Switch German language Vodafone QTEC to English Vodafone

Hi all,

I have an English QTEC from Vodafone - ROM details as below:

ROM version: 1.13.62 WWE
ROM date: 09/29/05
Radio version: 1.04.10
Protocol Version: 42.37.P8
ExtROM Version: 1.13.189 WWE

I also have a German QTEC from Vodafone - ROM details as below:

ROM version: 1.13.56 GER
ROM date: 09/28/05
Radio version: 1.04.10
Protocol Version: 42.37.P8
ExtROM Version: 1.13.163 GER

I know that there have been posts that have been close to this in the forum, and this is my first post, and lastly while I am technical I am not overly technical - so I apologise if I am asking something that has been asked before - I have looked at other posts and still need some advice from you all really.

So my questions are as follows:

1) Can I get the German QTEC from Vodafone converted so it is the same as my English QTEC from Vodafone
2) What is the diffference between the ROM and the Extended ROM - it looks like the extended ROM holds the Vodafone specific stuff but is that right ?
3) I was looking at the WIKI and trying to understand the various upgrades - I really didnt want to post another trail - I pulled off the executable "UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe" and started to run it against the German QTEC thinking this could upgrade the main ROM but it stopped almost immediately with a 120 error because of the Country code. Am I just not understanding the way these ROMs work and need to be flashed?

Just to let you guys know I managed to get the QTEC converted over to English. All working great - only thing that I need to do now is to be able to get past the SIMLOCK.

Any ideas here ? I still have the original German IMEI number which is on the box.....
