Also, the automatic resize of the wifi row does not work. I have the row height as 69 and when i change to show only 2 Networks, the row height does not change like it says in the manual.

Does anyone else use SK Today Commander and get a problem with BS showing again when switching today profiles??
When I switch to a today profile that has BS in it, it does not show or it may only show just the mobile operator.

It's the only today plugin that gives me problems with Today Commander.

there is also a normal version of build 0212 with the bug-fixes which will be released soon.

your new battery doesn't seem to have a sensor. it has a static value instead. In case it has a sensor, then it is not supported by prophet's batterydriver. i'm sorry... there's nothing you can do, but disable the reading in options.

in principle both are, because none of the changes affect normal version. Customization as well as wifi is compiled only in extended/advanced version.
I've attached the normal version (0.04) for testing because there are a lot of minor bugfixes/changes since last released build.

My wifi networks row is Row #6. It does not automatically adjust. The manual says this:

wifi_networks:
if version="0" or no version given, then the given height will not be adopted.

if version="1" the height supplied for is used for 5 available WiFi-Networks. If you change in options to show only 2 networks, then the new height will be calculates in the following manner: (givenHeight/5)*2.

if version="1" and no height is given, then anything will be handled automatically.

It should be considered as THE intermediate mechanism to save a lot of time.

Hi ikarus, your software is excellent!

Very useful to keep track of GPRS data usage, and also display the Cell Broadcast messages. I am using it on WM6 (LVSW) on a Hermes - working great!

One problem though, regarding the Cell Broadcast. I use CB for Channel 50 (cell info). For some reason, the broadcast messages are still appearing as Popups and going to my SMS Inbox (BatteryStatus is also displaying the CB message).

Is there any way to stop the CB message from going to the SMS Inbox?

I've tried changing the AppName registry settings in HKLM\Comm\Cellular\SMS\Protocols\Broadcast. It stops CB from going to the SMS Inbox, BUT if I open the tmail application, then the popups appear again and CB messages go to the Inbox again.

Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Info about this registry setting from MSDN:

The description for the value is:
Optional. Full path to the application associated with a given provider. If no read handles are open for a given message type, then the application specified by this value is launched.

So I guess the reason for the behaviour I observed, is that tmail opens a read handle for the Broadcast message type as well. Can this be prevented or worked around?

yes, you could write a mailrule and integrate into tmail.exe, which deletes all incoming cbms into the inbox, but this definately isn't the way to go. It doesn't solve the issue (even if it seems to), it is a slutty thing which could cause bad side effects.
You should see the root cause.

Could it be the SIM card? This is the interesting part... The CBMS was working the way it was supposed to (no popups), when I was using a different SIM card (different GSM network). I travelled to another country, switched to another SIM card, and now the CBMS are causing popups again.

"Problem" SIM card is a 3G USIM

The problem is that any time I modify anything on my today screen every icon and their subsequent text dissappears except for the default battery/charge icon and the % charged icon. The only way to get everything back is to go in to the today app, shut batterystatus off, close the today app so that the today screen repaints itself and then going back in to the today app and turning it back on. going in to the today app and unchecking BS and then rechecking it doesn't work, believe me I've tried.

Here's the other pertinant info: My device is a wizard and the only other plugins that I'm running is cLaunch and weather panel. The same thing has happened when i've tried 4 different versions of BS including a lite version and in 4 diffeerent OS versions including my original WM5 OS. So, it's apparently not OS or BS version specific.

Any help would be appreciated because I like this app and don't want to have to go back to omapclock and todaysinfo.

There are 2 versions. The basic version which is BatteryStatus.0.04.CAB and there is the extended version which is BatteryStatusExt.1.04.203.beta4.CAB. There both on the first page of this thread. The extended version allows you to customize it with a xml file.

from my point of view, there is no need for, because windows is providing you this already perfectly integrated into the whole system.
but... instead of build in such an indicator, i provide a more universal method with the class "registry_tracker".

The values you're asking for are only values in the registry, so using the above code you can add this indicator by yourself and much much more...

Moreover you can track almost any DWORD/String if you know where it is in the registry...

btw. it is implemented using Notification Broker, so no polling for this.

to explain this class:

No they aren't. At least AppName should be \Windows\tmail.exe

Your Window-Tag has no version-attribute. That's it.
Copy the default.xml from your device and compare it with your custom and see..

