can CID unlock it, and then revert to a newer one.
When trying to downgrade, it reaches 1% and exits with message "INVALID COMMAND" which I think is the bootloader not accepting the older rom.
Could you please tell me what steps where taken to create a custom ROM for the wizard, so I can do the same for the prophet?

HOW TO CID. UNLOCK ALL WIZARD VARIANTS ( THAT HAVE THE LATEST ROM BUILD )
First download CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE. Rom from the ftp site from the above link, unpack it and just click the ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe to start downgrading. Simply follow the prompts.
After the rom are loaded go thru the initial setup as you would with any rom .
Now download the (Lokiwiz02b) from HERE;

and follow the instructions .do not forget to copy the. cab file(enable rapi) to your device and run it before running Lokiwiz.
Now run lockiwiz and unlock your machine, your machine will reboot itself.
That’s it your wizard is unlocked.

Question: If i CID unlock and SIM unlock my phone (after installing Custom 1.5 WWE ROM) and then i install latest AKU2 I-mate Italian rom, will the SIM unlock (and CID one too) be preserved?
Answer: I can confirm that THAT UPGRADING TO THE LATEST AKU2 ROM THE WIZARD REMAINS CID UNLOCKED.

Just finished reading through all the pages. I got a couple questions which I hope will clear up any misinformation I getting.

I have a Cingular 8125 and have upgraded to a ROM with AKU2. I never did a CID unlock so I'm wanting to do it now. From my understanding, I need to install the Custom ROM (in the link above). Correct? After that I use the lokiwiz to do the CID unlock.

If those steps are correct, what is the information on "ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe" about?

I did what you said!! Did work with me!! My Qtek 9100 is SIM unlocked lllol
First i installed the old ROM downgrade 1.5 version with splash image of the beer lolol in my Qtek 9100 wizard, then used LokiWiz of machinagod software, Unlocked Sim Locker,
Then since i´m portuguese i installed newest ROM AKU-2 version 2.18.7.2 PTG, Date of ROM 2/15/06, with radio version 02.19.11 sended by Faria

And that´s it!! i introduced other SIM card TMN network in my Wizard Qtek 9100 e and now it work lllol perfect

Ya So esay in 20 minutos you do it the process. the newest AKU2 ROMs comes with locked disk writting protecttion that´s why we cannot unlock the phone, so it´s necessary to downgrade Rom for Rom version under version 2, so that why you are able to unlock the SIM lock and CID lock :lol: .

it could be...or u just got a damaged installer,download again desable antivirus before unziping tthe rom and while trying ththe downgrade,other option is to try another pc.

make sure you unzip the lokiwiz tool to the root of the drive c:
99% of the people that ask me for help unlocking their wizard [tru msn mesenger] i find that the problem is that they did not unpack the contents of lokwiz correctly,if when u run lokwiz the window just desapears is because the lokiwiz toll was is not unpack correctly therefore cannot unlock,i had 100% sucess unloking 16 wizard from diferent operator ,in the end everyone gets there.

Yes, if you can downgrade your Wizard to IPL/SPL 1.03, you can CID unlock it & play with differnt language the extended rom etc. If your IPL/SPL is 1.06, then you still can downgrade it.

I think Dopod has come out with new IPL/SPL which has .0001 at the end, under this new IPL/SPL version, it is not allowed to downgrade it, only upgrade is allowed. So you can not CID unlock it.

My Prophet has IPL/SPL 2.15.0001, I can only upgrade the language version with the same 2.15.0001 IPL/SPL. No downgrade allowed. In older IPL/SPL on Prophet, like 2.10, I can downgrade the IPL to 1.0 & CID unlock it, play with the ext_rom. But now, the real challenge has arrived!

So guys, watch out for this .0001 :evil:

Even that the wizard has this strange combination everything works perfect even the radio, so the big gap seems to be irrelevant; in fact my wife never had any problems with it any lockups etc...Compared to mine with aku2 ROMs. Of Corse this is just my opinion and observation.

