View Full Version : SIPChange: Changes the DefaultIM in AKU2

SIPChange v1.1 update: You can now change the timeout from its 10 second default
Here's my first programming contribution! It's for those of you who can no longer change their defaultIM using the posted reghacks after upgrading to AKU2.x. No matter what you choose, the keyboard SIP is always selected after a soft reset.
If you aren't having this problem, then you don't need this little app (unless, of course, you don't feel good about dinking around in the registry changing DefaultIM CLSIDs...)
The problem occurs because some AKU2 based service or process is changing the SIP back to the keyboard. This happens 4-8 seconds after startup programs run. As such, SIPChange is a workaround of sorts because when it runs at startup it waits 10 seconds before changing the SIP to your selected default. Go here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=55092) for more information on this issue.
SIPChange has two execution modes. If executed with no parameter, it presents the list of SIPs available on your device and allows you to select a default. Once set, this information is stored in the registry. If executed with "SET" as the parameter it minimizes itself, reads the default from the registry and waits 10 seconds. When the timeout expires, it sets the Current SIP to your selected default and closes.
How to use:
1. Copy the attached CAB to your device
2. Tap on the cab using file manager to install.
Now open SIPChange by tapping Start->Programs->SIPChange. You will be presented with a list of your available SIPs. Highlight the one you want to become the defaultIM. If you wish, you can change the default delay as well. Now tap the "Select" button. The SIP will be changed to your selection and SIPChange will close.
That's it! The next time you (or your automatic nightly backup) resets your device, the default SIP will be reset to your choice.
MOD EDIT (DaveShaw): The aformentioned CAB is here : http://rapidshare.com/files/208325629/SIPChange.CAB

Thanks Sleuth255!!
tested the SIP changer and it works.
Well done for the workaround, shame they had to go and mess things up in the first place!

Hi,
Thanks for the great app!! I do have one problem though, i can't get it to start up without prompting me. I have tried applying the SET parameter, but must be doing it wrong. Here is what I have tried...
in \program files\sipchange\sipchange_182.exe SET
and set the shortcut to be a copy of that...
I have tried it without set and have the shortcut name be sipchange_182.exe SET.lnk
I am totaly confused as to how to set it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seems to work fins but for one small problem.
Not sure what it is but I noticed things taking a rather long time to load.
I would take literally 2-3 minutes to paint the screen when opening a new application. I soft reset and no help. THen I started thinking what I did. SIPchange 182 was the last thing I did.
I had the shrotcut in startup
program files\sipchange\sipchange_182.exe SET
After I removed it everything runs fine.
I still have it on my 8125 just not startup .
is the "SET" correct or does it need to be something different for each method ie.
"block" for block input

Here's a little more explanation on how to install SIPChange:
First, make a new folder under program files called "sipchange" then place the sipchange executable (downloaded from the above attachment) into that folder and rename it if necessary to sipchange.exe.
Now, using file explorer, navigate to \program files\spichange and then tap and hold on sipchange.exe. Choose "copy".
Now, navigate to \windows\startup with filemanager and choose "Paste shortcut" from the menu.
Here's the part where you need a third party program. You now need to modify the execution properties of shortcut you just pasted into the startup folder. Several programs can do this. I use a utility called GSFinder+ which a free file explorer replacement. What you need to do is to change the shortcut execution properties from "\program files\sipchange\sipchange.exe" to "\program files\sipchange\sipchange.exe" SET
There is also a way to do this without any third party file explorers by editing the shortcut file itself with notepad on your PC. The thread that explains this is located here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=56123).
I'm not sure how my attachment got renamed from sipchange.exe to sipchange_182.exe tho....
@stainlesspc:
SIPChange shouldn't ever remain in memory longer than 10 seconds when run with the SET parameter. You can check this with settings/system/memory/running programs. So it shouldn't have any effect on program execution time unless you are somehow setting the SIP to something invalid. Try this: make sure that you have run sipchange.exe at least once with no parameter and set a default. I'm assuming you have already done this to sett the letter recognizer as your preferred default. If you haven't, it is possible that something strange may be happening because no default SIP registry entry is present. However, in this case, the set SIP operation should just return an error (which is ignored by SIPChange). I'll check into it though.
SET is indeed the only parameter it recognizes. When it sees SET as an execution parameter, it attempts to change the SIP to the input method you chose when you last pressed "Set Default".
Btw on my 8125 I just used SIPChange to set letter recognizer as my default thinking it may have something to do with the letter recognizer default iteself. Then I soft reset. Unfortunately tho, I'm not seeing the delay you mention :(. I'm not using the official Cingular AKU2 release as you though. I am running AKU2.3 from Summiter's multi-installer.