I think most of the users don't understand (at least they can't/don't read...) what this lock-app do. It is important to understand that this app doesn't suspend the device.
Hence i decided not to include it, but i've attached it and you can copy it manually to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs

1) The first video shows the wifi row showing when the wifi is activiated. Can you please make an option not to have the wfi row show when it is activated. It gets annoying always having to close the row.

2) The next 2 videos show the repainting issue some of us are having. The 2nd video shows BS not repainting after adding SPBToPlay Today plugin. This also happens when I remove some plugins as well.
The 3rd video shows me using a today plugin called "MultiDesk v1.07". This today plugin allows you to switch between different Today screen profiles. BS also as a problem repainting with this as well.


Also, as anyone else been successful at having the wifi networks row auto resize depending on the amount shown??

I think I may have solved the repaint issue. Ever since I've had my wizard I've overclocked it to 247 mhz and never had any issue with stability that I've ever noticed. Today though I decided to play around and lowered a little to 221 mhz and noticed that now, now matter how hard I try I can't reproduce the repaint issue any more with it at that speed. So, the issue may not be caused caused by cLaunch after all, it may be more of an issue with being on the outer limit of stability of the processor. Hope this helps.

i must admit that the online-validator isn't that expressive but extremely logic, but that's what the validator wants to tell you hehe

btw. you could add a top="7" value to the wifi-networks (label-tag) looking better a bit.

i can't reproduce it. it does work on my device and on all ppc-emulator i have.
Could you export your settings by options? maybe there is a combination causing this.

ok. i've watched the videos and it seems that the software you're using wraps the today-screen. All i can do is coding according to sdk and with this it is working.
I tried also with trial of wisbar advanced desktop and it works as expected, so i'm sorry.. i can't do anymore.
so far with the default theme of wisbar it is working.
BatteryStatus doesn't seem to work with MultiDesk and some wisbar themes...

but... i'm very interested if repaint is really an issue which isn't caused by an other software.

Oh ok. It says automatically hide wifi rows...I thought that is what it's suppose to do, HIDE the wifi rows. When it's not checked i thought it WOULD NOT hide the row. You probably should switch the fucntion around so that when it is checked, the wifi rows WOULD NOT show.

i have a problem with the wifi-rows:
after a softreset i enable wifi but batterystatus doesn't show any wifi informations. then i tap on the row 4 and then all wifi informations become visibile.
then i disable wifi, go into the batterystatus-optionns, change nothing and click ok. since then the wifi rows (row 4 & 5) don't work anymore. they display only "--, --, --," and "---". taping on one of them changes nothing.

I've got some minor problems with BatteryStatus. I'll try to explain.
Istallation looks just fine. But normally after installation, you see some small pictures in the 'menu' these are gone. Also the Traybar icons don't work properbly. Or they do not appear at all, or after a 'device lock' they are gone again. The other problem I'm facing is that the 'Cpu scaler' does not work. It just 'hangs' in the speed I set it into.

Tha strange thing is that a couple of days ago I had the same problem, I reinstalled BS from the device (HTC P3300) itself instead of the memory card, and after doing that everything was back to normal again. Last night I had to do a hard reset. After reinstalling BS again, the problems returned. But this time a new installation did not work. I tried it over and over again, from the device itself, from the storage card, everything, but it just did not work.

Does somebody have a sollution for this problem, or am I the only one?

Same experience...but i thought it depends on my PDAviet 4.0.0.3 Rom.
What WM version do you have installed?
Soft resetting solves this problem.

I've tried to find a solution for the prob, after I wasn't able to install BS anymore. It seems to be related to WisBar 2 or PocketBreeze. After deactivating these two today plugins in the settings (no deinstallation), I was able to install BS again. No clue why?

Hi Ikarus,

the installation problem is caused by PocketBreeze. Once the PlugIn is unabled in the today screen installtion succeed. Only one error is raising (that the prog is not abled to deinstall the old version), but ignoring by installing it anyway works.

An old thing, which was gone end of last year came back again with a version between build 210 and 220. When the indicator is copying the background it seems that it copies the upper region and once the screen display was off, the indocator is underscored. Please have a look at the attachments.

Well I found out something new. I first downloaded the *.cab file to my personal computer and then used ActiveSync to put it on my P3300. Properbly downloading to de personal computer wasn't a great idea because the *.cab file was only 72kb big. A few minutes ago I downloaded the *.cab file directly on my P3300 using the IE installed on my P3300. Suddenly the *.cab file was over 100kb, and now everything is just fine again :D

How would I add an icon in the left column (I want to use a pic of a phone handset) to my customisation below ? This is in use as a fourth view of Line 2 which displays the IN/OUT/Total Call Times, which already have their own default left icon for Views 1,2 & 3.

thanks for reporting. There was a bug. Fixed with build 0126. Could you try it?

yes. if an indicator is not active, then no cpu-power will be used for.
If you disable any polling indicators (see manual), then no polling for values is active.
BS is designed to use only the resources it actually needs to work quick and smooth.

