Hi! First of all I'd like to thank you all for your hard work in bringing new release!
I'm tryingo to update Helmi_BA_WM2k5_AKU_2.3_Beta1 to new Midget v1.1 AKU2.3 ROM (PH20B) and upgrader reports Country ID Error 17-17-Vpfdjttl-N-N.
Is there something I'm not doing right?
Thanks!

try adding these files to the upgrade folder, then run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe instead.

Flash went well, speed seems good, but a couple of issues...
Extended ROM - didn't Autorun (no great shakes just ran the Autorun file manually)
Camera - Image is rotated 90degrees CCW
Oh, and as usual, no Wireless Stereo profile (option is there when adding device, but not available as profile :( )
I can live with these though, no major issues, and I'm going to hammer it tomorrow to see how it copes under pressure ;)

Flash went well! But for some reason Start pull down menu as well as pull down boxes or scrolling window is taking extremely long time to react. For example time between clicking on "Start" and seeing the menu may take 10-20 seconds.... Does anybody seeing this issue?

Just a thought... did you clear the Registry Hive and Format the Storage before you flashed?

registry hive and stotage were formated

A2DP issue is still there. While paring the device the option is there, but when you want to select the stereo profile, there is no option to do so.
The difference is that before, while paring the device it showed 2 services available:
Hands Free
Wireless Stereo.
Now it shows 3 options:
Hands Free
Wireless Stereo
Headset.
I have not experienced any other issues, exept for the buttons (you know, the IE and the mail buttons)(EDIT: all buttons are working ok now, I just assigned them other programs and then set them back to default and all was good) and also the camera bug.
Other than that, this is an AWESOME ROM!
If anyone could let me know if they have any ideas on the A2DP thing, that would be perfect

Did a few tests:
Bluetooth: Paired up with Motorola HS810, was able to make and receive calls handsfree.
Wireless: Got it enabled; once EXT_ROM installed, but was unable to locate any networks, whereas every other WM5 rom finds the 3 networks in range of my house straight away, will retest in the morning.
Phone: Ringing, vibrate seem to work okay, will try a longer call test tomorrow.
Button Lock: All working fine.
Quirks(Pedantic as well as showstoppers):
Error reporting is enabled by default
When paired, if you turn off the phone by the power button, it immediately turns back on, turning off again seems to work, but need a longer test to watch for random powerups
No Windows Media Player in Programs, only in Start Menu
Windows Media Player stutters on start of first playback of MP3
No Wifi in Comm manager, prolly a known issue
Brightness slider does absolutely sweet F.A
Responsiveness & Comments:
A bit on the slow side in comparison to AKU2.3_TEST_PATCHED_2 I tested earlier today. But this is to be expected in the absence of any tweaks or RAMDISK.
A great start, but you may want to change your release labelling to include ALPHA, BETA status, because the (ie, my) expectation with a 1.1 release is for it to have been fully tested first. Dunno if others feel the same.
Also it may be a good idea for the community to come up with a bunch of "UNIT TESTS" for each new rom that comes out, to make sure that no Rom goes backwards in functionality before release.
All in all great work Midget and all others who contributed, PM me if you need any roms testing.

Oh, and as usual, no Wireless Stereo profile (option is there when adding device, but not available as profile Sad )

No Windows Media Player in Programs, only in Start Menu
thanks, ill fix that asap
Windows Media Player stutters on start of first playback of MP3
trying to geta fix for this
No Wifi in Comm manager, prolly a known issue
known issue with all aku 2.3 roms atm
When paired, if you turn off the phone by the power button, it immediately turns back on, turning off again seems to work, but need a longer test to watch for random powerups
thats the Suspend fix, you can't have it both ways :P
Error reporting is enabled by default
didnt realise it was a problem
Brightness slider does absolutely sweet F.A
thanks for the heads up, ill get working on it
the absence of any tweaks or RAMDISK.
tweaks are there, ramdisk is coming soon.
My PDA is VPA III with PH20B2!
if you have a camera use the PH20B rom if not use the PH20B1 rom. whichever one you use edit set operator.bat so that all PH20B/PH20B1 are changed to PH20B2
Midget.. can you post up the SAP for your ROM?
It's the uni + wizard one from the main thread with a few modification so it works better.

Hi Midget_1990,
Disabling all of the sound notifications made my device at least 1000% more responsive... Now pull down Start menu pop-down almost immediately! I believe the problem is somehow sound notification related.... Just my thoughts thou... I'll do more testing, will let you know if find anything
Midget_1990
13th July 2006, 10:14 AM
i dont know why that happens for you, my startmenu etc is instant with or without the sound notification, no noticable difference :?:

Hiya mate, cheers for the reply, I suspected a few things already had fixes.
Another one I have noticed is that for me, when I put the phone in flight mode. The flashing service LED/roaming light on the right still continues to flash.
As for error reporting, on most ROMS, AFAIK its disabled by default for speed increase.
I think with early WM5 roms you'd also disable most sounds to gain extra speed.