Hmm..seems to be a problem with setting transcriber as the default. When rendering my Today screen the transcriber menu bar gets displayed in the middle of the screen. Transcriber is the only input method after the keyboard that I would consider using.
However, I may still keep the exe on my device since launching it is still a heck of alot faster than doing the standard SIP change method on my K-JAM.

@JNGold:
The transcriber is the only SIP that has a "Transcriber Intro" splash screen
On my 8125, that splash screen has a checkbox called "don't show this" which would seem to be the fix for your issue.
To keep that checkbox from getting cleared on a reboot is a bit of a chore however. I had to select the transcriber, check the checkbox then select a different SIP then go back to the transcriber again (the splash isn't displayed). Pretty kludgy eh?
Now when I reset, the splash isn't displayed, and the transcriber menubar appears right above the softkeys. I'm running SpBPocket plus btw and I'm not seeing the menubar shift you describe. :(

Hey Sluth, thanks for responding. FYI I also have the trascriber splash screen disabled. What I was seeing is on a soft reset, that the transcriber menu bar was appearing a little below the lower half of the screen. I also have sbp today plugin, pocket breeze and battery status (in that order).
Sleuth255
5th August 2006, 03:11 PM
Yeah, I understand. I'm not seeing that on mine though. When I (finally) got the splash screen not to show on my 8125, the menubar always appeared right next to the softkeys. The only thing I can think of is that something executes on yours to update the today screen after SIPChange makes the transcriber default and this is somehow shifting the menubar up. When the menubar appears, does it initially show at the bottom and then move? I suppose I'd first try disabling all my today screen plugins to see if the problem goes away then, if it does, I'd re-enable them one by one to find the culprit.

My guess is there is some registry hack to disable Windows telling me that an app is not signed because when I originally got the phone it didn't do this, but since hard-reset and NOT installing all of the auto-install cabs it now barks anytime an app is not signed. I'll try to search for this, but can anyone point me in the right direction for this?
My reason is that I followed the directions to a T, ran the app once to set the default (it barked then too but I accepted manually and wondered if it would pose a problem). Now, after a reset, it says it cannot open sipchange because it either doesn't have a signed certificate or cannot be found. I know it's there, and I know it has the certificate issue.
I'd like to just disable this certificate signing "feature" so it doesn't bother me and allows this wonderful app to work. Thanks for all your work to solve this stupid "feature" (setting the SIP) that M$ obviously felt was a necessity and knows better than it's users.

I had hoped that SIPchange would solve a vexing issue for me. Something on the device...and I am also suspecting Spb Pocket Plus like some other posters... is stopping me from using the Fitaly SIP (www.fitaly.com)
Periodically, something stops me from selecting the Fitaly SIP. Keyboard is always launched instead. If I launch Fitaly as soon as I run the device, it sometimes helps for a while, but something always blocks it eventually. The only fix tht I have found is to soft reset.
Making Fitaly the default SIP can be disastrous. I have found that it makes my device unbootable - just hangs late in the boot process, again causing me to wonder if it is something to do with SPb Pocket Plus. I had to hard reset to fix this one.
So SIPchange does work... but only if the SIP is selectable manually. Is there any way you can force it to over-ride whatever is blocking me from Fitaly. (I guess we need to figure out what the problem is first. I'm hoping some smarter brains than mine will be able to figger this one out.)
Sleuth255
19th August 2006, 03:36 PM
my guess would be that some Fitaly support components need to be loaded that the SIP depends on. SipChange just launches the SIP itself based on what's registered. Perhaps you can launch Fitaly in startup first? I don't know anything at all about the Fitaly program itself so this is just wild speculation on my part btw...

