I made a flashy Vista splash screen for the PPC startup. You only see it for a few seconds but I think it's a lot better than the stock one.

I have also included the original in case someone decides to try this and go back, and for comparison purposes.

To install: simply move the file named "welcomehead.96.png" into your Windows directory. You will see the splash when you soft reset!

This splash supports both portrait and landscape views.

This does not work for my Wizard.

I think it has to be 320x240. When I use your picture it shows up like a square..

Strange, it works on mine. The reason that I don't have it set to 240x320 is that (like the stock WM5 splash) the phone should know whether you're using portrait or landscape, and clip the picture accordingly.

It may have something to do with your ROM, I dunno. You can always crop it too.

I see this thread's getting a lot of views. If it doesn't work for anyone else, please let me know and I will look into it.

Worked great, Thanks.

It also alowed me to replace the HTC logo for my own logo by replacing the HTCABOUTLOGO.bmp file in the windows directory :)

Now if i could only get rid of the i-mate screen, my start up screens would all look great...

and if it that doesn't work

convert the pic into a .png file and
just rename the picture welcomehead.69

copy and paste into your Windows folder on your Wizard

AnupThat's pretty sweet, I thought I was being original too.

I like what the artist did, but I prefer not to have things say "Windows Vista," or whatever, unless I'm actually running Windows Vista. I just can't bear to lie to myself like that :P

edit: and thanks to everyone for their praise! I'm glad it's working out for you.

you downloaded the inline sample (right-click, save-as) instead of clicking on the file to load the full version.

This works lovely on my Wizard, thanks.
