Downgrading from 2.21.4.1 back to 1.5.4.102 - How??

After applying the 2.21.4.1 latest update for my XDA mini s i've found that the reception's not as good as the previous 1.5.4.102 version. I tried to reflash the software with the original rom from the o2 website but it won't allow me to downgrade back to how it was before. I've also tried the various radio roms available from this forum, but the reception's still not as good as it was before applying the upgrade :(

Is it possible to downgrade back to the original shipping software or not?

You'll need to downgrade, CID unlock, and then move to your desired ROM. To downgrade successfully though, you'll need the 1.x ROM packaged with the no-ID installer. Look through the first few pages of posts for a message that says something like "Solution found for downgrading 2.x ROMs".

That, unfortunately, does not work for the AKU 2.2 (version 2.21) and up ROMs. :(

So there's no way to go back? When I phoned O2 I specifically asked if the new radio would give me better reception and they said 'yes'. If i'd have known it would be for the worse then I wouldn't have bothered installing the upgrade :twisted:

Extract the rom you want to update. Make sure you place all the files in one folder. I used Win Rar to extract the rom. Make sure you have nk.nbf, ROMUpdateUtility.exe and along with all the other files. Replace RUUGetInfo.exe with the one I have attached. It will trick your Wizard thinking that it is on a lower ROM version so that you can do the update. Then run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe, and everything should be the same.

You downloaded the Update (RUU_Prodigy_2210206_22102109_021911_TMO_UK_WWE_Sh ip.exe).

Just rename it to RUU_Prodigy_2210206_22102109_021911_TMO_UK_WWE_Shi p.rar and open it with Winrar.

What i've done so far is to download the original shipping rom from the o2 website, extract the contents into 1 folder, replaced the RUUGetInfo.exe rom with the one supplied by phouki and clicked on the ROMUpdateUtility.exe to start the update. It displayed an error message about 5-10 seconds into the update saying that I need a newer version of nk.nbf and this is where I don't know what to do next.

Search for RomUpdateUtility_NoID.exe download it and use it instead of RomUpdateUtility.exe

When you have been given more than one suggestion, please quote back part of the post so we know which one you're referring to.

Please list exactly the steps you used to flash with the original shipping rom.

Can't be sure but I'd guess not. If the RUU thinks you flashed good then it will hard reset which would do that.

I've tried reflashing it again and it's exactly the same. The IPL is 1.05 and SPL is 2.21. It's asking me to choose between 'basic' and 'corporate' settings when customizing. The only thing I can see that's changed is the phone skin.

You're not going to get any love with other ROMs until you CID unlock. Because you upgraded to 2.21 before CID unlocking there are no free solutions.

Hit up http://imei-check.co.uk (and no, I don't have anything to do with them) and pay the £20. That should SIM and CID unlock your phone. At that point, you should be able to reflash the older ROM without issue.

I tried this solution and it also didnt work for me trying to downgrade from the new cingular release back to the old qtek one. I however found a solution that did work for me here

Adam P,

Use the link flipwalter posted (in the quote). You might be toasted already though. If that process doesn't work the you need to get a 1.x Rom from your Carrier (is it O2?) and extract the RUU & nk.nbf files. Then use the RRUGetInfo file from the earlier post to try to get the older rom onto your phone.

That failing, you need to either dump 20 pounds to imeicheck for thier CID unlock.

Use the original RomUpdateUtility.exe. just replace the RUUGetInfo.exe. I have tried doing this myself and it works. Let me know if it works for you

I was on a similar task;i bought A used 8125 at 2.25

did the above with updated RRU file and noid.exe...

result the IPL is now at 1.08 (what i wanted)
but the SPL/OS and GSM are all stuck at 2.25

i tried to run the update utility with the origal files they dont work saying old nbf
witht he files from this site. it reimages the rom but the #'s are the same...

all i want to do is CID unlock;run lokiwiz and move to the latest ROM 3.2

please help!!!

I have seached for days and each time I come to a link that claim's to have the file it gives me nothing:(
I would appreciate it if someone would put it in some easily gettable place in the FTP directory. (I cant find it there either) All I want to do is replace my xphoneII rom with an SP3i rom to get media player 10.

Secondly,Always post vital data of your phone for seeking help.Post the full data of your phone IPL/SPL...? OS version...? Make & Model of the device...? Carrier...?, and post exactly what you are looking for ?