I could not remember exactly what make the radio disapear, it happened a few weeks ago, but I think someone can try it out again to confirm. But my idea it do not try on a IPL/SPL 2.21.0001 phone, this spl is locked ( I think), you can only downgrade the IPL, but not the SPL. After I removed the battery, my Prophet become dead ! :cry:

If we cannot CID unlock, then we cannot change the languade. The new bootloader version 2.21.0001 will not accept the old NoID upgrader.

Also this IPL/SPL will only allow upgrade to newer lang. version, not downgrade to a older rom version.

I have killed my Wizard by messing with the bootloader.

Is there an utility to extract all ROM segments (OS, Radio, ExtRom, ...) except IPL/SPL from files nk.nbf supplied for Prophet and flash them to device ? I hope in this case it's possible to fix IPL/SPL version on device and upgrade/downgrade just other other ROM segments. The only thing I am not sure if newer OS ROM versions will work with older IPL/SPL.

I have a new XDA mini s w/ 2.21 as of last week and I am not able to get the listed instructions to work. That doesn't mean it doesn't work, it could be my issue. I downloaded the "downgraded" rom and the rom utl noid and both said to check my ROM Utility to see if it was the appropriate one for my version. If you have any thoughts I would be appreciative.

I have been working in the 2.21 rom problem ,and so far no luck.
So it is official if you have a rom version that is 2.21 it cannot be unlocked wit any free tool from here .

I have made a new rom os version 2,21 and with an ipl 1.6 and spl 1.6 and have installed in my machine
[cid unlocked} but the rom is somehow tied to the spl therefore it cannot cid unlocked, so far.
As for people with roms below 2,21 if u cannot unlock your phone is either that there is something wrong with your phone {or you, my inbox is full of request for help } ,the biggest problem is because people did not unzip the contents of lokwiz correctly therefore it does not work, also I cannot predict what you have running in your pc like firewalls ,anti-virus etc even if you have Microsoft word running while upgrading a rom it won’t work, somehow it interferes with the rom update. I have helped unlock 26 wizards thru msn messenger with roms below 2.21 and all been successful ,so stop rushing a read the steps before trying to unlock. lately I received a few email with abuse regarding unlocking, apparently this people have a brick now , because they have been playing with ipl and spl. When you try my steps to unlock there is 2 outcomes; one you are successful ,and 2 you are not but it does not turns your phone into a brick, so I have decided to drop this project ,I will no longer work on it . so you will have to wait to machine good or use the above company.

you can fixe data crash this way.

by using Lokiwiz02b there is an option to lock the phone again

when you run lockwiz it creats a file called;lock_backup.bin so if you restore that file back to the phone the data crash will go away.then you can have as many tryes u want to unlock the phone.this has been posted before.copy the file lock_backup.bin from Lokiwiz03 and put it in the Lokiwiz02b folder then lock the phone.

Just joined. First post. Obvious newby. :oops:

I purchased an "unlocked" Cingtel 8125 in the US and brought it back to Singapore. Plugged in my Singapore Telecom (SingTel) SIM. Phone works well all over Asia but some of the Cingtel internet / mail functions are incompatible with the service here and I would like to upgrade the ROM if it will clear this up.

I purchased an "unlocked" Cingtel 8125 in the US and brought it back to Singapore. Plugged in my Singapore Telecom (SingTel) SIM. Phone works well all over Asia but some of the Cingtel internet / mail functions are incompatible with the service here and I would like to upgrade the ROM if it will clear this up.

If not, that's proabably why you have a dead device. Also, be sure that you didn't try to downgrade IPL/SPL as some other have had problems...

If all else fails. Try reflashing with original ROM

You are probably right about the corrupt rom. I put it in the bootloader, and ran the update again, same result (although I was very happy that the flash went ahead).

