I recently came across this unlock site which claims that they can remotely unlock your Universals - including the V1640 - for just £6! Yes, you won't even need to send your phone to them.

Have a look:

Has anyone ever used this service? Please comment.

I tried to connect to that site, but the address wasn't recognised. :-/

I believe the MDA Compact II uses the same unlock programme that you can find on the FTP that will unlock most PDA's, apart from the HTC Universal. There is a tread which Buzz and others are working on http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40389&start=375 but at the moment the only way you can unlock a UNI is to obtain a code from your provider, or unlock by way of cable.

Regards.

Try again. It's definitely working.

I'm following that thread as well - just hope that they'll crack the code soon! Good luck guys! :D

No one can unlock the Universals remotely yet. The moment an unlocker is out everyone's price will drop to close to zero.

Every other device you see on that site can be unlocked from tools that are available right here. That's why I support this site.

The reason why I posted the link here is to see whether people know it is valid. Sorry if I got you "jumping on the couch 'Tom Cruise on Oprah' style".