....or your shortcut in startup isn't working correctly. Try setting your default to a stock SIP like the block recognizer and see if that works.
Here's another way to verify: You should be able to see the SIPChange program start when you re-boot. If you've got your shortcut correct, you should see "SIPChange" displayed momentarily on the left side of the title bar while the today screen is loading (in fact, it sounds from your post like you may have already seen this).

What you are seeing is correct (sipchange 4-8 seconds). Very odd that yours needs more than 10 seconds. What I will do is enhance SIPChange to allow you to set your delay in the dialog (it will default to 10 seconds).
hmmm... actually as I read your post again it seems to me like the delay isn't the issue, rather its that SIPChange doesn't always delay 10 seconds for you when executed with the SET parameter. That is very odd indeed.
What device are you using btw (does that icon indicate a MDA II)?

I should have read this thread earlier so that I need develop a similiar code myself.
basically, I have done something similiar, by running the utility at the startup with the CLSID passed as the command line. I have created a list of common SIP shortcuts (see below). I just copy one of the shortcut to startup so that the desirable SIP can become my default SIP automatically each time I soft-reset.
http://images14.fotki.com/v363/photos/7/78171/3852017/cap002-vi.jpg
I have also enhanced the utility recently to pop up a list of installed SIP for selection. I map my left soft key (using wm5newmenu) to the utility, so that I can switch SIP w/o having to tap on the SIP icon.

I think I figured out why Sipchange was not working for me. I run iLauncher and have safe mode configured to allow be to boot to safe mode when resetting (like mcube). That makes the restart take a little longer ans Sipchange is effectively running too early. I switched the setting to turn that off and now Sipchange has worked on four resets in a row.

I have been trying for a few days now to get the SIPchange program to work. I prefer to use the Block Recogniser as my default. I have installed the SipChange CAB file without a problem. This will work if I run the program after the MDA is on but when it is run as part of the phone startup (power off/on or soft reset) the program runs but it looks like something is changing it back again to the default setting.
I have a shortcut in the Startup folder and have tried this both with and without the SET parameter. Without the SET parameter the program runs and allows me to select the default SIP but after the phone has started the SIP goes back to the keyboard option.
I have had a good look on the XDA Delvelopers forum and whilst other people have had problems, no one seems to have a definate answer. Can anyone help me please?

Hey Sleuth,
No luck with Sipchange on an I-mate JasJam: ROM 1.31.305.2.
The shortcut is working on start up, and the program itself takes me to the default SIP selection, but, like others here, it seems as though the SET parameter changes the SIP too early.
Changing the default input is so frustrating!
Any chance of being able to customise the delay?
Cheers for all the hard work so far mate!

Thank you sooooooooooooo much for this - and thanks to Efjay for the CAB - i was getting a little worried about setting the shortcuts etc. being a noob
I had tried every reg hack I could find (and a variety of reg hack programmes) to get the LETTER RECOGNIZER as the default but none of them worked!
I have a brand new WM5 device so I was so pleased to find your solution! (after 4 hours of trying the same reg hack with different programmes!!!)
Worked a treat for me on WM5 on a Vodafone V1605 - HTC TyTAN / Hermes variant
I hope many others take advantage of this "hack"
Will the other "Reg Hacks" that are out there work with WM5??
Is it just this one that has this peculiarity where it seems to reset on start up?
I will give them a go one day - but whilst it is working exactly how I want it I think I will leave well alone!
Thanks again

