It's not a joke. If it is, it's somebody who has put a lot of work into a joke, since it has a working installer and all that stuff. I think the uploader has a friend in O2, at least that's what he says in another thread, and he has been able to get a test ROM out the backdoor (or maybe through the roof - key Tom Cruise Mission Impossible music). But has anybody really installed this yet? I don't think the uploader actually has an Atom, and since I'm in Norway and my service center would be in Hong Kong, I think I'll hold for a few minutes...until curiosity gets the better of me! :lol:

Another thing: If I remember correctly, a ROM update can always be reversed by going into the bootloader mode and flashing back. The ROM itself shouldn't really be able to mess up anything. Or should it?

I confirm the super speed of new Camera. Looks cool as well. Also, added a new item in connections section of settings menu - cell braodcast. Backup from previous version did NOT work ok (by Sprite backup). Bootimage now contains "Test only not for sale"

wow, media playing is much faster/smoother using tcpmp, unit is super fast... screen hum still there... no push mail.. bugger... FM radio viaheadphones is louder, and speakerphone seems a bit louder too...

camera software looks like it's been rebuilt from the ground up... now it's actually usable... so far, very impressed...

Can anyone get the HTC Phonepad working on this new ROM?? It seems that my unit will not run HTC Phonepad.. but it does run the HTC smartdialing

sorry, my mistake, it does have push e-mail... you just can't turn it on or off....... The wireless manager is the old style wm5, so there is no option to turn off push mail... so it looks like it's enabled all the time by default... strange...

Push e-mail is in it coz I have a o2 exec as well running push mail with the exchange server at work and I just transferred the sim over and setup activesync, and it's all working fine. E-mails coming through automatically, calendar syncronising remotely.... just can't turn it off, without turning the phone off...

did the upgrade and i can confirm that there are indeed marked improvements in speed and the camera.but the camera part is still lacking.video still seems unusable.but overall the speed accorded to the device is enough for everyone to try this out.

yeah, you need an exchange server for push e-mail... but you can get afree exchange account at www.mail2web.com, then you can forward all of your e-mails to that account and get them on your mobile. But a warning is that push e-mail uses alot of gprs data, so it can get expensive unlessyour plan includes alot of data.

I have just downloaded and installed the new "Not For Sale" ROM.
All I can say is WOW!! It helps get the Atom back to where it should have been on release........and WiFi to my home Belkin Pre-N network is now operational where as before it was a show... but no go.
I am happy I took the plunge.

Agree... this update is worth doing. the system is so much more faster and responsive and the camera sure loads up much faster. saving the picture is much more faster as well. Active Sync also seems to works faster.

Am testing the phone now... so far has not have ppl complaints they can't hear me... i have had complaints when i was using the previous 2 ROM 0123 and 0221....

Hope the final release to end users (customers) to download will see even better improvements...

I installed the test ROM but the audio "ticks" has not been solved.
If my ATOM is configured to play soft taps (settings->sounds & notifications->Screen taps->soft), from time to time the tap sounds with a scratch/ticks. Those ticks appears also in the FM radio hearing from time to time.
Does any ony suffer from it too ?

Everytime I hard reset and then backup from SPB Backup using the new leaked ROM, my camera would just hang and won't load. However. problem doesn't exist if I just used the new leaked ROM alone without restoring the backup. Then, I can see that the camera loads really fast.

Anyone getting the same problem? Can anyone help? Methinks may have something to do with the registry? SPB Backup also said there was an issue with my indet.dat file or something. I believe I may have tweaked that file before, but don't remember when...

Hey there - I haven't upgraded yet but someone said somewhere that the reason for this is the "camera hotfix" that I'm assuming you had previously installed prior to your backup. It's the hotfix (from the O2 site) that's playing funny buggers with the camera in the new ROM when you restore your file from SPB Backup.

I thought I was the only one seeing that! I lost my E-mail account in the same way. I have done that earlier with my old BA, but then it was impossible to get it up and running again because the BA insisted that there was an account with that name even though there wasn't anything visible. Here I can set the account up again. I guess this is the bleeding part of bleeding edge...

After upgrading to this ROM it has fixed many of the issues that I have been experiencing. Camera is working great.

Only issue is the battery icon on the taskbar on the today page overwrites the time. Once I go into another application or menu, it disappears and the time displays. This just happens to coincide with the battery in my watch dying. Coincidence... I think not.... It is becoming a pain to turn on my Atom then have to open something up to find the time.

Anyone know how to remove the battery icon from the today page. I have tried the TBOpt tweak, but the time and date are still hidden behind the battery icon.

I think all this problem got to do with product batch, because My second atom got all kind of problem which i bought in marc, but my first atom which i bought in January never gave me problems like this.

I only get the autoconfig message when my atom has a different GPRS config to what my SIM is set to. Once I align these 2, I don't get the autoconfig message.

I've had the probelm with volume on all the ROM's on my Atom including this one, I just thought it was an annoying feature.

I also installed this Not-For-Sale ROM over my leaked ROM. My problem is the backlight setting on Battery keeps going back to 10 min but actually turn off after 30 sec. I have to manully set it up to my setting of 3 min over-and-over again. Did you experience the same problem?

My understanding of push email, is that it will stay connected to GPRS and send a heartbeat every so often to keep the GPRS alive and to let the Exchange server know that it's still out there.

My issue is that my phone keeps on falling back to CSD and ignoring that GPRS is available. (CSD fails on my phone). So I have to do a soft reset for it to recognise GPRS again. Anyone help?

It was indeed the GPRS replication of my gmail that sucked the battery. With a setting of every 20 min, the phone lasts 2 days with normal usage.

Man it's taken some time to get the Atom running and I've been waiting for the upgraded ROM to MSFP for a while.
We run a fleet of XDA II Minis and the boss decided that he needed an Atom and that I was lucky enough to be allowed to make it work.
The not-for-sale ROM ver 060414 works well but there is a new rom available from O2 in Australia released 060426 which looks to be even more stable. it is currently available for registered users from O2 but I can post it somewhere if anyone else wants to try it...

Just doing the install now and then I'll test and post results and versions.

Bit of a drama with the install process as once you're done and do the hard reset it just hung on the O2 screen but I did a factory reset which blanked off everything except the ROM and it's working fine.

Camera is still super fast and the quality is fantastic.
Wireless LAN still a little iffy and it's not wanting to play ball...yet!

The only aspect that I'm still waiting to test is the car kit as there's not a THB Bury head unit for this model yet. Shame they had to change the spacing of the connectors!

1. test only not for sale (2 second) has loading time is shorter than new rom (5 second)
2. After taking picture, we can take picture againt. In new rom couldn't done.

i've got a solution for 2 of my probs.. :D waitin a little while before soft resetting after changin the volume, n creating a new email accnt doesnt give me the probs i faced before.. guess the atom is slow in writin to the registry or something... :? but the autoconfig error stil remains.. :(

guys..please have a look at the rom it is said 20060414===> which mean it is released in 2006-04-14 and it is older than master jigs ROM.

from what i heard try open wiki page this is an unofficial ROM that was out before the stabil ATOM rom was out...this is to fix the first ATOM rom that is so slow.....when it is first launch, then come out this un official ROM and soon after that out the stabil one if not mistaken it is 20060426 please correct me if i'm wrong here... thanks..
