EDGE is faster than GPRS, I heard, but but how much?
Is it like compaing 56k dialup to broadband Internet? If I use EDGE, will it suffer the SAME PROBLEM as GPRS, which is, when there is any transfer of data IN PROGRESS, any incoming phone call will not be received?

You may find an answer to this more quickly if you googled for it.
And your 2nd question has been answered before, try a search on this forum for that.

Edge can allow upto 384 kbps . GPRS only 112kbps. Considering that current 3G services give you only 384kbps max instead of the much touted 2mbps and you need to change your mobile to 3g .

Aaa..Edge is exactly 3 times faster than GPRS...it was a substitute to compete with the data rates from CDMA....of course 3G is the best...for more and more info on Edge, try visitng Nokia Forum...on forum.nokia.com..very nice tech stuff reg the edge

Is there any way to make the Universal compatible with EDGE via modified ROMs or is it a hardware thing?

Is there any way to make the Universal compatible with EDGE via modified ROMs or is it a hardware thing? Latter. And it just seems that HTC thought of EDGE as of useless power-consuming feature when it has UMTS.