I was going to find the original rom to flash back for now. I needed to use the phone so I took the battery and sim card out, and now the device won't switch on! The behaviour is exactly the same as: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=51101&highlight=brick

As most people are aware when a manufacture releases a device the customers find minor bugs which are hardware related so, the batch of wizards shipped last month has a different hardware version[MINOR MODIFICATIONS] that the ones shipped last year .an example is the playstation 2 they all look the same but when you want to fit a modded chip you have to chose the right chip to work with the corresponding hardware revision ,even dooh all the machines look the same. a playstation 2 bought in 2004 cannot be modded with a chip made for 1 released in 2005/6 because of the different hardware revisions .and that my friends is one of the reasons that maybe it does not work in certain devices

I pulled a brand new 8125 that was upgraded with one of Summiter's excellent cooked AKU2 roms, and CID unlocked it just fine using this technique. Prior to that, I couldn't "sidegrade" to the base QTEK AKU 2 release (I like the Qtek splash screen better than the fugly Cingular splash) until I did this.

you can fixe data crash this way.

by using Lokiwiz02b there is an option to lock the phone again

when you run lockwiz it creats a file called;lock_backup.bin so if you restore that file back to the phone the data crash will go away.then you can have as many tryes u want to unlock the phone.this has been posted before.copy the file lock_backup.bin from Lokiwiz03 and put it in the Lokiwiz02b folder then lock the phone.

Mate its not working i tried wat u hav said but still hav DATA CRASHES on screen:-((

And most important; the name of your device [the one in the front of your device]and original operator name that u got the device from, and also how old is your device, to see if we can find a common problem here, [apart from the 2,21 rom issue].

Then the phone hang up because of incompatible SPL and OS
I took out the battery trying to get into bootloader and reflash with another ROM but the phone did not power on. Now its totally a DEAD BRICK. Somebody said that the bootloader was broken and can be reflashed only via JTAG but I dont know what is JTAG. Does anyone have any idea!!

Yes, mine was O2 MiniS with German ROM 2.21 I could not upgrade to an English ROM because the CID is locked, so i tried to downgrade IPL/SPL in order to unlock CID... But now I have a brick! I am ready to open the device and do any thing just to have it become alive.
People with ROM 2.21 please do not try to downgrade ROM untill there is a successfull confirmed method.

Looking at Button's rom, clearly the rom has 1.01 IPL and SPL, and with my flash (and the others who have not worked like Tamagochi and gambino (from another thread)), the IPL was downgraded, but the SPL version remained 2.16.0001. (Although Tamagochi and gambino both had 2.21 roms, which you have already reported as not working).

I wonder if you are right about the minor hardware mod comment before, and maybe a combination of newer hardware, oldest IPL and new SPL just can't work together. I also wonder if it is because the IPL is too old that the power button cannot control/start the device. Ie, there is power etc, but the power button isn't actually functional after the older IPL was installed.

I have just installed rom version 2,25 rom my k-jam unlocked.
Yes when a downgraded the devices with 2,16/18 roms they downgraded the ipl/spl as well for the corresponding roms.
I been doing a lot of work on this and this is what a found
I put together a rom with os 2,21 and ipl1,6 then a flashed into my wizard it work but It kept giving the it writedisk error ,so I incorporated spl 1.6 into it after flashing a noticed that the radio no longer worked ,so I installed a radio version 1xxx the wizard became very unstable.
After all that I still the cid unlock commands would not work.
Somehow the ipl/spl and os are intertwined together that’s why I had no luck.
I do agree with you ,the rom 2.21 probably has a way of recognising all parts of the rom ,a new addiction probably from the operators to stop us unlocking it, so maybe when an ipl 1xxx sends the power button command to turn it on ,and the spl/os is 2xxx it does not recognise the code.
Or it could be a minor hardware revision to stop us.

The lokwiz tool does not unlock the phone totally it only patches certain areas ,for instances’ ,even with a wizard cid unlooked with rom 2xxx we cannot change the splash screen with awizard tools but if I try to do that on my wife’s wizard that has a rom 1,5 pt I have no trouble changing the splash screen, so that means there is certain areas of the device that are not unlocked. there is a lot of thing at play here. Now if you use imeicheck website to unlock your device it unlocks everything including the bit that stops from changing the splash screen. also several people that have SIM unlocked find that they are simlocked again when upgrading to other than their operator rom.

