what is the best backup/restoring program?

i usually use activesync to backup and restore my xdaII. but yesterday, i hard reset my xda due to some reasons, but when i tried to restore it back, there are alot of files that acitvesync cant restore; like databases, registry, etc.. now im left with corrupted files in my himalaya. im thinking of installing everything over again.

im just wondering what is the best program for backup and restoring?
