View Full Version : Simple Yes or No.. MediaNet PPU charges
I have mediaNet unlimited... I just upgraded to the 2.23 rom by summiter which in the connections it shows "myISP" and not mediaNet......
Will I get charged Pay-Per-Usage?

There is no simple answer to is. Using My ISP or Media Net (the only difference is the use of proxy server) does not matter to the billing. I use My ISP all the time w/o being charged PPU. First, make sure PPU is not showing up on your account features. Many times, CSR will forget to take it off when adding Media Net or even PDA connection. Secondly, don't over use the data. If your data usage stands out, Cingular will definitely take a close look at your account and decide you should use Media Net plan and slam you with PPU.
Thanks for the reply.
I think that I will just flash back to the summiter 2.17 rom. I know that I didnt get the PPU charge on it. (just as a precaution) I am almost certain it had MEdiaNet in it in.
let me ask this... is thier a cingular CAB file that will set up the settings ?
why not just use the medianet profile as default if you are worried about it? the settings are in there, just not as default.

You need call and ask them remove that PPU from your account. You're being charged PPU right now.

Again, I and many others don't use proxy server because of Wi-Fi issues. As long as PPU feature is not on your account, it really doesn't matter you use proxy server or not. You need call CSR to remove that *feature* from your account regardless. Sooner or later, it will bite you with a huge bill even if you're using proxy server.