I've got a US T-Mobile MDA that I upgraded in the past to xelecin's 2.17 ROM. The device information screen on the phone shows:

ROM version: 2.17.7.2 WWE
ROM date: 2/10/06
Radio version: 02.07.10
Protocol version 413.1.03

When I do a soft reset, the boot shows:

IPL: 2.17
SPL: 2.17

I was thinking of trying xelecin's newest 2.21 update...so the questions:

Is my device one that has been found to fail using this method?

What's the advantage of doing this unlock?

Should I do this unlock prior to trying the 2.21 ROM from xelecin?

Will I be able to go to the newest T-Mobile update when it's released?

Have any one tried to install the OS only no ipl,spl from another rom for instances rom 2,25? it will not unlock but a least u have an up to date rom and there is no danger of a dead device, because you will not be messing with the boot loader, as long the ipl spl and os are the same numeric braket, do not mix ipls.spl 1xx with os 2xxx or vice versa.
I’m collecting data of the devices that downgrade does not work .the we will see if they have something common.[ Date of purchase from what carrier was supplied etc..]

The mismatch or incompability here i think is between SPL and OS but not between IPL and SPL. Thats why some devices have IPL 1.x and SPL + OS 2.xx and still work well.

Add another person with problems using the custom ruu for downgrading. Every attempt results in the device hung at 98% and never completes. Sometimes ruu completes and says everything's fine, other times it craps with an application error - The instruction at 0x747255b5 referenced memory at 0x68206120. The memory could not be read.

I started with a stock i-Mate k-jam on the 2.16 build. Right now it's sitting on IPL 1.01 and SPL 2.16 in bootloader. I am able to put 2.16 back on to get a working device but no downgrade ability. I've even tried some different ruu with the nk.nbf - the issue seems to be with the nbf. The 2.5 does nothing but dump my box, can only use th 2.0.x.

Any other thoughts or am I just SOL...

following up - the custom firmware update listed at the beginning never completes on my k-jam. I found that by using the Cingular_RUU_1.8.11.1.WWE.ship version I was able to successfully downgrade and CID unlock my device. For those that have been stuck you may find happiness with this approach.

The JAMin is a Prophet not a Wizard. Flashing it with a Wizard ROM likely borked the bootloader. You may very well have a brick. :(

faria, The romupdateutility.exe from maimach works great on the Prophet for updating ROMS, but does not work for downgrading them. I want to downgrade the ROM so I can CID unlock it, and then revert to a newer one.
When trying to downgrade, it reaches 1% and exits with message "INVALID COMMAND" which I think is the bootloader not accepting the older rom.
Could you please tell me what steps where taken to create a custom ROM for the wizard, so I can do the same for the prophet?

I'm having difficulties downgrading too. I'm getting "invalid update tool" from the tool. I've got a brand new QTEK 9100 direct from Vodafone UK. The stats are:

So according to previous posts, this should work as the ROM is below 2.21.

Here are the steps I've taken:

Downloaded CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe from the XDA FTP site
Extracted all the files to a dir
Connected the phone and allowed an activesync connection
Ran ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe
I receive the 300 "invalid update tool" error


Is there anything that I can do? If I use the unlock tool from IMEI Check, will I then be able to downgrade to RUU_Prodigy_1060204_105_11210_TMO_UK_Ship.exe as this is the only ROM that I can use the Blackberry Connect client?

That’s it your wizard is unlocked. Make sure yew keep the [lock_backup.bin] in a safe place you may need it for guaranty purposes.
Now simply upgrade to any rom, you want.

Answer: i can confirm that that upgrading to the latest aku2 rom the wizard remains cid unlocked.

I'm confirming failure with a 2.25 rom.

After downgrade to the custom rom I read

IPL 1.01
SPL 2.25

So I had to upgrade again to the 2.25 rom without CID unlocking.

The pity is that I bought the phone with a 2.17 rom and only recently upgraded to 2.25 (I thought that I had already CID unlocked -- but apparently not). I wouldn't mind seeing if I can downgrade to 2.17 stock but I don't have that rom and it doesn't appear to on ftp.

I guess I'll just have to stay with the 2.25 bootloader and customize from there...no big loss.