"Die Datei "sipchange" kann nicht geöffnet werden. Es ist entweder nicht mit einem vertrauenswürdigen Zertifikat signiert oder eine ihrer Komponenten kann nicht gefunden werden. Versuchen Sie, die Datei neu zu installieren oder sie wiederherzustellen"
what means that SIPChange does not work because of untrusted certificate or one of its components can not be found.
What can I do?
for german rom u must change the startup folder link to programme not program files :)
it easy but very tricky

@Elenz: Try changing the following registry entry:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies
DWORD value "0000101a" change from 0 to 1.
already found the value to be 1 . but still telling: "The file SIPChange cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificat,o.....
Is there another way to override this?

Fnally found the solution!
in Sleuth first page post to explai the installation, he wrote: "First, make a new folder under program files called "sipchange" then place the sipchange executable (downloaded from the above attachment) into that folder and rename it if necessary to sipchange.exe."
Accordingly I had changed the extension to exe.The solution was just to copy again the cab in the same place and to launch it: after that I deleted the exe one.
And now everything is fine.
thank you

I installed SIPChange and it works well - the only problem I have is that whenever I soft reset (which happens every night because of SPB Backup), I get an error that says there was an error with gwes.exe - if I look at the actual error details it says Event Type is WinCE501bException and the Owner Name is sipchange.exe, so it's definitely SIPChange causing the problem!
I get the error message if I manually run the shortcut to SIPChange from the startup folder as well, and the strange thing is that I didn't even put the shortcut there - SIPChange seemed to do it for me...
Has anyone else seen this, and if so is there a way of fixing it?
Thanks :)

Hi Sleuth255, thanks for your awesome tool.
I use it as a part of my "German Input for WM6" release because my Trinity won't boot if I set my own keyboard (msimde.dll) as default in the registry.
Right now I tell the users to install it themselfes but I'd like to include it somewho.
Would you mind if I were to
a) add it to the release zip (proper credit will be added)
or even better
b) include it directly in the cab (obviously credited as well)
Please let me know if that's okay with you. It would make the install much easier for the end users.
PS: I may do a similar package for other languages as well...

SIPChange v1.1 update: You can now change the timeout from its 10 second default

Here's my first programming contribution! It's for those of you who can no longer change their defaultIM using the posted reghacks after upgrading to AKU2.x. No matter what you choose, the keyboard SIP is always selected after a soft reset...
Hi Sleuth!
Maybe you can help me. I have Japanese I/O enabled, and I use this app to chose "Roma/Kana" by default, but I have another problem. Now, I have "hiragana" by default, and I want to change to "romanji" (english output); but no idea how to do it (><)
Can u help me? I know other people with same problem, and nobody can fix.

Is romanji a different SIP or another aspect of the same SIP that's currently handling hiragana?
When the Japanese IME is installed, it has multiple SIPs including Kana (hiragana) and Romaji. The Romaji SIP can do both Japanese and English letters whereas the Kana SIP can only do Japanese letters. On the left of the Romaji keyboard, there are buttons that let you switch between writing English or writing Japanese using English letters. So I guess Romaji is a different SIP, but within this SIP there are buttons to switch between options. What we wanted is to have the Romaji with the English letters as the default keyboard to start in English, but still be able to switch to Japanese easily... Even when the Romaji SIP is default, it starts typing in Japanese instead of English.
(If any of this makes sense)
I'll try to take a screen capture later if I can to explain easier. Or maybe Sesaru can take a screen capture.