I have the same problem, using 1.04.202 beta3 build 0202. If the problem occurs, it's usually at startup. Disabling and enabling BS solves it -- at least until the next boot.

Also, if monitoring a BOOLEAN flag or numeric flag which we want to translate to text can you provide an attribute in the schema to allow the equivalent of a 'case' statement e.g.

I still can't find out how to solve the DeviceLock issue on my WM6-Prophet, even though I've searched this thread.

When I go to Options -> Tools and Check "DeviceLock on WakeUp" item. After I click the power, my screen will show up again and I can see "Unlock" button on the left corner. That means I have to click power button TWICE so that I can put my prophet on standby mode.

I'd added "DeviceLockOnWakeup", and "DeviceLockExe" with the "Lock Device.exe" path in my registry, but seems no work.

However, if I execute "Lock Device.exe" first, and click the power, it won't show up the screen again.

How can I figure it out? If it already has link to solve this issue, kindly let me know where it is.

The answer is....that is a function of the app. The purpose of the scaler is to save battery life when you are not charging. But because you are connected (charging), the scaler does not need to function.

as i've written in the faq, as soon as the device suspends, then power-management is given completely to the system, which will scale down automatically and so on...

The only risk with overclocking is the possible lockups you may have every once in a while. A simple soft reset will take care of that problem though.

You need to download either default0.zip or BatteryStatusExt.1.04.203.beta4.CAB. They are two different versions. The second one allows for customizing with a xml file.

Currently the developers website is down, but at the website you can learn how to customize. Customizing just allows you to view more system info (like program memory, storage, SMS, call minutes, etc.) in different ways. If you just want simple overclocking, just install the default0.zip

After install, just use the option menu to overclock. It's pretty simple when you see it. The app will show as a today plugin.

The cab file is installed directly on ur device. Just transfer the cab to your device in any way, whether by PC or directly.

I noticed a couple of annoying bugs while using the REGISTRY_TRACKER class which you may wish to attend to when you have time.

(1) Some dynamic REGISTRY entries may at some times either contain an <empty string> or the Key Tag may be removed completley. BatteryStatus then refuses to update the displayed string, leaving behind the last non empty string that it found. Stopping and Restarting BatteryStatus fixes the display. An example would be when displaying the Last Caller Name and the Last Caller Number. When a new call comes in from someone not in your contact list then the Last Caller Number updates but the Last Caller Name remains... which is confusing. Can you have REGISTRY_TRACKER update the display with an empty string if the Key Value does not exist or the value is an empty string.

(2) If a string contains ampersand "&" then the output formatting you are using (which is a windows default) will interpret the "&" as 'underline the next character' so a string which in fact says "Marks & Spencer" will output as "Marks _Spencer".

I am currently using build 0218.

I am using V1.04.203 Beta4 build0218.

I meet a very strange problem with the "Devicelock on wakeup" function, I am using WM6, while I am selected this option, when I press "Power" button which suppose to shut down the pannel,I saw pannel shut down and then immeditely turn on with "Screen Locked"!,i have to press "Power" button again to shut down pannel.

I didn't select the option for "Lock if display is Off and vice versa" and "black fix for 10s-bug".

The right behavior suppose to be: Shut down pannel after press "Power" button and press "Power" again to wakeup device and shows last menu with "DeviceLock".

Can someone tell me how to remove the devicelock for first pressing "Power" button? thanks a lot.

Also I noted the call times arn't clear to me.

There is a down arrow (calls received) and that works great
There is an up arrow (calls made) and that works just fine too
Then there is a double arrow (I assumed it was a sum of all calls made and received) - that doesn't appear to work so well. Any thoughts?

NEVERMIND - it finally updated it just seemed to take a little while to total them up... (first incoming call was like 20 minutes ago and I called my voicemail a few minutes ago just to test the outgoing call counter and it didn't seem to fix the total until i had both an incoming call and an outgoing call and a little bit of time for the total to kick in)

When I installed build 218, I noticed that after adding a program on the TrayLaunch, My wizard will hang on the second splash screen after a re-boot.

I didn't experience this with build 0195.

