Does Tom Tom Navigator work with out GPS ?

hi all, thanks for a great resource.
For my contribution I have uploaded the speed zone camera poi pack for tomtom go and navigator.
It basically shows you the speed limit of the gatso/mobile/spec camera, looks good to see it on the screen and proves usefull.
Just a note the qouta thing got me, so I couldnt put the item below on, so I have provided a link.
There is also a voice thing (data.chk) that replaces the standard sirens etc.. for a voice telling you --- "gatso 30" or "mobile 60" cooooool as.

Hi all , sorry for the late post.
Just to clarify the file that you must download for your version (data.chk) IS the sound files.
The .ogg files are for your preview use only. you need ogg player or summat.
So the data.chk file is the sound to be dropped in the folder specified.
Hope this helps.
Now im going to play with the custom installer.

If anyone else has found problems with my custom installer and the origanal sounds aswell with voice warnings please let me know and i will re-build it. Do please note that they dont have there original names, ie bell1 bell2 polite1 polite2 etc as i didn't know which one was what.
as for tomtom running slow, disable all unnecessary POI's under Change Prefs/Manage POI/Enable POI. that will make map scroll smother

if you're using IE go to view/open ftp site in windows explorer
then you should get a new window open and a message pops up
'ok' the message then go to file/login as and enter the username + password...
other than that you could always install some ftp software - plenty of free ones around!

v605 is the standard GB map
v652 is the GB Plus map, both the same exccept the plus ahs the major roads of europe. I wouldne recommend it though as it makes searching longer due to the added locations.
Both are the most current available.

I also made an easy install for ttn. Creates the shortcuts (as the official on misses it), the currentmap.dat and cracked exe. The postcode install also creates the blank tomtom folder so you can do full 7 digit postcode lookup.
Got tired of all teh hard resets and having to do the manual rubbish.

This is why i made the custom install, also the genuine install routines don't work very well / are a pain to install under WM5.
mine is cracked and patched with voice warnings for speed cameras, creates the current map in my docs, all you have to do is install the default SD card files (voices, maps and zip)

Appologies, scanned through but didnt read fully,
on a related note, dont suppose anyone has the latest pocketgpsworld.com Speed camera database, the torrents only seem to have 4.074 and the August release 4.075 has just come out.
Ive also uploaded the v605 map and postcode file to the FTP site, its in uploads. The postcode file includes the fix to get full 7 digits working and hte map was ripped straight from a brand new TomTom one and will work with any V5 or V6 tomtom product (except rider which uses Navtec maps).

For some reason Some maps dont work, My GB+ don't work unless GB is installed aswell US Maps do work but i don't know if you gotta have another map installed aswell (Can islands is supposed to get round activation aswell as GB)
Try with GB or Canary islands aswell as N/Gersey

I can't transfer the installer on my Exec. I don't have 30mbyte available on main memory.
So I transfer the program (tomtom6.exe) on the SD card and launch the program from there.
Now tomtom6 is installed and working (although it says no maps installed). I need to install Map of Italy. The European map (1 Gbyte something) is too much for my SD card, How can I install only portion map (Italian map)?

Hi,
I too have trawled through 7 pages of threads and remain with two seemingly common problems.
1) I cannot access the FTP site with with FTP explorer or IE. In all cases it does not like the username or password:( .
2) American Maps: I have a nicely working TTN5.2 with GB and a couple of European maps. I want to get some US maps working but TTN5 simply will not recognise them (I have tried 4 different US maps and Canada) and offer them as options in 'Change Map' .
Anyone any idea what I need to do to fix this or the FTP issue?