I tried to downgrade my phone...and it got stuck in the splash screen. Not even a soft reset would get it unstuck. So i pulled the battery and I saw a flash. I think i bricked it!!!! I've had this phone for 35 days...I hope Cingular will replace it. any advice??? I hope I shorted my phone so they won't seee I tried to install a different ROM.

I "HAD" the Cingular 8125 until I did this. I had the 2.25 version and like the others couldn't get the ROM to install. So i remember looking around the forums and saw a post by machinagod:

The only part of the ROM upgrade that is protected against downgrade is the SPL and the IPL. The rest is unprotected. A specially cooked rom should do it...

So I downloaded the utility and put in the folder where I extracted the cooked ROM, and it "installed" this time without an error message. But then it got stuck in the splash screen or at least it seemed stuck and then i pulled out the battery which killed it.
So for those daring, who can't get the cooked ROM on their Wizard and get the error message, use the Utility and hopefully it will work for you.

I bricked mine...maybe b/c i didn't wait long enough for the splash screen to disappear and ripped out the battery....who knows...

This is the only one that works for my new 2.25 Cingular 8125.
I tried just restoring my 2.17 SPB backup on the new phone - most things work but some things are broken, like my BT
I tried Summiter's option 2 - nothing replaced
I tried the extract method with nb2nbf, again not touching the bl - nothing replaced

I was leery of trying the downgrade in fears of a brick from the mis-matched IPL/SPL versions as some members have posted.
But the mismatch IPL/SPL didn't stop mine from booting up whatsoever.
Actually the downgrade, unlock and upgrade took less time.

Another G4 horror story... Sorry you didn't read all the posts and threads regarding this! The .0001 is the giveaway. To my knowledge there's no "unbricking" this.... and it's gonna be REALLY hard to explain button's Beer splash to the warranty department.

Is it possible to strip:
downgrade rom (ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/Qtek/CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe) from all the parts EXCEPT IPL and SPL.
And then use it to CID unlock a G3 wizard using lokiwiz2a?

After this you can easily re-upgrade your IPL & SPL by stripping the original rom you were using before CID unlock.

That way you wouldn't mess arround with the OS part and don't need to restore all programs and settings..
(they will be lost when you upgrade the OS nevertheless..)

Before I get down to unlocking my 8125 I would really appriciate if someone can reply to my following questions. thanks a bunch in advance.

- I noticed two kinds of "unlock" being mentioned here - SIM unlock and CID unlock - what are they. Which one enables switching carriers?
- I got my 8125 in march 2006 and has following version/details. Will this solution work? I noticed few versions of lockwiz being discussed here. which one is best for me?

People have not had good luck with unlocking the G4's. Your phone is a G4 since your IPL/SPL is X.XX.XXXX rather than the G3 format of X.XX.

Well, I decided to go ahead and run the lokiwiz 2.0b program anyway and it was able to unlock both my SIM and CID even though the SPL was still labeled as 2.26. I just upgraded to Molski's latest OS and everything is running smooth. I can now flash between any firmware I want and now both IPL and SPL correctly change. Kind of interesting that the SPL didn't seem to matter. :)

didn't really need to have my phone CID unlocked (g3 2.25 CID locked) since i was using ROMs without SPL/IPL but went ahead and just did it for peace of mind :). worked like a charm. thank you very much OP.

@ lkmda - I followed the instructions from this topic and used that firmware to downgrade. You hook up the phone through ActiveSync and execute the downgrade firmware installer. This will set your phone to the unlockable version, then run the unlocking utilities, and your phone will be unlocked. Then run the upgrade firmware installer for whatever you want to use and you are set to go.

NOTE: Your phone is a G4 and probably will not work the same as mine since I have a G3. There is a very big difference in the way these devices are unlocked.

@ soopahfly - The 98-99% section is verifying the image that was copied to your device. It checks against the image on your computer to the image on the device. This is there to prevent you from bricking your phone. The process can take up to 5 minutes, so don't be impatient, just let it be for a while.

*.0001 flash chip to Mr. Clean ROM 2.24a wihtouth any problems.

I followed a howto on the forums and stripped the ROM of the IPL and SPL's.

So thereofre i am using a 2.21.0001 IPL and SPL to run a 2.24a ROM.