When machine has "soft-reset", the BS will show up on Today, even though you have set "Minimize" before soft-reset. And the BS drop down menu will still have "Maxmize" item.

Also here a problem with BatteryStatus 1.04 in combination with WM6. DeviceLock does not seem to work correctly. When I press the powerbutton to put the P3300 on standby en press is again to power up the P3300, it's not locked at all :(

In WM5 I first had to unlock the P3300 after wake up, but this is not needed anymore. Strange.

I recently installed BS, and I really like it.

Though there are some strange things I noticed.

When it is loading (doesnt matter of USB via PC or PSU), the automatic overclocking/underclocking doesnt work. It always stays at 201Mhz. Not that it is that bad, but just to let you know. (maybe its even a feature^^)

And, when I look the keyboard and make a black screen, the hardware keys (ok, IE etc.) arent locked (this also happens with GSPlayer, maybe its a WM6 issue, or its just me)

And (but that also happened with the Comm Manager) when I for example switch on WiFi, the connection on the top still says "enable WiFi", although it is connected to my OpenWRT.

My unit is a XDA Orbit (O2 Germany) with WM6 (again the official O2 fw) installed.

I installed it on dopod 838pro working very well, except it keeps on waking up device bec of different cell id detection, i am using this for cell id though, but waking up every minutes is not good for battery. any work around, other then disabling this feature ?

May I ask you for a feature change? I would love to be able to have BatteryStatus just display the battery charge level, the operator and the current power use in one line only. Currently I need to allocate two lines for this information. Being able to edit the way the various information is displayed would be great. A bit like editing the xml home screen on the WM5 Smartphone devices would be perfect. Various controls that you can place anywhere within the plugin as you like.

Hey makedjakila, BS has a minimize function. When you minimize it, it will create an icon in the system tray. Than you can maximize BS to bring it back really quick

Sorry, I can't help you with your xml-file, but if you deactivate "Cell Broadcast Nachrichten anzeigen", the area code will disappear.

I installed the latest 220 build .cab on my HTC Touch and my call timer is not working correctly. My calls for the day says 86:27.44 and 01:12.28 for the month. I had an earlier version installed and it would not exclude any "call plans" that I would put in.

I've upgraded to WM6 (XDA Mobile 6 r2), using BS 1.04.203 beta 4 build 0219, and I notice that the daily counters (calls and data) are sometimes reset, it's happening a few times a day. I have the impression that it often happens during a repaint of the screen, but I'm not really sure. The montly counters don't have this amnesia.

I've also just got a 1800 mAh battery and not only is the temperature solid at 26.5 ºC, but also the power consumption is either 642 or 181 mA on idle. It appears to me that this plugin does not handle the large battery well.

Great utility, but I have some questions (running latest version on HTC TyTN with latest official firmware)...

1. The temperature appears to work inverted: idle it is about 43°C, when running an active HSDPA & bluetooth connection, it is about 26°C... I tested by holding the device in front of the outlet of an airconditioning unit, and the temperature rose...

2. The data volume counter is very interesting, but is it also possible to have seperate data volume counters? I connecting using a limited 10 MB data subscription on the SIM card in the TyTN, but also using a different 2 GB data subscription via a different bluetooth connected mobile. It would be nice to have seperate datacounters for both of them... :-)

I manage to set the Cpu to 286Mhz and it seems to work well.

I wanted to see the Cpu speed on the homescreen so i choose this option. What is strange is that after a few minutes the speed shows 201Mhz instead. So i go inside the menu and thinking that i need to change it back to 286 Mhz again. But its already on that, even though the CPU on homescreen is showing 201. Strange?

i think your device has Intel's PXA 270 XScale processor build in. The overclocking features of BatteryStatus only affect the hardware registers of texas instruments's omap850 processor.
But its a good idea to show the cpu-speed of any cpu...

Now i found out that if i click the 286Mhz one time it switch to 201Mhz. So i removed the show Cpu option. But now when i tap the battery meter it changes and turns a little bold. When i click it again it turns back to normal.

How do i know that the phone is running in 286Mhz all the time and dont switch back down to 201Mhz all the time? :/

I have to click on the BatteryStatus tab inside the Spb Diary to get the info display again. I have a theme rotator running in the background and it changes the theme every 4 hours. Do you see the same issue?

Yes, at me it also so. It because when BS it is built in the Diary, it has no at once activity and it is necessary to open a bookmark for this purpose again. For me it even is better. As if the additional switch. At me the theme does not vary so quickly.