Is romanji a different SIP or another aspect of the same SIP that's currently handling hiragana?
I'll try to explain. With Japanese I/O, you got some new SIPs; In my PocketPC, that are:
-Hiragana/katakana
-Japenese Keyboard (demo version)
-Roma/kana
-Tegaki imput
-Tegaki search
They are different when you open them and you use the "on screen keyboard"; one have letters (Roma/kana), other have japanese symbols (Roma/kana), other is a kind of transcriber (Tegaki ones), etc. You can try by install japanese fonts:
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/LetsJapanNo5.zip
And Japnese IME:
http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/SIP/IME_31J_QVGA_F.zip
But when you're writing with the physical keyboard, all of them work the same. You have 5 different options, and you change between them by pressing a special key that is in Japanese keyboard in the left of space key. That options are:
-Hiragana
-Katana (2 sizes of letters)
-Romanji (2 sizes of letters)
Each time you start a program, you have "Hiragana" input by default. So, when you press keys of keyboard, in your screen appears hiragana letters.
If you want to write normal letters, you have to press the key I told you 4 times, to change to "normal letters". That is what we want to change, because it's quite annoying. Also, that makes that some programs don't work properly.

But no Idea who made this ROM.

Hi, I'm currently trying to make PCM Keyboard the default SIP on my (German) T-Mobile Vario II (HTC TyTN variant).
I have installed SIPChange, adjusted the link path to "Programme" and while it does load (tested that by deleting the SET parameter) it simply does not allow me to select PCM Keyboard.
The option is offered but when I check it and press select the default is still set to keyboard when I open SIPChange again.
If I choose for instance transcriber, this is immediately changed and also preserved if I go through a close/open circle.
Any idea what goes wrong? This SIP thing drives me crazy...

Whenever I run sipchange in "set" mode, I get the microsoft error reporter dialog telling me that gwes.exe crashed. I've had another service crash once another time too but it only happened once and I don't remember which one. Uninstalling (or actually just removing from startup) the link to the "SET" version of sipchange completely fixes the problem.
Different time out values make no difference. I'm attempting to set the block recognizer.
I can also cause this problem manually anytime i run the "SET" version link directly, so I know that sipchange is at least the catalyst, if not the cause.
My 8125 has been rock solid for over a year and I just happened upon this program after being frustrated with my SIP being reset when AT&T tells me i need to reboot if i get bad reception (or whatever other dumb reason). I'm running the AKU2 and it's the official version I downloaded right after it came out (I was jonesing for DirectPush). The only non-standard thing I've done on this unit is overclocking it to 216mhz (although I know others who run it at 240 with no problems). Anybody else having this problem?

To all the people having problems like "cannot load bla-bla or find any valid certificate...." the solution is simple because is wrong the shortcut in \windows\startup. The SipChange program shortcut points to \program files\sipchange. If you haven't WWE ROM, your directory is something like "programme" for german language or "programmi" for italian language so the software will fail to run.
I tumbled on this post searching for another thing and I cannot understand why no one of the more expert guys answered to this very simple question.

I've been trying to use this app to set PCM keyboard (v0.13) as default on my touch dual. Only thing is whenever I restart the phone it takes forever to load fully, everything looks ok, but as soon as I try to do anything, e.g. click on the start menu etc.. it just hangs and is really unresponsive for quite some time.
I've tried resetting and only installing pcm keyboard and this app with nothing else installed, no joy, same problems.

I wouldn't forget you guys :) could be an install bug... I'll check into it.
i had fixed the great tool from Sleuth255
here you can download the new fixed version.
fixes:
-----
- install/uninstall are now working (maybe ...the old install files you had to delete manually)
- fixed the correct autostart file for all versions
- fixed name: SIPChange.... in Uninstaller Tool - show name correct for unistaller
- overwriting rights
@Sleuth255
i hope you are not angry, that i had fixed it withot to ask you:confused::)
the bug is in the lnk file:
44#"\program files\sipchange\sipchange.exe" SET
this you have hardcoded, and you can't giver paramter to cab manager.
also there are some other small bugs in cab-file which are not in included ....
for that there is a solution with an extra SetupDll.dll in cab-file.
your programm itself do it right ...
EDIT: (reg keys which are made from/for your tool SIPChange)
and makes only the reg keys:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\The Paradigm Group]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\The Paradigm Group\sipchange]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\The Paradigm Group\sipchange\Parameters]
"Delay"="10"
"DefaultSIP"="TouchPal"
for you - i upload here an example how to create shortcuts with an SetupDll.dll project vc++