In my enthousiasm i downgraded a newer wizerd to aku 1.5 but it hangs at splash screen.....even after a dozen soft/hard resets it remains at startup screen....

Just wanted to share with everybody my CID unlocking experience. The device is T-Mo USA MDA, already SIM-unlocked and was running T-Mo's 2.26 ROM when I was doing the CID-unlcok (I, like others here, updated to 2.26 before learning that it would have been better to CID-unlock first).
I used Dr. P's process: 1. Downgrade; 2. CID-unlock using lockiwiz; 3. Downgrade once more to align IPL's and SPL's version numbers; 4. Upgrade to T-Mo's 2.26; and 5. Upgrade to a custom cooked ROM (I upgraded to Risidoro's).
So, the Good part first: in the end, it all worked: I do have an unlocked device (or so it seems:) ) and Risidoro's ROM works fine. Now, the Bad part - that almost ended Ugly: while I was doing step 3, my PC crashed with a pretty bad error code and stated that it's quite possibly not going to recover from that. The PC and the MDA were showing a 16% progress at that time, and it was quite scary: it looked like I might lose both the PC and the MDA. The story has a happy ending though: I rebooted the PC and it came back to life. The MDA remained frozen; however, once I removed it from the cradle & re-set, it returned to the bootloader screen and I was able to re-start the second downgrade - which completed successfully. The rest of the process was uneventful.
I suspect the crash was due to running the same RUU twice on the same PC albeit I can't be sure of course. Advise: It might be a good idea to restart the PC after every run of an RUU - I did do it for the rest of the process, and plan to continue doing it if/when upgrading again.
Dr. P., in case you're reading this: You've used this process many times; have you had a similar experience?

maybe I still don't udnerstand everything. But when I read the updated howto I didn't see anything about needing to downgrade and CID unlock twice in a row, is this neccesary or not?

On the other hand in your howto I read that I nee to upgrade to the latest tmobile rom before flashing molski's, is that right? In the other faqs (craptree and doc P for example), I didn't read anything about needing to upgrade before flashing a custom ROM.

please people help me out, every time I think I know all to unlock my tmobile vario G3 2.21 I read something new and hesitate.

copy the whole lokiwiz folder to the root of the drive not the contentents of the folder.
u cant move the contents of the folder out.it will not work

after briking my 1st G4 wizard i'm now afraid. I know it was my fault i didn't knew that G4 can't be downgraded to IPL1.xx
now i have another G3 CID Locked. I tried Molski 2.26 then Faria AKU3 but still with 2.26 just the splash screen and a an empty windows mobile 5 !!! so I want to try to CID unlock my device but need more info plz

I've read that devices with ROM >= 2.1 can't be CID unlocked
means that all devices >= 2.1 Can't be CID UNLOCKED?included 3G ? or just G4 ?? plz help me i don't want to brike my second wizard

you have a G4 wizard because your SPL 2.18.0001 so don't try to downgrade your wizard or you will loose it for ever !! till now the only way to CID UNLOCK a G4 is by IMEI

This worked great! I had 2.18 rom on my Qtek 9100. Downgraded and did the lokiwiz CID unlock without any problems.

Hey guys,

I have an MDA Vario. Unlocked using lockiwiz 3 as 2 wouldn't work. Tried to unlock the CID using lokiwiz 2 but got the internal error message. Just tried the above and rom downgrade to unlock the CID and got the following message

Error [300] Invalid Update Tool

This utility cannot be used for your PDA. Please get newer update utility.


Anyone else had this problem / got any ideas?

this steps are to cid unlock and also to unlock sim in the folowing devices; qtek 9100, i-mate k-jam, mda vario, orange spv m3000, o2 xda mini s, dopod 838, Cingular 8125
first; you must make a full backup of you wizard before doing this , I personally use [wizBackup.exe] posted below for my backups and restores. This is not mandatory but could save an enormous amount of trouble.


