let's admit it: it's not very comfortable in the pocket. i was wondering how are you carring it? in the pocket? with a clip-on case attached to your belt (pls share which case)? in your briefcase?
i'm still looking for the most comfortable way...

I can not carry it any place but in the trouser pocket. :D I have broken many belt cases or holsters.
Gramicci, a company that makes clothing for rock climbing made a pair of trousers with a pocket sewn on the right thigh for carrying GPS or cell phone and it fits the Wizard nicely. I do not know if they still make these trousers but they are my favorite....

I'm just using the clip-on case that came with my T-Mobile (US) MDA. Its plain, but does the job.
Eventually, I play to get a better case, debating between a good metal case like

or
http://www.thepocketsolution.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PSI-8952&Category_Code=mda_iv_accessories&Product_Count=12
The latter is most likely what I'll get, as it looks like its fast to pull out, and provides adequate production, but I like the durability of the metal case.

I switch back and forth between the default Cingular 8125 belt-clip case and a PDair Aluminum case. When I use the aluminum, I carry it in my pocket. It's quite a brick with the case.
The PDair case can be seen at
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_200&products_id=2377
Honestly, both cases have their virtues. The aluminum case undeniably provides better protection. However, it also severely degrades signal quality. In order to have a conversation, I have to actually remove the the phone from the aluminum case or else the call quality is abysmal. The aluminum case also ruins the EDGE/GPRS connection. All of that said, sometimes I prefer the aluminum when I want to be sure that the phone is safe.
The belt-clip case keeps the wizard out of my pocket, but keeps me more protective of the phone while it's on my belt.

I use the case that came with my 8125. It works great, I have not had any problems with it.

Just in the pocket of my trousers. I'm not fat, so it's fit just right.
Should not be a millimiter thicker, then I got a problem.
Only problem is to get it, sometimes it's not so easy and sometimes I hit the Red (end call) button when I reach for it :)

Fits in my pants pocket just fine, even with the BIG extended battery. I just make sure the display is in (against my leg) which is a good idea anyway.

I also carry it in my pocket. It's not as big as I thought it would be. It's certainly bigger than a regular phone, but for a PDA phone it's not too bad. I also always make sure the screen is facing my leg, just in case something hits my leg, at least it hits the back and not the screen.

I carry it in the front left pocket of whatever pants I happen to be wearing (be it jeans at home, or khakis/dress pants at work), usually in its PDAir aluminum case. I have the same signal quality issue as everybody else, but as I barely ever talk on the phone I can keep it in the case all day long.
The only issue I have is when I'm wearing dress pants, as they're of thinner and tighter material. I've been carrying the phone w/out a case as of late (I have a screen protector on it and the housing is already beat up, so I'm not too worried), but I just ordered a leather belt clip on eBay today for when I'm at work. I'm not too worried about looking like an idiot, as pretty much anyone working here (I work for IBM) has their cell on a belt clip.

I bought this case on Ebay to use with my Cingular 8125.

When I'm at work, I use the beltclip and wear it on my belt. Other places, I throw it in my purse -- with the case MINUS the belt clip. Since I have individual ringtones assigned to certain contacts, I don't need to flip it open to see who's calling. I can just hit the answer button and start talking.

Yup, watch out all you pants pocket carriers. Not exactly sure how it happened. It was only in there for a few mintues (pants pocket in my jeans) and when I pulled it out it was shattered.
A bit of a pain to get it fixed too, these are the options I've come up with:
$169 USD - http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~Cingular_8125-559~area~repairs-Full+Service+Repairs~item~IMT-LCD03.htm
Over $300 USD - http://www.apexlaptops.co.uk/
Luckily I bought it on good old VISA so will be calling in the 90 day buyer protection feature. You gotta love how our society protects us from our own stupidity. ;)
Cheers.

Looks like I'll stay with the trouser pocket for awhile. They should design clothing with a pocket for these things, they ain't going away....
And thanks for the tip on the Aluminum cases. I'm not pleased with the signal strength on my 8125 as is so the AL case won't help.
And hello to all, I'm totally new to these devices but I like my 8125 so far.
Trouser pocket usually when I'm wearing shorts (bigger pockets, not in the aluminum case). When I'm wearing jeans, it's almost always in its aluminum case hanging from my pocket if I'm not wearing a belt, belt if I am wearing a belt. Sitting at my desk at work, it's usually out of the aluminum case unless I'm wandering over to the other building. Then it winds up in either my back pocket, or the aluminum case. And no, I don't forget that it's there when it is in my back pocket. :)

After my first 8125 went overboard, I ditched the stock case that came with it and purchased a Sedio holster. This thing is indestructable. I caught my 8125 on the boat's lifeline the other day and I damn near went overboard.....