have you tried to play with the setting time ?
on the most systems it works with 5seconds - i had a lot of other stuff which use autostart -> and so i need 12seconds on my system.
please try to set the time higher.
also: please try to start the lnk file in the autostart folder per hand. if after that you have the correct wanted SIP default, then it is a problem with the start time.
if this doesn't work, then SIPChange wouldn't change your sip - then i would be wondering ...
let me know if this works.

BTW, if you had the old SIPChange and tried to installed the camel fixed, I noticed that it did not completely overwrite the old one. You will need to use the new one to uninstall everything and use File Explorer to remove a SIPChange link in the \Windows\Startup (created by the old SIPChange) and re-install camel fixed again.

Hi all,
I am experiencing a very significant slow down of the device after soft resets. This problem appeared after installing sipchange and disappears when it is uninstalled. I have tried the fixed cab made by camel aswell, with no luck. The device (Nike, Touch Dual) takes approx 20-30 secs to respond to any given input (touch screen or hard keys) and the problem lasts for a good 5-10 mins, after which everything seems fine. Otherwise the program works well, changing the default keyboard to Pocket CM Keyboard after each reset.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or does anyone know what it could be? Is there a fix or even an alternative?
Thanks in advance

It's annoying to have to manually set the device to touchpal all the time, but even more annoying and more time consuming waiting for the device to get to normal after bootup with this installed.

For FingertouchPRO this option is embedded.
I mean, it is normal to simply choose whether you like a sip to be the default or not.
I suggest you give it a try, you can download a CAB from www.fingertouchpro.com
You can use it in English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian or even Greek, and you can also define your own languages. For all these, it also supports an innovative fT9 technology, that makes possible typing with only 1 finger!

To be fair it does provide a potential option.....although I don't really want to switch away from touchpal.
Also, is it really true that a freebie app can do what touchpal can't, ie set itself up as the default SIP no hassle?

Sorry for the multiple posts.
Regarding the Freebie app, yes, that's true. There was a post about that but one of the moderators deleted it.
This app is... Fingertouch 1.0, that can be downloaded from: http://www.fingertouchpro.com/index.php?section=download

touchpal HAS the option to being the default SIP.
if you're using a language other than english, you can use SIPChange to put touchpal as default because the default sip option might not work.
SIPchange works great if you give it a good delay.
in my eyes, touchpal is the best SIP in the market... you can't compare fingertouch to it. the only difference is, that fingertouch is good for people who want a full screen keyboard. if it wasn't for that, fingertouch would be dead.

I have used SIPChange without any problems on several devices so far, so I mistakenly assumed it would work on just about anything, but I have run into problems on a new Samsung Omnia (SGH-i900). SIPChange causes the Omnia to hang after a soft reset. If I feverishly push buttons while it is booting I can prevent this, but I could not uninstall SIPChange to fix the problem. I installed the Camelfix version from this thread, and it also hangs but at least I can uninstall it. When I do, however, I get a message on startup that SIPChange.exe cannot be found. Any suggestions would be welcome. I have a registry editor that I can use if I need to, but since it is not something I do often detailed instructions would be appreciated if that is what I am going to have to do to fix this.
Many thanks,
Update: I suspect my problems were due to the fact that I have an Omnia supplied through Orange. Some applications (eg Sprite Backup) cannot be uninstalled unless they are signed by Orange.

I get a msg on startup "a problem has occured with sipchange.exe" It used to work fine.
Tried to reinstall, but it says uninstall old version first, but it can't, continue with new install.
I installed camel's version, then uninstalled that, then deleted the startup link, sipchange directory, and reg entry for paradigm properties, and soft reset.
Then installed camel's version, soft reset..."poblem has occured....."
Frustrating.....

