ok I know this sounds like a dumb question, but is edge available in the uk? (i assume not).
today I was in manchester and my gprs icon changed to an edge one, I made a connection and was able to check my email.
when I got home it had changed back to the usual gprs icon. I did not reset the device at any point.
any idea why this happened?

I had heard rumours of Orange trialing EDGE, can't remember where I got the info tho, just recall seeing it somewhere.
I was working for orange up until the begining of the year so it could have been there.

Orange are the only people deploying EDGE in the UK from my research a couple of months back and expect over 1500 locations withit by the end of the year...see http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/Feb2006/2548.htm

Next time i go to the same location i will see if it happens again.