This could be a Windows Mobile bug... On my previous firmware, once I had made a connection with a given name and deleted it. I could however no longer make a new connection with this same name: there was an errormessage stating that there is already a connection with this name.
If you know also get this error message when creating a new connection called "O2 DE", this means that BatteryStatus is reading the same incorrect information.

no1 can help you without having your settings.
- Export your settings by options->Advanced->Save/Export
- check the reg-file and remove your personal data
- attach the reg-file

hm.. your settings are ok. Keep in mind that BatteryStatus counts connections initiated from your device only.
Connections initiated from a pc by connecting the device to usb are out of the functionality's scope and is not supported.

Hello ikarus, thank you, but i tried and there is no difference.
SMS and Callings work, it's really only the data and to make sure i make no error, i slected all the elements for data transferts, it still does not work ;)
I will ask someone who use your software to make sure !

I have used batterystatus a long time and today I wanted to update it to a newer version, but the installation of the cab-file on wm5 (HTC Wizard) failed.
At first the uninstall failed that the programm cannot be uninstalled- nothing more... Then I tried to (re)install it...

Approach to install it:
- Go to folder windows and delete the file BSTPD.dll
- go to registry and delete all keys in hklm/software/microsoft/today/items/Batterystatus
- save the cab on the phone and execute it...

The installation breaks when the install progress has two bars...
Has anybody an idea how I can completly uninstall it for preparing a new reinstall??
I don´t want to flash my phone again...

what kind of other today plugins are you using? I've had the same prob caused by PocketBreeze.
The following method worked:

Deactivate PocketBreeze in today settings
Install BS
Activate PocketBreeze again


Sometimes there's a softreset needed after you have deactivated PocketBreeze.

Great Stuff! It has worked. But It was not enough to disable pocket breeze. I had to free up ram with sk tools and close all applications which were opened at that time... I think, a soft reset had brought the same effect.

i looked at the custom thing and i don't understand how it works or were to get values. is there one that has already been made?
I need something that shows, unread sms and emails, missed calls and voicemail.
I know there is other programs. but i like this program more cuz of the overclock status and the service provider.

In principle this should be an easy task by using the registry_tracker-class.

I am sorry if this question has already been answered but 200+ pages and the search function didnt turn anything up.

I'm running a hermes with windows mobile 6, when i enable device lock on wakeup and the visa versa option, it works until i do a soft reset, then it wont work again until i totally reflash the device. its happened with a few different roms and even in the official att wm5 rom.

ive tried removing reinstalling, everything i can think of. the device lock feature is the only reason why i want this app.

you could try the attached xml.
unzip the archive and copy the default.xml into "\Windows\BatteryStatus" (on your device).

It's just a simple 1 Minute example how you could extend the xml-file. If someone provides icons, then i could build them into the xml too ;)

It works great and I am finally very glad to have an over clock tool that keeps the CPU over clocked under any condition. Even OmapClock with OmapClock Plus would once in a while revert back to the original CPU speed. For some reason though it only shows the last two digits for Mhz. otherwise it works great!

This has already been mentioned once or twice in this thread, but I've seen no answer. When using BatteryStatus on a TyTN the temperature seems to be somehow inverted. When the device is cooling down, it's at about 50°C. After excessive usage (e.g. WLAN, Bluetooth etc.) it goes down to around 40°C. This happens regardless of the OS image being used (either official WM5 [I'm using a Vodafone branded device] or e.g. Schap's WM6 3.30a). Version of BatteryStatus I'm using is 0.04.203 (Build 217). Any input on this issue?

You could try adding a DWORD DeviceLockSkipCheck = 1 under BatteryStatus-Key as already mentioned some posts before.
BS then skips the check if your device is already locked.

Oh it's true ;) Thanks for reporting. It's fixed with build 0222. There's something special about Mobile Operator.. you can center it by options..

In fact, i've already implemented something similar build on top of the code for traylaunch. It's a very slight kind of cLaunch or some app-laucher with support by options and customizeable by xml.
It's not very well tested and i'm still doing some stuff about the design. Once it gets beta state, you will see it in BS ;)
I can't spend much time on developing, but i guess it will come to beta state at all.

I must think about starting of custom apps customizeable by xml for the ontap-action..

I just installed your program and everything works fine except for one thing. The program gives me an error about not being able to find a SD location and therefore can't use the emergency program. When I look at the name of the SD card it's actually named Mounted Volume, not sure if this could cause the issue. Is there a fix for this? Thanks. BTW, I have a T-mobile Wing.

You can still use an emergency-stop by several softreset-boot.up-softreset-boot.up and so on..
