Oh you can bet that's where my attention is...or will be shortly. I'm getting CF2 into AKU 2.3 and making a few small tweaks..that I'll throw up in the next few days.

AKU 2.5 will be pretty easy to get up with a few mods relatively quickly. I'll put up a bare version too for folks to build stuff for other carriers.

Hi molski, your Wizard is just any language that you throw at it. Install a WWE Rom and its in English; the languages are part of the Rom, not the device. I flashed the Mr. Clean Rom on my dutch Orange SPV M3000 and now it's WWE.

I have used a few of these roms on my friends and relative phones. This guy does awsome work. I think the best way to help him is to send money to pay pal so that he can get his hands on more phones to test it with. Or just send him a few phones so that he can get more tests done.

I'm looking forward to this ROM. I have TEST2 with the Cingular radio and have been issues with dropped calls. It seems to drop at least once every call though. After that, it's fine. I downloaded summiter's AKU2.3 multi-installer but didn't do a full flash since it's essentially the same as TEST2.

I'm really trying hard to be patient and not bug Summiter about the status of AKU2.5...after all, its in all our best interests to let him get it right before releasing as he has done many times in the past.

However, I would be very interested in a little teaser--what can we look forward to in AKU2.5??? Does it do my dishes, or turbocharge the LED flash to blind potential muggers?

I think the himalaya is using windows mobile 2003 second edition AKU 3.0. AFAIK there's no AKU 3.0 for wm5 yet.

BTW, where does Summitter find the AKU 2.5 bits??? Does he work for HTC?

I needed a existing wizard ROM to hold the new OS, so I used this AKU 2 qtek ROM.
OEM packages (Driver, MMS, Camera, ...) and the XIP section are also from this qtek ROM, but the complete OS is new.

GREEEAT! I was giving up waiting when the welcome screen finally appeared!

The rom however is not working well: when i completed all the steps in welcome screen i saw a error window telling that init_tray could not be started, this window was followed by another one saying that checkautorun.exe couldn't be started, and so on...
None of the startup programs was started up at all!

Then i saw the today screen but two of the default plugins were blinking. I soft resetted. Now i'm waiting for it to load again (i've already waited 2 minutes and nothing yet, it seems the boot time is really long)

Ok, eventually it boot up...

I see again the error windows: the start up programs (init_tray, capnotify, wifi_init, checkautorun) cannot be started 'cos they are not correctly certified (signed) or are not windows mobile applications at all.
The two blinking plugins are still there (tasks and block screen: they appear an then disappear).
I tried starting camera using the hardware button but it didn't started.
The phone is not able to charge (i connected the power supply).
Start->Programs doesn't work.
Start->Settings works but a lot of icons (including power applet icon) are missing.

My battery was low in charge when i started the update (60%) so i cannot waste other time or i won't have power enough to flash back my old rom.

This first test ends here but i don't think it was bad at all.

I think, bepe, that maybe sometingh is wrong with the certificates. Maybe some files are not signed and so cannot be started.

PS: oh and the extrom installation didn't start after the first start up.

NO. IT DOESN'T WORK. :(

It boots but has exactly the same problems the first rom had:

- it cannot run startup programs (checkautorun, init_tray, wifi_init, etc)

- doesn't start extrom

- STart -> Programs doesm't work

- In Start -> Settings most applets are missing

- Camera doesn't work

- Today screen's plugins blink (on and off and on...)

- Extra looooong boot time

It behaves so identical to the first rom you cooked yesterday that i did a filecomp to be sure it wasn't actually the SAME rom. Obviously it wasn't. It is a different rom but with the very same problems (and i think they're all related to some f***ed certificate signature).

Nice try, bepe. We'll try again next week if you can/want. I hope you'll keep helping and explain us some tricks! Thanks for everything!

This is similar to the issues I've run across with the AKU 2.5 I have which was sourced from a different device. After many trials w/ 2.5, I decided it would be best to get 2.5 that was built specifically for the Wiz...I'm still waiting for those bits from my source.

I had a go with bepe's aku3 bits, same problems. I have some time today and I'll continue checking things out.

I do like the polish on AKU 3, but I wish they'd get rid of the copy/paste routine.

I can surely get a nice tidy ROM built after overcoming some of the current obstacles, but getting an AKU 3 ROM working that wasn't originally built by a carrier for Wizards will take serious colaboration. I'll work with Bepe when he has time. I might end up loaning him a Wizard so he can see the things we see when testing.