That probably means there's a shortcut in Windows/Start Up that you need to remove. Just navigate there using file explorer and delete it.

First of all; thanks, it works.
However; is there any way of uninstalling this cab? :)
edit; nvm, should have read the rest of the topic first ;)

This is very easy to fix actually. The CAB file installs the link pointing to the "Program Files" folder. But in some ROM's the program is installed in a different folder, according to the native language of the ROM.
For instance, in my Portuguese ROM, all the programs are installed to a folder called "Programas", instead of "Program Files". This is no different with SIPchange.
So, to fix it, you either:
a) copy the exe file from the original folder to a similar one, in the "Program Files" folder,
b) or fix the link to point to your original program folder.
Works just fine.

yes, the cab seems to install the SET parameter
but this is not working with custom cdma juicy ROM

i had fixed the great tool from Sleuth255
here you can download the new fixed version.
fixes:
-----
- install/uninstall are now working (maybe ...the old install files you had to delete manually)
- fixed the correct autostart file for all versions
- fixed name: SIPChange.... in Uninstaller Tool - show name correct for unistaller
- overwriting rights
@Sleuth255
i hope you are not angry, that i had fixed it withot to ask you:confused::)
the bug is in the lnk file:
44#"\program files\sipchange\sipchange.exe" SET
this you have hardcoded, and you can't giver paramter to cab manager.
also there are some other small bugs in cab-file which are not in included ....
for that there is a solution with an extra SetupDll.dll in cab-file.
your programm itself do it right ...
EDIT: (reg keys which are made from/for your tool SIPChange)
and makes only the reg keys:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\The Paradigm Group]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\The Paradigm Group\sipchange]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\The Paradigm Group\sipchange\Parameters]
"Delay"="10"
"DefaultSIP"="TouchPal"
for you - i upload here an example how to create shortcuts with an SetupDll.dll project vc++
have fun
cu camel
i installed this version as well on my cdma touch pro and still not working setting touchpal to default... i tried delay as 1,5,10,20 ... if i press on shortcut.lnk (sipchange_setdefault) in the windows/startup folder... the SIP changes correctly .. but for some reason it isnt changing on reset.. i see sip change on the top left cornor after reset as if it is loading...
SO I INCREASED THE DELAY EVEN MORE TO 25 .. STILL NO GO...
THEN UPPED IT TO 30 AND WE ARE GOLDEN...
so for those having an issue ... try the version above..
make sure the link file runs when u click on it and changes your SIP .. if it does change it then mess with the delay timing... 25 didnt work for me but 30 did...

Thanks for this great application, works like a charm! I do want to point out for all the users here who have a non-english device, like me, you have to manually change the path where the sipchange.lnk shortcut (windows\startup folder) directs to.
Default = "\program files\sipchange\sipchange.exe" SET
but the Dutch Touch HD doesnt have this folder.
So for me it is: "\programmabestanden\sipchange\sipchange.exe" SET

Just a quick heads up to those using a Blackstone (HTC Touch HD).
Due to the time the OS and then TouchFlo takes to start up you'll need to set approx 50 seconds delay.
It took a couple of frustrating attempts to work this out but once I'd set 50 sec delay it works every time now.

I have the HTC Touch HD and I cannot get this to work after soft reset. I have tried setting the delay to the max 99 seconds but when the WM6.1 load screen appears long before the 99 seconds have passed I get an error - something about certificates or a problem with SIP not being able to run.
Also I cannot find the program in remove programs.
How do I uninstall the program so I don't get the SIPChange error on startup?
BTW I'm using PIN verification when I start the device my OS is danish and I found the sipchange folder in the "programmer" folder (danish word for program files) and not in Program files. Does this influence things?
Can I just delete the sipchange folder for it not to show up during boot?

guys - hopefully you can help.
Just hard reset my phone and attempting to install a few things again.
Installed sdkcerts and then sipchange...changed it to Fingerkeyboard and reset...I am getting a "Sorry, the application you were running has failed...do you want to send to MS" etc...the normal error message for sending data to Microsoft.
Any ideas how I can avoid this?

