My biggest issue, as petty as it is, was that when scrolling your contacts at a rate when just the first letter scrolls, when I would pick my contact the phone was 20 contacts behind. Like it just didnt keep up. I have since reverted back to the stock 2.25 ROM and all problems are gone.

You know what, I just realized today I had this problem as well when I accidentally called the wrong person. It worked OK if I was only scrolling to the letter E or so, but when I went as far as T, as soon as I selected the contact, it would open up a different contact at "C".

So then I realized I had installed the PPCContactsMgr.cab file from summiter's ROM. I thought it would add some neat functionality, but it turns out to be cause of the problem. As soon as I uninstalled it, the scrolling problem is gone.

So I guess the bottom line is do not install all that extra stuff in the extended ROM if you want a stable device!

I am using the unmodified 2.25 ROM, and I have synced with my PC from usb and BT without incident. I have not experienced dropped calls either. Maybe the problems are third party related...

I sync my email, contacts, tasks from the exchange server and notes, favorites from the PC over USB or BT.

Add me to the list of folk having no trouble with the vanilla "iceman" ROM. Calls are good, syncing via USB or Bluetooth are fine, and my battery life seems to be much better. That said, I don't use GPRS...

I'm running 2.25 and it works pretty smoothly so far...
I have had trouble installing a couple of apps like MS VOICE COMMAND...
Will freeze when extracting the cab on the device.

Help is appreciated. :-)

Although I have not really had any issues with activesync, or anything for that matter, its been pretty stable in the 2 or 3 days I have been using it, however, not everything appears to be working.

I can no longer assign mp3's as ringtones (via file manager), not a big deal as I can copy them to the windows\ring folder, however they do not play. Additionally, also related to the mp3's not working, when setting the phone to vibrate and ring and selecting any of the default ring tones that do work, the tones play, but instead of the device vibrating every second or whatever its time is, it vibrates continuously while the phone is ringing.. and draining the battery extremely fast. I noticed a slow down till I did a soft reset, clocked it to 240, and made the wifi changes, although I have not really used the wifi due to the incredibly long keys I use, I have secured wireless, and its a pain to setup.

Ironically, if you don't install the CAB file P_USBSwitchWiz_Cingular_Feb13.cab) from Ext ROM then USB Switch and the whole Serial USB Connection thing never happen!

Just out of curiosity - why is there a 'My ISP' network and a 'MediaNET' network? This was not the case in the previous Cingular ROM.

They both have identical settings - although 'My ISP' does not have a proxy tab.

Also, switching from 'My ISP' to 'MediaNET' causes ActiveSync to stop working.

I have encountered a problem, that I am sure has affected my wizard since i loaded the new rom, but somebody just mentioned it to me. everytime I text message somebody, they recieve multiple copies (two) of my message. I also have not figured out how to remove the message sent confirmation for text messaging. The weird thing is, that only until after somebody responds to my message, do I get the "message sent" confirmation from my initial message. Has anybody else had this problem? I am sure my text messages are being eaten up by this.

It seems that people replying in this thread are pretty damn smart with this 8125. Has anybody been able to listen to a satellite radio account (Sirius or XM) through its website on your 8125 while either connected to Wi-Fi or Edge? Is this possible? I have tried each satellite, and cant get either to work.

If you have an account with Sirius, you can use this

http://www.emulamer.com/SiriuCE.html

It works great and streams through WMP. Just be sure you have an unlimited data account before you use it.

Anyone get this to work?

I get an error trying to download the channel list.

It is there before. 'Media Net' connection's proxy server setting will cause issues with ActiveSync and Wi-Fi.

you are having problems with your text messages sending doubles are you using a program that closes you text message program after you send each text because you need to allow it to remain running in the backgroud that is why you are not getting the message sent notification till after the person sends you a return text and the reason they are getting doubles because you close the texting program while it is still sending the text halfway and it sends it and you close it right after its sent but never recieves its message sent so when the program reopens to recieve the new text message it sends it again to show the message sent notification to itself and if you want to find information on disabling you message sent notification go to http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other
and scroll down to where it states disable the sms notification you must use a registry editing program to do this such as totalcommander or resco registry editor hope this helps

I installed the latest version of Registry Wizard. When I run it, I get the message "This device has not AKU2 installed" I have the latest Cingular ROM installed.

