[ XDA neo ] ---> ROM version / unlock ROM / ext. ROM

Hi, Guys.
I red many Topics, but all are really confuse.
I'll try to make some clear Post with good informations here.

Here i start, with the information i already got:
( please correct me, if i am wrong)

- ROM = The Part where the basic HTC/wm5 firmware is stored.
- ExtROM = The Part where the Provider/Modell specific Informations/Pogramms are stored.
- ROM Versions : There are some ROM Version from private Persons, who they made their own and some orignal version from the Providers.

Tools i found:

- "MobileRegistryEditor.exe" : Nice RegEditor for Destop PC to change PPC registery
- "Unlock Ext Rom Wizard.cab" : Unlocking ExtROM ?!

Now some questions:

- Where can i find the ROM Versions? ( private or orginal )
- Wich tool to use for upgrade ROM Version?
- What can happens, when i upgrade the ROM? ( crash my NEO totally? )

- Wich tool to export the ExtROM?
- Is "unlock" ExtROM and "export" ExtROM the same?
- Do i need to unlock the ExtROM to change some Registery Settings wich normaly tells me "No Access"?

- What is the RadioROM?

- JAMin and iMATE are private ROM version?

Want: Uninstall the Provider specific Tools ( like O2 dialpad )
-> Way: Delete from ExtROM

Want: Disbale GPRS/UTMS
-> Way: Registry ( or ExtROM, too?? )

Want: More Power
-> Way: Overclocking Tool + Registery entries ( like bigger chage and no animated menu) ( + other ROM version, too?? )

The last Way brings me to my second Question. Why mod the ExtROM seems to be clear, but why using another ROM Version? Only because the SPLASH-SCREEN? ;)

And another question for me is, is there any tool, or how can i see all this versions like :

- Rom version
- Rom date
- Radio version
- Protocol version

on my SLPASH i only see this Numbers:

I can not answer all your questions - But if you think your PPC is too slow, get yourself a different Rom ( There are many Topics about this ) or do a soft reset when the ExtRom Cabs beeing installed after hard resetting or rom upgrade...

I installed the newest o2online Rom by now, but without all these specific cab Files installed and the Neo is a little more responsive now.

To Overclock (to be able to run Skype for example) go and download "omapclockv2".

ROM-Version: 2.15.4.29 GER
ROM-Date: 3/9/06
Radio-Version: 02.19.21
Protocol-Version: 4.1.13.09
ExtROM-Version: 2.15.4.115

... where can i get a newer orginal ROM? On O2 page i just found the same. (The ROMs includes ExtROM and Radio, too?)

And so the ROMs are only for more performance, like?!

You are righht, this should be the latest O2 Rom, i previously updated to Dopod-Rom which was some days newer.

Many Questions are answered there - I Don`t know much about the Ext.Rom, only that installing them can be prevented with a soft reset aber an upgrade or hard resetting.

Ist schon echt lustig, wieviel Leute hier rumrennen und einfach mal so drauf los flashen und machen. Wenn da 50%, hey super great job schreien, dann is das was tolles, aber die anderen 50% die danach n echtes problem haben is es denk ich net wert. Ist denn hier echt niemand in der Lage, mal ne Vernünftige Auflistung/Erklärung zu machen, was GENAU da eigtl. passiert, auf was man achten muss, und welche Möglichkeiten überhaupt alle offen stehen ?!?!

na und? was soll das alles hier?
die meisten fragen sind schon hier im forum beantwortet worden, die anderen antworten muss man sehr wahrscheinlich selbst hearausfinden. wenn jemand so einen grossen angst hat seinen geraet zu flashen und dabei irgendetwas falsch zu machen, so dass dann aus dem schoenen neuen xda neo ploetzlich ein teuerer briefbeschwerer wird, so hat er hier sowieso nicht viel verloren. ob es wert ist oder nicht muss jeder fuer sich allein entscheiden, die informationen gibt es mehr als genug, man muss nur ein bissschen suchen.
