how to change battery w/o loosing data on Qtek 2020/XDA

I have a Qtek 2020 and want to change my battery on the road.
Apparently I lose all data and get a hard reset doing that.
Any way around it?
If not, does anyone have a recommendation for a good backup software, preferrably one that will notify me before the battery runs so low that it will not do the backup?

In my experience with Himas, actually you can turn the PPC part (screen) off, then take out battery. Data should be retained within this window.