Sorry... I think I'm blind, but where can I find the SIPChange cab file?
....FOUND IT! THANK YOU ALL!

Would it make sense to edit the first post to include some sort of link to the .cab file? The only links point to a thread on which the .cab is based and several that link to threads about the poster's other apps, including one that points back to this thread. I've clicked on every link in that post and don't find any files.

3 versions of Sipchange (1.1, 2.0, camel-fix) have same problem on my official O2 WM6.1 rom,
Set init delay time to 30/45 secs? Failed,
Install Sdkcerts? Failed,
Install .cab to turn off certificate check? Failed,
Edit registry to change default sip? Failed & refuse to boot,
Install IMselector? It works flawlessly :)
Problem solved.

Hi@all. I've installed FingerKeyboard 2.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501122 on my MDA Vario V (HTC Touch Pro 2) and SIPChange to set this Keyboard as default. I have a german version of WinMobile 6.1 pro, so i had to the program path in the shortcut to "\Programme\SIPChange\sipchange". The problem is that sipchange crashes if i using SET and microsoft ask me to send a crash report. But after ignoring this the FingerKeyboard is set as defaul. I set the delay to 10, 30, 40 and 50 seconds.
Without SET as option sipchange starts normal after the pin request and i have to set the default keyboard from "keyboard" to "fingerkeyb" and press "select".
After installing imselector TF3D did not start
Help :'(
Edit: To read the whole thread helps :) Default IM works on my MDA Vario V. I only tested SIPChange V1.1 Mod Edit. Before testing another SIPChange version just tried out IM Default http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3433554&postcount=171 and it works :)

Somehow made it work. After some good hours wasted over the issue! :D
However, still get the error report window, so I had to disable error reporting... which means its not flawless?
Dont forget to use the fix version if you are having trouble with it. :D
Set it with 50 seconds and it should work, you might just notice a slight delay if you switch to some keyboard-using interface right after rebooting the device (will show you the older keyboard as default for some seconds until it suddenly changes to your choice). You could try and reduce this delay by reducing the second amount, but better safe than sorry for me. :D
As stated in first post this delay is what makes it work, Ive tried nearly all other apps created for this purpose on my Touch HD (DefaultIM, Ervius Selector...) and they failed. :P
PS: If you have SKTools installed, make sure you go on Maintenance>Input Tools and set your desired keyboard as default in there too, so that both SKTools and SIPChange dont conflict with eachother.

I face the same problem like that before i change the default SIP by using DefaultIM. If it's not work either, you can turn off M$ send feedback option in cpl.

I really like SIP Changer but the only problem is removing it. To remove it i remove the files from program files, start menu, startup and the registry entries but afterwards when i soft reset the device, it takes more time to boot.
Am i missing something?

I am using the sipchange program on my CDMA Touch Pro 2 to change my default keyboard to FingerKeyboard 2.1 WVGA. I have the timeoutset for 45 seconds and have experiment with various times up to 99 seconds back down to 10 seconds and I get a Sipchange.exe error after every reboot. My Fingerkeyboard program DOES however remain the default keyboard, so the only dilema I have is the Error Report problem, that I guess I can just turn off for now. Just wondering if anyone has this same problem. it worked fine on my CDMA TP.

I am having similar issues on my T-Mobile TP2- SIPChange (camel fix) does seem to make the appropriate changes, however, I get the message upon startup "SIPchange.exe has caused a problem". I have been trying to find a solution for setting the default SIP on T-Mobile TP2 for several days and have had no luck... many thanks in advance for a solution that works (and doesn't give errors!).
