Seriously. My entire screen is stickies, have to scroll down to get new posts. Can we perhaps consolidate some of them?

UPDATE: SORTED - SEE BELOW!

Get a bigger screen, and/or increase your screen resolution! They take up the top third of my screen.
Seriously though, those stickies contain a lot of useful information for 'noobs' such as myself, and save a lot of trawling through the not very helpful search system on this forum.

I think consolidation is a good idea though - i've been on forums where the stickies almost take up the full first page.

A lot of this information could be included in the wiki - therefore i also agree it could be useful to combine a lot of this.

I run at 1600x1200, but with bigger fonts to make letters on screen look normal again. I refuse to squint my eyes.

Getting a bigger screen is not a good solution, but I suspect you knew that.

making a new wiki sounds like a very good idea....and that will make room for new stickies that sound be there too, Like having a stick with all the rom versions and download link. Keeping that updated will eliminate a lot of unnessary double ups of posts which then just make things confussing for those trying to find the latest roms. :D

There are only 6 stickies...and that filled up your 1600x1200 display? Hum...you've increased your font size? What a waste of such fine resolution.

I'm on a 1280x1024, using firefox, normal font size. Stickies only took up less than half of my display. For the stickies to take up my entire browser window space, I had to increase the font size 3 times (Ctrl +). THAT'S HUGE FONT!

Do you have poor eye sight or other sight related issues that you have to "squint" your eyes when viewing normal font size? Have you tried Windows' Accessibility tools, might make life easier for you...instead of having no idea how many users (or the entire forum) to suit your demand/suggestion.

Noted that there are some theads/stickies that can go into the Wiki, but I do doubt 6 stickies are "** TOO. MANY. STICKIES. **" due to the fact that you can't display other threads because YOU perfer bigger fonts and normal fonts is something that YOU refuse. Really, that's hardly a reasonable reason to say "Too Many Stickies"...

There are 8 stickies in the Universal forum, and I've attached a 50% reduced pic for your perusal.

There are too many stickies, they need consolidating, or stuck into a wiki.

I see the problem! I browse the boards from my XDA a lot, so I've selected the appropriate stylesheet for that sort of browsing, which puts text onto new lines where it's not required... hmm.... can we have auto selecting of stylesheet based on whichever version of browser is detected?

There are 2 Annoucements, and 6 Stickies.

Now, you chose the style-sheet for "VIEWING ON THE XDA"...then complain about viewing the forum on 1600x1200 and have too many stickies on the basis of YOUR selected style-sheet doesn't use the entire display on the desktop...go figure. (You do notice that your first resolution-related info about this complaint is 1600x1200 and not XDA, right?)

However, the bolded comment from your last reply is a lot more constructive and I agree with you. Auto style-sheet selection would be great for a forum/board that is largely portable/mobile device oriented.

Any post that sticks to the top IMHO is a sticky. :)

But on that point, this brings up another intereting thing - who reads all the announcements? I tend to skim past the first few posts, especially if the date of last posting is not recent.

Would be great... is it doable?

Hell yeah, it's php at the backend...Just need some admin guy to hack up the code.

I dont think there are to many stickies...I just think that some of the stickies are better placed in the wiki to make room for new stickies. stickies are good used when they cover a topic which is "hot" at the time...certain topics that are really important are vey popular and are good to be placed as a skicky.

A approach something along those lines could be benificial.

And this is how it should look.

This is on a 1024x768 screen.

You're 80% the way down your screen before you get a normal post... and yes, Firefox is lovely!

I think stickies would be more effective if there were ONE of them ("READ THIS DAILY"), and we were emailed only whenever a mod added something important to it.

Hell it could just be a link to the wiki in that case, with a "recent additions" section near the top.