ROM version: 2.25.11.1 WWE
ROM date: 5/11/06
Radio version: 02.25.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version: 2.25.11.102

Is there something wrong with my 8125.? Where and How do I make sure AKU2 is installed?

On the FTP Site, in

/Wizard/Roms/Other_Unknown

there's a file:

RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe

uploaded about 6:30am EDT. I originally saw it this morning in

/Uploads/Wizard/ROMS

but I guess it was moved.

Who put this up there? Summiter's last ROM had BETA in the name.

thanks,

ActiveSync doesn't work even if you turn off the proxy settings for MediaNET. The only way to get it working is to switch to 'My ISP'. Whereas with the old ROM, I had my network set to 'MediaNET' and ActiveSync worked just fine.

can someone confirm the default settings (apn, user/pass, proxy) for "my isp" and for "medianet"?

They should be identical (except My ISP does not have a proxy tab).

1) "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" should not be selected (MediaNET only).

2) CSD:

Password: <Blank>

3) GPRS:

My experiences so far on QTEK 9100:

I was using the QTEk 9100 2.8.7.1 beta for a long time. I tried this ROM and have to say that so far, it is much faster not only with boot time but with actual use. I have loaded all of fav apps on it that I had before and they are running much faster and smoother. This is only day 2 so a little early to say for sure, but I think this is the best one yet for me. I haven't had a single issue yet (crossing fingers).

Guys,

I've been running the vanilla ROM on 4 8125s, and 8 8100s since I uploaded it. It seems to be no buggier than the earlier releases.

That said, I haven't put on Summiter's release (haven't had a chance, memorial day and all). I will this weekend...I like the ringers and themes etc..... :D

Here's some things that I've noticed since then:
*Battery life is a little bit weaker than with 2.17
*Some email oddities in the Outlook client (phantom numbers on the tree view)
*some PC activesync oddness (thankfully I only rely on Push email and wireless links)
*This one is really weird: If you look at the R-NDIS host properties, the IP address is blank, with a subnet mast of 255.255.255.0 ?????? I reset it to just DHCP.

The benefits so far:
*vibrate while sleeping email notification!!!!!!!!!!!
*WIFI and GPRS stay connected simultaneously without any issues (no more having to manually wake up GPRS after device goes to sleep)

Tata for now...

That's not good! I love Pocket Plus. I was this || close to upgrading the ROM too.

But then again, seeing how some people have great success with certain ROMs while others have not so great success with the same ROMs, there's still a 50/50 chance that it would be fine on someone else's phone.

Thanks summiter! I went back to the vanilla 2.25 and all has been working well, ie bluetooth not shutting down and system is stable. Any thoughts on a version without speeddial ? I really hate the stock dialer skin and have been using lew's and pauly's and that dialer proggy really seems to screw it up. I've never had a need to change the stock splash screens and what not but that cingular dialer screen is tha pits!

I've been casualy looking into the smart dialing thing. It tends to break all of the nice phone pad skins unless someone takes the time to hack in a version that will work with said skin. Very irritating because I want smart dialing and nice big buttons on the dialer. I'll look into it more soon. If nothing else, I suppose I can remove smart dialing and let folks decide what they want to do.

I haven't checked it out much, but from what I can tell the newer version of ClearviewPDF which is in the 2.25 and later ROMs works well with V7 of PDFs. I'll check that out more as well.

I went to this link: ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Wizard/ROMS/
and saw a new ROM dated 6/3 7:20 AM. Is this the latest and greatest that Summiter was referring to above?

I had updated to 2.17 when I first got my 8125 without doing a CID unlock. Will I need to do an unlock this time around in order to upgrade to this one or Cingular's official ROM release when it comes out?

If so, is there a link that tells us what to do to unlock property? I looked at a rather lengthy thread that started with This does not work with 2.21 or later and stopped in my tracks.

I take it I better save any settings for the programs that allow me to do so as I will be reloading everyone of them, post upgrade.