I as most people with a wizard with the aku2 rom found out that it cannot be cid unlock with lokiwiz tool, you will get the following;{error:itwritedisk-an internal error occurred}.
. that is till now.

note- this steps is for unlocking the cid of the wizard with aku2 rom.

how to cid. unlock all wizard variants ( that have the latest rom build )
first download custom__ruu_wizard_1050412_wwe_101_11210_wwe. rom from the ftp site from the above link, unpack it and just click the romupdateutility_wizard_noid.exe to start downgrading. Simply follow the prompts.
after the rom are loaded go thru the initial setup as you would with any rom.
now download the (lokiwiz02b) from here;

Make sure you unzip lokiwiz to the root o the c: drive.
please copy the whole lokiwiz folder to the root of the drive,not the contentents of the folder!!!!!
and follow the instructions .do not forget to copy the cab file(enable rapi) to your device and run it before running lokiwiz.
Now run lockiwiz and unlock your machine, your machine will reboot itself. if yoy see an eroot while unlocking that says;

ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An internal error occurred.


this means that you device not been unloked......try again............

That’s it your wizard is unlocked. Make sure yew keep the [lock_backup.bin] in a safe place you may need it for guaranty purposes.
Now flash the latest aku2 rom from your provider.- [very important,to avoid future problems wit rom updates]
then u can flash any rom you want.
question: if i cid unlock and sim unlock my phone (after installing custom 1.5 wwe rom) and then i install latest aku2 i-mate italian rom, will the sim unlock (and cid one too) be preserved?
Answer: i can confirm that that upgrading to the latest aku2 rom the wizard remains cid unlocked.

do not try to downgrade using an older wizard rom other than the one posted above it will not work
also this {how to} is for the htc wizard only it may work with other devices but i don’t know, so if you turn you device into a brick do not blame me. use it at your own risk
if you device is from a operator like: 02, orange etc... You will void your guaranty unlocking cid, but don’t despair, if you keep the [lock_backup.bin] file that the lockiz tool generated you can restore cid to factory default.

this proccess only needs to be done once in the wizards lifetime.

I tried this once and it looked like it went thru. Just to make sure I tried it again and after selecting c for cid unlock the dos prompt goes away. Nothing happens. I tried u for unlocking and same thing. Am I ready to upgrade to the 2.3 rom or will i encounter any issues? I have the following after downgrading to the button rom from the tmob 2.26 rom.

Guys,
Just wanted to share with everybody my CID unlocking experience. The device is T-Mo USA MDA, already SIM-unlocked and was running T-Mo's 2.26 ROM when I was doing the CID-unlcok (I, like others here, updated to 2.26 before learning that it would have been better to CID-unlock first).
I used Dr. P's process: 1. Downgrade; 2. CID-unlock using lockiwiz; 3. Downgrade once more to align IPL's and SPL's version numbers; 4. Upgrade to T-Mo's 2.26; and 5. Upgrade to a custom cooked ROM (I upgraded to Risidoro's).
So, the Good part first: in the end, it all worked: I do have an unlocked device (or so it seems:) ) and Risidoro's ROM works fine. Now, the Bad part - that almost ended Ugly: while I was doing step 3, my PC crashed with a pretty bad error code and stated that it's quite possibly not going to recover from that. The PC and the MDA were showing a 16% progress at that time, and it was quite scary: it looked like I might lose both the PC and the MDA. The story has a happy ending though: I rebooted the PC and it came back to life. The MDA remained frozen; however, once I removed it from the cradle & re-set, it returned to the bootloader screen and I was able to re-start the second downgrade - which completed successfully. The rest of the process was uneventful.
I suspect the crash was due to running the same RUU twice on the same PC albeit I can't be sure of course. Advise: It might be a good idea to restart the PC after every run of an RUU - I did do it for the rest of the process, and plan to continue doing it if/when upgrading again.
Dr. P., in case you're reading this: You've used this process many times; have you had a similar experience?

I just kept reading hoping somewhere someone would say how to do it with SPL over 2.21 LOL... I figured there had to be a fix in there SOMEWHERE for it by now! I am overly jealous because I picked up an 8100 (8125 minus camera) for my bf and his is a G3, but my 8125 is G4 and its *so* much easier to upgrade and install everything onto. Too bad we can't swap devices, eh? :)
