All:

I have read the forums here about the dropped calls issue with some of the cingular roms and have a couple of questions surrounding this issue.

1. I cannot seem to be on the phone (GSM) and connected to any apps (GPRS/EDGE). Example -- I am on the phone and launch a messenger app, or WMIRC, or office communicator mobile. They won't connect. THe GPRS connection says its on hold. Is there a way around this? Someone replied that there is no way around it.

2. If I am on th ephone, and attempt the above, my phone call drops. This seems to be related to the forum thread about dropped calls. Someone replied in another thread to me that this means the rom is not handling the fact that if it tries to connect to something via GPS and a GSM call is active then it should handle that well instead of dropping my call. I am wondering, could this be a radio ROM issue? Should summiters rom have a different radio rom in it?

Any suggestions / thoughts. I really want the direct push so going back to an older ROM is not a great option. This is all more of an annoyance than anything right now. It would be nice to stay connected to office communicator though while I am on the phone.

If someone already posted the answer to your question, why are you asking? The fact is that until UMTS 3G, you can't have active data while talking on the phone.

I'm not positive, but I believe that only certain classes of devices (class A) can do voice and data..and I don't think the Wiz is a class A device.

As far as dropping calls - which AKU 2.3 did you install?

Heh. people like you spoil these types of forums. if you don't like a message just don't read it.

To answer your question anyways -- someone answered my questions AFTER i made the post on this new thread, so I decided to post those reponses here in case anyone stumbled on this and was looking for the same answer I was.

thanks for your concern. Keep on making the web a great place :)

The reason people respond in this fashion is simple. It's a way for people who don't have the courage to say what they feel can do so under the anonymity of a message board. They can shout orders to do searches and reprimand you for asking a question. I agree its ridiculous. But some people prefer venting misguided anger rather than ignoring a post.
