My first idea was - fileright of some files and folders.

He tried, everything was right.

He changed the attributes with resco and then it works

I had exactly the same issue a couple of days ago, Luckily the solution is quite simple.
Very Happy
The file that stores the addresses was set to read only. God know how it happened, but it was like that from the initial install.

I used Total commander(free to download)
[/url]http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/totalcommander.shtml

I navigated to the \Storage card\Great-Britain-Map\
and select (touch and hold) and a pop-up menu appears

Select properties (at the bottom of the list)

Un-select 'Read Only'.

Select OK etc...

And try Tom Tom again.

Worked for me..
G Luck.

Yeah, after posting this thread and going out, i realised it was probably due to the file rights. I was not sure which file though and ended up making EVERY file on the device non-read only. The problem is solved, but will having lots of system files that were read only now writeable cause a problem?

It's a problem with the file called Great-Britain-Map.cfg and it has the Read Only attribute set. This means that you cannot write any changes to it.

If you Copy the file to the PC you can view the attributes by Right Clicking the file and Selecting Properties. Then UN-Tick the Read-Only option and OK out.

Copy the modified file from the PC back to TT5 and when asked if you want to Replace the file, Click Yes.

Worked for me
