I want to remove the battery8 icon and connection manager from the lower taskbar so did a search and came up with this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46713&highlight=remove+system+tray
which pointed me to this wiki
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry
"Remove Icons from the Taskbar
To Remove Battery:
HKLM\services\power\?ShowIcon === change from 1 to 0 (zero).
To Remove Screen Rotation:
HKLM\services\screenrotate\?ShowIcon === change from 1 to 0 (zero)
To Remove the Wireless connection manager
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\?WirelessMgr\keep and change the DWORD Keep to 0, soft-reset
If you remove all three icons, taskbar will be removed and more space on today screen."
So I use my trusty total commander, go to HKLM, go to the services directory but then don't see anything resembling ShowIcon or WirelessMgr. What am I missing here?
BTW, I have a Cing 8125 with Summitters 2.3 test2.

Those tweaks are for the universal not the wizard thats why you can't find the keys you want.
To remove the system tray just delete the init_tray.lnk from the windows\startup folder on your device and soft reset.

Thanks :)

Yep will give you more space - make a copy of init_tray.lnk so you can put it back in the future if you need.

Oops, I didn't think to make a backup.. i'm sure someone will be able to provide it anyway should I need it in future.
I have a similar question along the same lines... pocket plus doesnt take up the whole today screen, is there a setting somewhere that i've missed, or maybe a regedit where you can specify the height of the today plugin?

Hi
as already told, you can remove Init_tray.lnk from startup. but be aware - this will make slight problems with software, which places icon in tray (CardExport, Pocket GPS Pro etc).
in addition you could gain more place by eliminating lower bar (with contacts and calender). they will be still accesible through soft-buttons, but will not take place on today screen.
i prefer dciNoBar
http://www.google.ru/search?hl=ru&q=dcinobar&lr=
(sorry, some links are in russian, but i think you will have no problems with finding download link).
if you like the result - you may add this program to startup folder so it will restart automatically after softreset.

If you tell me how can i make screenshot i will show what it looks like.
May be you are using some today plugin which height needs to be manually adjusted? in my case this is Spb +

Thats cool then if its possible - probably because i still have phm traylaunch and it stays where it normally is and i want it right at the bottom.
To take a screen capture use xnview download here http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=12698
its under tools\capture - i would be interested to see what setup you have and i will fiddle with mine a bit more - thanks
EDIT fiddled with it and yes - it works!!!! phm traylaunch is right at the bottom now. Nice one mate - cheers! Now I need some new themes - normal ones are not long enough.
EDIT2 can't get traylaunch to stay at the bottom :( - trying to sort out a workaround!
EDIT3 found a fix to keep phm traylaunch at bottom after softreset - open and shut keyboard and it moves to the bottom - GREAT!! v.v. grateful been looking for something like this for a while!

Find enclosed a screen capture program - you can assign to a hard key.

Its only drawback is that it saves in bmp format

For those using dcinobar - I have tried Vjtoggletoday and would have to say it works better. You can remove soft keys only, soft keys and start bar or startbar only - have it just the way you like it. Does not have the glitch dcinobar has where you need to open and shut the keyboard

Turist, please read my reply in the VJToggleToday II thread. Ensure that you're using the right version, WM5 and not the WM2003 apps.
For those who do want to use it, remember that if you make a shortcut to the alpha and launch it with the command line -config it'll show you a configuration screen to adjust the size of the softkeys and start bar to whatever you want.

Lol vijay - i think only that baby of yours has access to those private betas.
Turist - vjtoggletoday works well for me and I have the startbar in full - just set the startbar config to 24-26 or change it in the registry.
hmm strange in my version of toggletoday - tray has completely gone - i have removed init_tray.lnk and only use phm traylaunch which i toggle on and off.

To change the softkeys on the Today screen
* The left-hand softkey settings are at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\1 12', the right-hand softkey settings are at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\1 13'
* The 'Default' string value can be changed to whatever text you wish to have displayed
* The 'Open' string value can be changed to the program you wish to run when the softkey is pressed
For example, to change the left-hand softkey to start Pocket Excel you would set
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2\(Default) = Pocket Excel
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2\Open = \windows\pxl.exe
If you want to change the left-hand softkey to start Messaging you would set
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2\(Default) = Messages
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2\Open = \Windows\tmail.lnk
If you want to change the right-hand softkey to start Contacts you would set
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 3\(Default) = Contacts
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 3\Open = \Windows\?AppButtons\Contacts.lnk
thats from the Universal WIKI. it worked to change the 112 softkey on my Wizard, however there is no 113 dword value. if i create it will it screw up the contacts softkey? anyone know?

You need a theme with the images larger than normal - a couple of mine can be downloaded from the 'my today screen' thread on this forum or you can resize them and make new theme with themegen ce.

Thkx for the keys. I tried modified those keys and worked.
The only problem now is that there's a space between the tray laucher and the plugins. It's like a "No land" space. Any ideas to resolve that??
vijay555
6th July 2006, 12:41 PM
The space is probably your tray (where tray icons go). I haven't enabled the final code for hiding the tray, because the tray is dyanmic, sometimes there are icons, sometimes not, so I can only implement this feature properly when I've finished the "resident" version of VJToggleToday - this means that the program will monitor the tray and hide it if empty, unhide it if not. Or maybe just override and hide it all the time.
In fact, the solution I'm going to use will be slightly more exciting then all of those options :wink:
However, in the mean time, try running the attached program. It's not mine, but someone said that it helps. I've never tried it.

default height of both bars is 26. Going higher then 26 does nothing useful.
Going to 0 on the lower bar forces the little SIP icon to pop up, so stick with a minimum of 0 (top bar), 1 (lower bar).
I'll fix this at some point... apologies for the long delay guys, my father's quite ill right now, so I'm preoccupied for a bit.

I use WA2. I am not sure why, but since enabling vjtodaytoggle, I lost the bottom bar of my WA2 but the regular soft keys are still there. I then run vjtodaytoggle and the bottom bars are gone. Then the problem is that my left soft key button doesn't work. I have it set to my file explorer. the right (contacts) works fine but not the left.