HEY I UPGRADED AS WELL.
FEW THINGS TO BE NOTED :
SLOWER THAN IVAN W RAMDISK (THATS WHAT I HAD BEFORE UPGRADING TO THIS ONE).
HARDWARE BUTTONS (LIKE IE CAMERA) DINT WORK AT FIRST.. SO I CHANGED THE CONFIGURATION LIKE MENTIONED BY SOMEONE TO DEFAULT AND IT WORKS NOW.
MSN MESSENGER STILL NOT WORKING GET ERROR LOGON FAILED SERVICE STOPPED RESPONDING PLS TRY AGAIN.
CONNECTED TO MY ROUTER FINE.. GIVES ME 3 NETWORKS IE CONNECTS FINE AS WELL
I NOTICED A WIERD THING.. --- ACTIVESYNC COMES IN RUNNING PROGRAMS WITHOUT ME ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING. TAKES SYSTEM RESOURCES I GUESS.
CALL DELAY IS DOWN TO ONE RING (WHICH IS TOLERABLE)
AGAIN SLOW IN GENERAL .. I'M ASSUMING RAMDISK WILL MAKE IT FASTER.
NICE WORK NONETHELESS!!

1.Start Menu drop down immediately when I turned off sounds for Events(Warnings, system events) and it is recommended to turn off Keypad Tone. I also disabled Error reporting to have my devide working properly.
2.About the Comm Manager, I could easily to turn my phone to Fly mode, but it is more difficult to re-enable phone function again.
3. In Setting - System - Power: I could only see the main battery power remaning, Backup battery power remaining was dissapeared.
4. In Setting - System - About:
Processor information displayed as blank and also information about memory.
5. System halted as I tried to play Windows Default ringtone in Setting - Personal - Phone.

FlightMode depend on Radio (like WM2005 Hima with Radio 1.18 ), difficult to turn on, except use AppFlightMode or VJ's shortcut.

I've done a search for aku2.3 and i'm still confused.
1. It's my understanding that it is kindof a service pack rom, is that right?
2. What exactly does this rom or the logout one offer that is so desireable?
3. Are either of them faster than ivan w/ramdisk?
4. What are the differences between this aku and logouts aku?
If there is a thread that will explain this don't hesitate to point me there, i just havn't found it. thankyou :D

i wouldnt recommend using the rom other than for testing purposes, inr egards of differences, think of it like windows xp (WM5) and windows xp sp2 (aku2.3)

What are the differences between the PH20B and PH02B1 versions?
EG: I have an SX66 that i added a camera onto. Should i use the PH20B version, or are there other fixes for the SX66 in the PH20B1 version?

use the ph20b version, but edit 'set operator.bat' so that all 'ph20b' is changed to 'ph20b1'

Does the wifi on your rom work? I couldn't get it to work from a fresh install or with the wifi / msn fix. Is there a way to get it working?
I tried your rom and so far i like it the best. On my sx-66 whenever i connect helis to ativesync, leaving wifi on, or turning it on shortly after, the phone slows to a crawl and never recovers. Your's doesn't seem to do this. But i must have wifi.

heh, this rom is really out of date, i suggest you dont use it and wait for me to finally get my new one working (been trying upxing it and aku 3.0, both are too unstable)

Nice ROM Midget!!
This is the only ROM I've flashed my M2000 with that completely works with TomTom 5.21 and my bluetooth GPS. Phone works well, havnt tryed the MMS yet. For some reason I cant see my wifi connection but I'll have to go with out as everything else works so well!
The ext rom didnt autorun, but this is just a minor quirk that could be resloved with a bit of time like the rest of the 'issues'

Hi,
I didn't want to use 'versus', because I believe all devs are more collaborative than competitive.
But i would like to ask Midget what is the rationale on his choice of AKU 2.3 instead of going to 3.0.
Is it faster? more stable? what are the significant features, if any, which we 'lose' by not going 3.0?
Also, how does it compare with Helmi 1.1? Which features are in one and not in the other?
Speed-wise, how do both compare?
Also, if a re-release is going to be out with the A2DP fix, please add a revision number (1.1.1) ;)
And thanks for the effort!

try adding these files to the upgrade folder, then run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe instead.
I am from the Philippines and my unit is a kjam (imate).
I tried moving the file as posted and ran the MaUpgadeUT_noID.exe but upto now I still cannot flush my ROM.
============================
The ff were the activities I did:
1) I 1st ran the ROM upgrade. I got an error - "Country Error".
2) I downloaded the file (as posted) and moved such in the upgrade folder.
3) I ran the MaUpgradedUT_noID.exe.
4) It ran for a while then the screen the data(version) of my device flashed in my PC screen. When I pressed continue, it ran for about 30 to 45 seconds, then I noticed that the sync icon turned from "Green" to "Gray" - meaning it was disconnected from PPC.
5) Then after 2 or 3 minutes, I got an ERROR on Connection.
6) I still ran it for about 5X but I still got the same problem in the connection.
7) My last action: "Turned off my CPU" and "PPC to Hot reset". Then ran MaUpgardedUT.noID.exe. I still experienced the sync icon turning "green" to "gray" and got an Error on Connection.
===========
This morning:
I ran the MaUpgardedUT.noID.exe. The connection was not terminated - I managed to get thru. The message/instruction I got is as follows:
a) That I should facilitate cold reset.
b) That I will a strange image in the screen but this is normal.
I did not see any strange image in my screen but I did the cold reset.
The RESULT: I ended up nothing. I am still using my old ROM. I ran again the upgrade, this time the "Connection Error" was again seen.
Can someone assist me, please ?
Is kjam compatible to the romupgrade ?
Many thanks,
