When I connect the wizard to my laptop via USB cable, it syncs fine but my laptop's wifi connection drops and doesn't reconnect until I remove the wizard and/or reboot. Is this a know bug and is there a fix?

I use Intel Proset wireless for my laptop wifi connection.

It's working as designed.

M$ decided that wifi and sync together were a security risk, so stopped sync'ing over wifi. Therefore wifi will be stopped when connected.

Its strange but even after disconnecting the phone, Wifi has problems connecting back. Needs a reboot to work.

I had this problem too. I have the IPW2200 chipset for wifi (from Intel). The windows default driver assumes the security problem and disconnects as described in the previous reply.

I was able to fix the problem by downloading the Intel ProSet wireless software from the Intel website and installing it. Then I switched from letting windows manage the wifi connection to letting the Intel ProSet software manage the connection. The problem went away! :D

This all happened on my HP DV1000 series laptop running XP Home Edition.

Good luck, I hope this solves your problem.

Do a search for a program called USBswitch. It is not in the wizard forum.
Install the CAB and then you can change the comm method from RNDIS to Serial.

Activesync now works and the wifi doesn't get dropped.

I installed the latest Intel Proset drivers and the wifi connection still drops on synching. Will try the other methods.

I still can't find a fix for this problem. Its very frustrating have to reboot the laptop after every sync. I can't find this USBswitch prog as well. Need help please. I installed the latest intel drivers from the Dell site. will try the generic intel ones.

Here's a link to a thread with USB switch.

You have to be logged in to see it.

thanks m8! I've also tried synching with bluetooth and this fixes the wifi disconnection + no wires! :)