Thanks and sorry for the stupid pet trick questions but everything has been going smoothly with 2.17, I don’t want to screw things up with the next update.

That's sumitter's new one alright. And, yes that lenghty thread is where I'd suggest you start first. (Just follow faria's inial instructions and you'll be fine... you don't need to read the whole thread unless you want some light reading while waiting for your ROM to complete it's downgrade to button's 1.5 / unlock CID, etc and then ... finally upgrade to AKU 2.3

Good luck!

This begs the questions:

I did not CID unlock my 8125 to upgrade to Summiter's 2.17, how come I read herein that we now need to unlock both CID and SIM in order to go to Summiter's 2.25 AKU2.3?

Is this latest version (6/3/06 7:20AM) based on the Cingular final release ROM or perhaps it is best to wait till Summiter does his magic on what Cingular finally releases to the public.

Random question - I installed v2.25 and set up the phone to activesync with our company's exchange server. In the original Cingular ROM I was never forced to have a password on my device. With this ROM, I'm not able to set up an activesync conncetion without it. Any idea why? It's annoying to type in the PIN after an hour.

Last night the earpiece on my device died. I can't hear anyone when i make/recieve a call, but speakerphone works fine. Don't know if this is software or hardware prob. I'm about to hard reset but i just attempted to sync my device and i'm getting an error, its telling me i need as 4.1 or higher installed on my pc. I have 4.2b installed. Soft reset didn't do the trick. anyone run into this before?

I installed this unoffical/official patch without any unlocking as I thought this would not be necessary with an official upgrade.

One thing I thought I would get with the upgrade is the Exchange 2k3 'push' email services. Nothing seems to have changed within Activesync that enables me to put in the device address, etc. I thought this was the big thing about this ROM upgrade - getting the security and messaging functionality.

Am I missing something? I believe I have everything set on the server side but do not see anything in Activestink.

Thanks!

Thank you. i looked this up and, unfortunately, don't understand what it means. HOw do I decide whether to have the serial or RNDIS box checked in ActiveSync mode?

Thank you for your help.

I upgraded yesterday and after problems installing my 3rd parth apps were resolved. I've only noticed two things that might not have anything to do with the ROM, but I CAN NOT get my ringtones to be on my 2gb storage card. I 've done the required changes to the registry. I've tried multiple loaction and still nothing. Everytime it just gets copied to the Windows/rings I've tried everything. In the dropdown list its really weird. I now have a list as follows below:

Cingular_tune
fantasy.wma
jig.wma
mystic.wma
oldphone.wma
ringer.wma
roaringguitar.wma
terrestrail.wma
Windows Default.wma

the only one that will play is the Cingular_Tune the rest say "This ring tone file is corrupted or unavailable. Please choose a different ring tone." This is driving me crazy.

The second problem and i really dont know where this one came from but when the keyboard is slid out and i'm typing a note or something. When i go to use the RED keys. They are not mapped properly. The numbers are but the key layout is as follows:

"~" = "!"
"!" = "@"
"@" = "#"
"#" = "$"
"$" = "%"
"%" = "&"
"&" = "*"
"*" = "="
"=" = "+"
"+" = "Special Char"
"-" = "Special Char"
" ' " = "-"

Really weird huh???? Anyone have any idea on these to issues. Dont really think it is the ROMS fault. Other than those things its much faster, havn't had any call dropping issues or system lockup so i guess were good. Thanks guys

this rom has given me nothing but headaches. constantly dropping calls. edge/gprs randomly disconnecting. veryyyy short battery life. I had summiters 2.17 rom and it think im going to reflash to his new aki 2.3 rom down from this one. oof. :(

I've been running it for a few days now and am very happy. Thanks to Summiter!

I paired my Motorola Bluetooth stereo headset in about 2 minutes and it works great. I had a little scare with the timezone always switching to Arizona( I was wondering what I was gonna do when we set the clocks back in the fall since Arizona doesn't use daylight savings time) but I did a search and from what I could find it's a cingular network thing not related to the ROM update. If I am mistaken please let me know!

Thanks, G

First, the upgrade process is somewhat easier than with my other devices (HTC Blue Angel/HTC Universal)... just run the executable and it starts the bootloader, cancels ActiveSync and installs.

