View Full Version : I have Tuma 1.3, should I upgrade to 1.4 while waiting?

Hi,
I am currently running Tuma 1.3 on my O2 XDA III (Blue Angel without camera) and am patiently waiting for Tuma 1.5.

As Tuma 1.3 is a little buggy and it looks like it will be a while before a stable 1.5 will be released, I was wondering if it would make sense to upgrade to Tuma 1.4 in the meantime. I would appreciate some input from those who have ran both as I have heard that Tuma 1.4 is not exactly bug free, either.

I have the following problems/suggestions to make based on my experiences with Tuma 1.3.

1. Since the BT update, BT no longer switches off but now, my mobile keeps on switching on by itself. Sure I can live with this temporarily but is this fixed in 1.4/1.5?

2. I setup Outlook Email to access various Email accounts via IMAP and that worked reasonably well. Then, without warning, I can no longer see my Email accounts listed in Outlook, as if they were never there. However in the messaging section of the Today screen, it still tells me I have 3 unread messages which I cannot access. Is this problem known as is there a fix for it? I stopped using this feature due to this problem (it happened on a previous install of WM5, too).

3. I am missing Solitare, the only game I sometimes used.

4. As my XDAIII has a German keyboard, I use the BA_GER_Hardware_Keyboard_Patch_for_WWE_ROM.cab file to change the mapping. However, pressing the symbol key does not first give the common German special letters. e.g. if I type "a" followed by the symbol key, I get à, á, â and then "ä" which is the only such character I am likely to use. With the original WM2003, pressing a and the symbol key immediately showed "ä". Is there a fix for this?

5. I cannot use the XDA as a BT modem with my PC (modem profile missing). I currently put my SIM into another phone when I wish to go online with my notebook. Is there a fix for this in the later versions.

I appreciate any input on these issues.

Regards

All I can really say is that if you don't mind starting from scratch and wiping everything on your phone (emails, txts, etc) and reinstalling everything again, then by all means give 1.4 a try and see if you get on with it.
Personally I found it had quite a few annoying bugs in some places that forced be to downgrade again, but at the same time it does have some major improvements in other places. It's just a case of which bugs you want I think. :-)

If you don't want to mess about with your phone and just want to get a stable mobile, you'd be best to just stick with 1.3 for now.

Oh, as for the lack of games, if you goto the post of 1.4 you will see that TuMa publised a games pack that you can download. It works on 1.3 and 1.4 and comes highly recommended.

I am currently using the latest Ivan on my SX66 mainly because my bluetooth headset problem I have with TuMa does not exist with Ivan rom. I can press headset button and it will launch the voice dialer app!! That is something I could never get working on TuMa Roms. I will try 1.5 when it is released becuase I like that rom better overall, but this bluetooth headset thing is a show stopper for me. If I cant get it working with 1.5 I will have to go back to Ivan's roms. Personally I would stick with 1.3 or a different rom because there are a lot of little things in 1.4 that degrade performance over time and cause one to do soft reset to restore performance.
just my 2 cents.
