To cut it short have been messing around with the new O2 ROM the whole day to try and get my O2 XDA Exec to boot (It always gets stuck on the boot sequence). Needless to say the battery went below 50% and the phone refuses to connect to the PC. Is there a way for me to charge the battery without the presence of the proper OS?
Thanks in advance...

this may be a silly answer, but have you tried the charger that came with your device? it only connects to the mains outlet, not the computer.

Mains charger and the USB cable connected to the cable charges the O2 Exec. The only problem is that windows mobile has to be actually running for this device to start accepting charge (i.e. the light on the left turns orange!). As my upgrade did not go well and my exec gets stuck in the boot screen, no matter which cable I plug in. the battery does not get charged (i.e. the orange light does not come on). I was asking if there is a trick, that is a workaround , which will let me charge the battery even in this state.

Does it charge when it is in bootloader mode? To put in bootloader, press light + power + reset. Should work, but who knows with these things!

Tried it already...
The orange light does not switch on, so i am guessing the battery is not being charged.
