How to revive a comatose Atom?

Got fidgetty yesterday and decided to reflash my Atom which has otherwise been doing great.
Upgrade hang for 3 hours at the initial 4% mark! Took cable out, reset pc and Atom which has been in bootloader mode since then, but all further attempts end at the 4% stage! Even overnight. Looks like my dear Atom is quitting.

Need advice to revive this guy fast. Switched to 818 pro in the meantime . No reply yet from O2 support .

Victor, had the same problem. Try reflashing it from different computer(s). Make sure it is not attached to any USB Hub.

It worked on my Atom after trying on 3 different computers.

I've had the same problem sometimes ago. Now I made 2Gb drive with the clear WinXP and only ActiveSync on my desktop for flashing Atom. Befor it I tried to flash ROM on three computers and all times the process failured after flashing radio. On the clear system there is no problem.

I hope what you are refering to is same for my situation. The Atom is not working and is always showing "Upgrade ......."

Will try your recommendation after work since I have just formated my other notebook. But please confirm your was not just error in upgrade, but bootloader mode, where the atom is not switching back on :cry:

I had absolutly the same screen. :) But if you will have any problems in the begining of upgrade, try fistly remove battery and then place it back again. If it doesn't help switch device in bootloader mode - camera + rest buttons together.

Camera+Reset ends up with totally black screen that looks like device off, but heats up over time.
Take out battery and put back = "Update Device"

Connect to cable and pc = additional line "USB connected"

Start upgrade ROM, end up stuck at 4% :evil: :evil: :evil:

Have tried all the historical ROMs but none goes beyond 4%. Device is unusable at the moment :twisted:

- absolutly right and normal. May be you not so patient? It takes about 30-40 mins to flash rom. And what is on the screen of your desktop or notebook? What errors has been shown?

The day it happended I waited 3 hours!

Second time disabled pc stanby etc. and left it overnight :twisted:

A solution may be right around the corner 8) otherwise sell it as scrap :shock:

While waiting to ship off my atom for repair or exchange 8) I decided to explore a bit to try and bring it back to life. Found that pressing camera and record buttons, and soft reseting at the same time brings up a dignostic screen!

After using the dailpad to sdo the various tests this is my resul:

Sdram test : OK
Display test: OK
Keyboard test: Fail
Flash test: Fail
Serial test: OK

I am not very sure about the keyboard test because I pressed both green and red phone buttons when a series of green squares appeared on screen.

I am sharing this with the hope that someone knows how to get the flash back.

Try to flash in bootloader mode. Press camera and reset together.
If there will be an error during upgrade (on desktop in upgrade window), write it here.

At me a problem: when illumination is switched off, sometimes phone will be paralysed.
i try to reflash in bootloader mode - dont work.... :(

VictorI think if you do an upgrade on clear windows system and have this troubles without a reasons or errors - this is direct way to service centre.

Кстати, при руссификаторе и последней прошивке заметил у АТОМА тенденцию зависать и не реагировать на стилус, полная парализация. Поэтому с русской клавой и на инглише :)
Проверь тест, очень интересен тест на флеш.

Проверь тест, очень интересен тест на флеш.Вот поэтому я руссификацией никогда не пользуюсь и никому не советую. Очень редки случаи когда руссификация не глючит. Лучше просто поставить русскую клаву и все. А тест на флеш проверить могу вечером дома, вот только смысл? У тебя явно дело не в этом. Копать надо софт. Ответственно заявляю что с новой прошивкой, клавой lengOptima, O2 plus, magic button может еще чем по мелочи - Atom не глючит вообще. тьфу, тьфу, тьфу конечно. ;)

O2 decided to replace my dead Atom with a new one, so I am happy to be back here 8) To tweak or not to tweak 8)

Hi. you are so luckly. Now I met the same issue. In the flash process, my dear atom exec hang at the 6% updated extended_ROM. And now it is dead. And I tried all ways to relive, but all fail. Now there is only way that return to O2 for repair. ai....