In a zipped front pocket of my bag (over the shoulder rucksack-y thing)
Not enough space in the pockets of women's jeans!

I use a small (ripstop nylon) digital camera belt case from Tamrac that I got from Circuit City. The case that comes with it is okay for dress, but I don't like the way it leaves the corners of the devise exposed.

I bought the case from Krusell. Everything matches great, I can use all Buttons, there's a little pocket for another MiniSD-Card and the clip-system allows more ways to fix it somewhere. Usually I wear it on my belt.
But it matches only with the standard back (not with extended battery).

I am currently using the magnetic clasped case that came with the device and that has seen me to Japan and then to Scotland, so it seems to work. It has spent most of its time in my trouser pocket and occasionaly in my bag. The only problem is that it's not particulalry easy to use it from inside the case - it takes time to get it out. Also, I didnt use the belt clasp on the side of the case which generally makes the whole thing too bulky. If that was not on there it might be a worthwhile case.
I have also carried it around for short periods with no case on it (which makes it easy to get out, use and then put away), but I was worried of breaking the screen (which has a screen protector to stop me from worrying about getting it scratched).
I did order an aluminium case which was meant to arrive before my trip to Japan, but it didn't. Should finally get to pick it up in August and I am hoping it will be sufficiently small (ie, with no "useless" clasp on the back) for me to use it instead of this leather thing.
Am also planning on getting my old phone unlocked so I can use it as a temporary phone when I need to go somewhere where there is a greater risk of me damaging the phone or greater need for it to be smaller (like black tie events).

I didn't use to use anything. Just carried it in my pocket but after going from a Razr to the Vario, it was strange having something so comparatively bulky.
Since my screen broke and I had to pay to have it fixed, I've been using the magnetic case with belt clip the phone came with. A shirt of t-shirt generally falls loosely over it so it doesn't stand out much.
Would only beinterested in a different case if it were thinner than the standard case.

what bothers me is that the attached case is horizontal, and its a bit funny wearing it like that on the belt.

I lost my first Vario and I blame it on the belt clip. I’m still looking for something thin which will allow me to dump the phone in a pocket.

I usually just keep my in my pocket when at college or around the house.
At work I use my the Krussle case and have recently started using the belt clip. If go anywhere where I must get drunk and drop the phone, I use the Krussle case!

yah i just plop it in my pocket. But i go out to bars a lot, and when inebriated, i miss the pocket, or when sliding it open to message it magicly flies out of my hand. Hence its got a couple dings on it, but the wizard is suprisingly sturdier than the magician so it doesn't look that beat up.
I'm actually looking for a case that might replace my wallet. One that can hold 2 or 3 cards (ID and Debit Card and another card) and maybe a money clip. Which also allows use of the keyboard(device to slide open) That would be the perfect case for me. Till then, just be carrying it in my pocket.(but no drunk bar fights when its on me :( )

The stock case is okay, but I had trouble with the flimsy belt clip that caused the MDA with case to hit the floor twice. Since I ride a motorcycle, I'm constantly worrying it will be lost forever one day.
So, I returned to Sena that provided a fine case for my Ipaq, but after one week I found a serious flaw. Although the case is well-designed, exposes all functions except the keyboard, and the belt clip is very secure--the clip swivels 360 deg. and will allow the PDA to flip upside down. With the magnetic closure, the MDA fell out twice in one week. I decided a snap closure was now a necessity.
I then undertook and exhaustive search for the perfect case. I wanted a Piel Frama, the model that allows keyboard access in the case, but couldn't find one at a reasonable price ($75 at their site). In a review of eight cases for the Wizard (http://tinyurl.com/f4fx3), both Krusell cases (Cabriolet and Handit) made a good showing both for function and value. These two cases were avalable on Ebay, so I bought both for about $20 each shipped, neither having arrived yet. I think the Cabriolet will be good for working out, and the Handit, which has a flip, the ticket for motorcycle riding and general use.
I know a source for a used Piel Frama, and if the Krusells don't make me happy I'll buy it. Look for a case sale here in a few weeks. Can we make sales pitches here?
