Hi,
Today I've just noticed that somehow i have cracked the screen on my XDA Exec  I have no idea how this has happened, the phone has been in its Leather pouch, in clamshell mode with the screen inwards, in my pocket all day :?:
Just wondering what the warrenty would be like for a thing like this?? Im very pissed off as nothing of major force has touched it, i havent knocked on anything :?: And surely the whole idea of the clamshell & leather pouch is to protect it from things like this?? There are no marks on anything, im very puzzled as to how its happened :(
Anybody got any info about the warrenty please let me know :)
Thanks
Matty

many many people have this problem. I myself had it 2 months ago. I was always very careful with my device, but some day I took it out of my pocket and the screen was broken.
I had to pay to T-mobile NL in order to receive a new one, 130 euro, and was forced to extend my contract with another year.
Good luck!

Hi
Search as there are various posts about o2 and their replacement under warranty. Here's one thread I contributed to for starters

I too had it happen to mine. The screen is too flexible and all it takes is sitting down wrong with it in your front pocket. Mine was even in a Piel frama leather reinforced case. Nice case but doesnt really do much to protect the unit.
I had mine repaired by pocketpctechs for $259.
I have since gotten the aluminum case and had no prblems since. I have even dropped my MDA on concrete and the road about 3 times with no effects tahnks to the aluminum case.

Do you get the option to purchase insurance for the phone in the UK through your carrier? I pay an additional $6 to t-mobile but it covers accidental damage etc...

I bought the phone off eBay, as my contract is on Orange and i was bored of my last handset! As such i cant get the insurance to get me a new phone!
Im currently trying to get in touch with the person i got the phone from on eBay to send me down a receipt in the chance of getting an O2 shop to send it away for me!

I dont know what to do with mine! I've gone back to my old phone now (Orange C600), i'm thinking just get the XDA fixed when i have the cash, as it is a cracking PDA. Besides, im going to loose LOADS of money on it if i sell it as it is :(
Will give the games developers some time to make some decent games for WM5 i suppose
