Thanks summiter
Does it have any BT stack changes? Is there anyway to post what the changes, improvements feature fixing are?
Thanks
Good luck testing!

I know it's a Cingular rom, but can someone post a generic unbranded version of it? or do I need to wait for the manufacturers(Dopod, QTek, etc..) for that?

summiter,
have you decided what customisations you will bundle in (or indeed remove)?
mick.
Oh, and BTW a big thank you to <anonymous>, whoever you are :-)

I love the customizations but I think many would appreciate a plain vanilla version also.
I remove Cyberon Voice Dialer (using MS Voice Command instead)
I also don't install Smart Dialer as I prefer the ETEN Dialer.
Infact, I'm currently using NO Offical Cingular Cabs on my phone!
It would be great to have the Dot Net CF 2 included in this ROM and the NoCert fix for unsigned cabs. Maybe even adobe Acrobat Reader.
When it comes to things like "Real close on click X" there are so many good ones and we each have our preference that it just muddies the water when you include them. (I use HandySwitcher from Dinarsoft, good deal for $5).
As for things like Smartskeys and Omap Overclocker, the versions are bound to change so it would be better to leave them out as well... Until the Ext_ROM can be truely unlocked on 2.x ROMS.
Thanks for listening.

Ugh - Stupid Microsoft...
Oh well...
So the real question is...
If I've already flashed my device with your 2.17 ROM, what do you think the benefits will be of switching to this new masterpiece you're working on?

in 12-15 hours from riiiight abooout now.
I meed to work out some oddities with the reported rom versions and look through the cab files that came with this thing.
as far as benefits, in its bare state it feels more responsive. and then there's the clock back on top thing which is important to some folks. more details coming soon.

Thanks so much for your efforts. Looking forward to it. But I am really liking the 2.17 ROM right now... But darn I want my clock back, I tired the Lvmtime and it has a slight prob with battery bars in the title bar... So still waiting for a clock...
Actually its pretty smart I think of Cingular to 'leak' a ROM here as they get some free real world testing by just reading the boards...

Don’t know if Summiter said yet where this ROM came from. So that leads me to the question. Summiter is this a Cingular rom or one from another carrier that you are cooking up to be a Cingular Rom? And like the other poster I cant wait I have been checking the thread all day!! Looks like it will be midnight when Summiter posts it so I may have to wait until Friday AM to get it. :-(
Great work Summiter!!

Is this an exe that you received or the actual contents of the ROM?
Can you post so we can have some fun too? I would like to examine the files as well.
Thanks

it is from a cingular device that was not sold at retail and that's all I want to say about the source.
since it was pulled from a device using awizard, the only components I have to work with are the core os, the radio, and the extended rom. awizard doesn't dump the ipl or spl so I have to build this into an installer using the 2.17 ipl/spl. its unusual for the bootloader to change in any significant way so this doesn't appear to be a problem.
right now the os reports itself as aku2.2 however the radio and rom version still report 2.17 even though i've used the new code. I know for a fact the rom and radio should report 2.23.xx. I just did quick flash last night and this may be one of those weird "partial" flash things. when I get home this evening i'll dig into these minor things.
for the sake of getting something out fast, i'll build a basic rom with just the bare customization requirements (gprs and mms setup, etc)

I also was wondering about the .NET CF 2.0 being in the new ROM.
The Microsoft mobile team blog stated that 2.0 would be in the new 2.2 or 2.5 ROM's. This would be very helpful as I was about to install 5mb into my main memory :x
However, the .NET CF 2.0 team has just released a .NET CF 2.0 Service Pack 1 Beta. It can be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6548dd53-a418-42d9-a481-19ba3ceca1a6&displaylang=en%20
would it be advantageous to try & put this SP1 in, or wait until it is out of beta testing?

So has everyone else downloaded the ROM yet? I've been running on it for about 6 hours and aside from the blueberry waffles my phone keeps making it seems to be pretty stable.
Summiter, how do I get it to only make enough of those great waffles for breakfast for two?? :D

Any luck on a 2.23 ROM yet?

Any luck on a 2.23 ROM yet?
The mysterious 2.23 ROM is based on the same OS version (AKU 2.2.0) as the 2.17.11.1 ROM I put up last night. The changes between 2.17.11.1 and the 2.23.11.1 ROM are in the extended ROM customizations and possibly the radio and bootloader...the core OS is identical. The bootloader rarely changes however, unless HTC gets aggressive about blocking up/downgrades as they've done on the Uni.
That said, I'm looking into getting the radio and extended ROM off a 2.23.11.1 device to see what's changed.
2.17.11.1 is on devices that Cingular and MS are giving out to partners, execs, and developers. 2.23.11.1 appears to be on some devices given to outsiders, as well as on devices being tested by Cingular.
I'd *REALLY* like to get ahold of a device or ROM built on AKU 2.2.1 or better yet, 2.3 or 2.5. Although, AKU 2.2.0 so far has been nice and stable for me.
