Just wondering is there something to replace the lame default phone interface? I think its pretty lackluster especially for one handed operation, I was hoping as a Windows based phone that there would be more usable and better looking interfaces like skinable or user made ones you could swap in.

A few other things I'm wondering about is if you can assign separate ringtones for different callers like any regular sub 300 dollar cellphone? It seems just getting MP3 ringtones takes some slight mods to get working, that and the bluetooth limitations kinda got me a little down on my purchase at least for an everyday cell. Is it possible yet to voice dial from BT headsets? I am able to initiate the voice dialing from the headset but it doesent listen from it yet, so I still have to pull out the phone to speak into it.

Sorry if these are noob questions but I havent had as much time as I'd like to search around enough as I've had the phone for a few weeks so far and I'm still getting accustomed to it. I'm sure I have a few more details and things to mention about the jam but I'll get to them later when they resurface. I still like the phone but it seems there is plenty of room for improvement, which is why I was quite happy to find this forum.

Thanks, and love the site.

Edit: Neat, just found this topic

I'll look up those skins, but if there is better phone software out there I'd definately be interested as I find the current one somewhat limited.

I have been heavily using my S100 both as a PDA and phone for close to 2 years now and I have no complains regarding the phone interface. I also haven't heard or come accross with a 3rd party phone interface program. One handed operations seems to be a limitation of Windows for Pocket PC's. As I've read in some articles, the Treo 700w (Window's based) is not as agile as the Treo 650 (Palm based).

The Magician has a Caller_ID program wherein you can assign photos and ringtones to each and every contact but it's slow. One of the best is PhotoContacts Pro.

I personally don't see any major limitations in BT except that software like MS Voice command is needed for voice dialing.

I guess you should go through the whole forum and make all the mods so that your unit would be quite close to your expectations.

Yeah I noticed most people seem to be fine with the default stuff. I'm one of those guys that like to customize everything, I guess I was just hoping there would be lots of user support for the phone side as well (different phone programs), similar to how there is so much support plugging in the holes of the default mobile Windows OS.

But you are right, pretty much everything you need is on the default phone software, I was just hoping there was a way to make one handed operation easier, such as bigger soft keys and/or remappable hard buttons, that sort of stuff. Personally pulling out the stylus or navigating the default softpad while driving is not very convienient, thank god for the voice dial mod.

Indeed.
