Alternative to Bulky Date/Time on Today Screen

Just updated to the 217 cingular rom, wondering about an alternative to the 2 line Date format that is now taking up much needed space on today.
Anyone removed it and used a seperate program or something?
Love to hear ideas. Cant stand that the time isnt in the darn bar!

There are two apps developed on this forum:

Just tested the app from ei99070 and it's fantastic, works great HIGHLY configurable, a whole lot better then the standard Today Date plug-in!