Second, this ROM allows for push e-mail with the use of GoodLink or Exchange Server. Nice.

Third, GPRS/EDGE speed/reception are good. EDGE speed is around 165 kbps while driving and ~325 kpbs when stopped with good reception (3-4 bars). I don't have a GPRS speed estimate, because EDGE is available in all of my immediate area (though my other two devices get ~45-60 kpbs on GPRS).

Last, I installed the zoA2DP.cab and now I have use of my bluetooth stereo headphones. Very nice.

Be advised, the registry hive is not necessarily cleared when updating ROM versions. This had to be done manually on all of my other devices, so I'm not sure that the Wizard would be an exception. That being said, the strange artifacts that some are experiencing post-ROM-upgrade seem to indicate that some registry settings are in place from a previous ROM (i.e. - incorrect keyboard mapping, incorrect messaging settings, etc.).

Overall, I have had a positive experience with the updated ROM and will continue to use it.

I upgraded using this package and my 8125 seems to run a lot faster and smoother. This combined with E-TEN Dialer theme and I am one happy 8125 user.

I just wish I could find the green theme that Microsoft shows off on the WM5 site (and how to get the icon bar up top).

How come HTC hasn't released an updated ROM since November, 2005? Is the only way to obtain updates through leaked ROMs?

Thank you for the information.

Same here, I was really excitedto find this link since the file on HTC's site is corrupt.:(

I'm new here and to the PocketPC world; I did have an MPX 220(I really don't want to talk about that!)

I just got my 8125, yesterday, and am really excited about modding it.

Are there any other sites hosting it?

Thanks in advance.

You don't need to put in anything. Just setup your sync schedule to 'As items arrive' and you're good to go.

Non-push email solution (the stock ROM) requires you put your phone's SMS address.

I upgraded to the wrong version of the firmware on my Cingular 8125.

I put RUU_Dopod_Wizard_2231301_225_22313101_ship_full_CH S.exe.exe on it and now it won't let me downgrade to the latest cingular patch. It tells me it is for upgrading only.

Anyone know how I can downgrade to the latest release from cingular or to the factory default?

Thanks in Advance

No I just ran the installer thinking that it was an uncorrupted version of the file that cingular posted today. I am trying to run the English version now.

UPDATE: The file seems to have gone away? Are you having problems uploading it?

First off, i've been using the "beta" version, and it's far superior to the stock cingular rom. However, everything has been working great except for a small issue with bluespoon headsets.

I have a Nextlink Bluespoon AX and a Bluespoon AX2.

My issue with the AX (bluetooth version 1.1) is that voice dialing can no longer recognize voice tags... it's giving me a "please reduce noise level" error message, although i'm in a completely silent room.

The AX2 (bluetooth version 1.2) is actually the opposite. I can be barreling down the highway, with the top down, and it picks up the voicetags just fine. This one has a problem with they way calls are handled. When I'm on the phone with someone, if a third party calls, and i click ignore, to send them to voicemail and continue my first call, it transfers my original call to the handset, and disconnects my bluetooth connection.

Otherwise, call quality on both is great...

Is there a problem with the bluetooth stack in this version? I never had these problems with the original cingular rom (i think it was version 1.8 ).

Any ideas/suggestions?

*!A2DP hack.cab (included in the post)

Note: Just to let you all know that all my hardware and software was working prior to me updating to the latest code.

Procedure to Upgrade:
Backup:
Download and extract the aWizard-V1_3beta2 utility and execute.
Select the "e" option to Enable RAPI (Run this after each hard reset)
Select the "b" option to backup Radio, OS and Extended ROM
Syncronize the device to you PC before you start the upgrade!!!!

Rom Upgrade:
Run the RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe and follow the insturctions on the screen.

Yes... Your data will be gone.... This is why you Sync'ed before you started.

Install Software (usb):
First start by installing the A2DP cab file by copying it to your device and execute it from the device. I checked before and after and where as i did not have the A2DP option before I did notice it after this was installed.

