I was feeling adventurous, so I just followed your link and gave it a shot. The first thing I noticed is that article was dated October 2005, so I was skeptical that it would really be so easy (it looks like it supports A2DP).
I followed the instructions exactly, using an HTC Wizard and the new AKU2.2 (2.17.11.1) ROM from Summiter. When I try to go into the Bluetooth Manager I get the error "The Bluetooth Radio failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth Radio." This was immediately after a soft reset, with nothing else running.

thanks for giving it a try (i'm relying on my wizard to much for the next month to tweak anything serious).
that sounds like the message dell axim users get when using the stack. some times a soft reset will fix it, but as you say you had already soft reset.
thanks again

I had to do a hard reset to get Bluetooth working at all again after trying this. Maybe there was an easier way, but I hadn't done my customizations after Friday's upgrade anyway, so I ran the upgrade again after spending a few minutes trying to fix things. YMMV.

did you ever get that widcomm BT stack going???
It doesn't work. I got the same results as cptcoconut. Don't do it is my advice.

Thanks to everyone who tried the stack, it doesnt look like its gonna work, it was just one of those things i found on the net.
thanks again to all who tried it, if you need any files to get the original stack working without doing a hard reset let me know the file names and i will try to upload them

If you look under "Bluetooth Settings", it says "Insert a Bluetooth card to turn it on". It looks for Bluetooth CF and can't see the built-in module in the Wizrd.
Pretty sad...