I installed all the softwar again and it all works fine so far, we'll see tomorow when it get's put to some use. You will have the choice of either re-installing all of the programs like you did the first time you got the software or you could open the MS ActiveSync 4.1 and select ONE BY ONE and restore them to your device. I have read of problems from some people who selected all of the programs at once and did the re-install... don't do it.

Configure and Test:
I tested the WiFi and I actualy have a better reception using a less stronger signall from the antena options ( I hope this means more play time!). I was actualy very easy this time than on the previouse stock Rom. Again, do not change any settings on you WiFi router, you will need the login information to the router to establish the connection again, I forgot mine and had to look in the routers security settings to get that back again (one minuite tops!).

I tested BT and that works like a charm too! I re-syncronized to my laptop without a problem. Again don't make any changes to your previously working BT enabled PC. If it worked before IT should work now. You will need to establish the BT security connection to you BT enabled PC. Once you accept the connection on you PC, go to your device (8125) and open the ActiveSync manager and from the bottom right-hand menu select the "Connect via Bluetooth". I also connected to my BT headset (Logitek) and works like a charm too! That's IT!

Right now I have WiFi, BT, and TCPMP and the audio and vidio is not skipping nor is the video choppy! A2DP works as it should, I tested with the Motorola HT820!

And for those of you who did not notice I did this all without ulocking the 8125. So it's still in warranty! Well, let me dream that it is for a while before you tell me it isn't.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to pipe in here...

It's been 9 days since I installed this ROM, and I have to tell you...... it's incredible.

I have not had to reboot ONE time in over a week. I did once, just because I used Sprite Backup.

But really... if any of you "late-comers" to this thread are considering installing this ROM... I have had excellent results with my Bluetooth GPS, Wi-Fi at home, GPRS on the road, and everything else.

Well done, as always!

If anyone wants to see a list of my installed apps, I'll post 'em!

Thanks!

Mike

I am having the same problem. BT Activesync worked flawlessly before the update (stock 8125 to official Cingular 2.25, no CID/SIM unlock), and now I can't get the 8125 to recognize ActiveSync over BT. I've tried adding and removing COM ports, etc. Laptop and 8125 definately 'see' each other and are paired correctly. Just can't get the BT Activesync to work. Not a dealbreaker for me as I rarely BT sync anyway. I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone has a solution.

Otherwise, the 2.25 ROM has completely changed my device for the better. It's like a whole different machine now. :D

Here's a little how2 that helped me (by an unknown author) the first time I had problems with the old 1.8.11 rom. I did not, however, had these problems with the 2.25 so, good luck...

******************************
HTC WiZard How-To

Cingular 8125

Activesync with Bluetooth:
1) On your computer, go into bluetooth settings. Check bluetooth is ON and set to discoverable. Add an incoming COM port, eg. COM5.
2) On ActiveSync on your computer, go into connection settings. Tick all the boxes. If the COM port is greyed out, untick it, close the settings box, go back in, now tick it and set the COM port to eg. COM5.
3) On the K Jam go into bluetooth settings, and remove the connection to your computer.
4) On your K Jam go into ActiveSync, click 'menu' > 'connect via bluetooth' then you should see a message saying 'cannot find an existing bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports ActiveSync. Would you like to set up a partnership now?'
5) Click YES - you are taken to the Bluetooth settings screen.
6) Now click 'new partnership. As soon as you do this, the K Jam will search, and as long as your computer has bluetooth discoverable turned on, your computer will eventually be displayed. Check the computer name showing on the K Jam is the same as the name you gave the bluetooth profile on your computer.
7) On K Jam, click your computer name then NEXT.
Now enter a passcode - any four digit number (remember it) then next
9) When you do this, your computer will pop up with a message saying "a bluetooth device is requesting authorisation". Open this message and type in the code that you gave the K Jam. The next screen on the computer will tell you that it was successful - click FINISH.
10) Back on the K Jam, the screen will now be showing the services available. AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOWED STEP 1 and 2, ActiveSync will be an option, and you need to tick this and press FINISH on the K Jam.
11) Close bluetooth settings, now in ActiveSync screen click MENU > Connect via bluetooth. Your ActiveSync program on the computer should eventually pop up and connect.
