:(
after I did it the screen blinked and died. I checked the device with Pocket Controller and it is still alive and working 100%. I guess that the screen connector is out.
Any ideas how to fix it myself? and thoughts from anyone?

Hate to say it but your screwed. It's going to be very pricy to get it repaired and unless your a real wizard you shouldn't do it yourself because you might just screw it up more then it already is.
I've had this with a laptop of mine and its faith was going through a pricy repair.

Wow how did you manage to turn it 360 degrees? Were you really pulling on it to get it to turn all the way around? You might try downloading the factory service manual off the FTP site and then taking the screen off to see what you did.

that is the amazing part - it was very easy, very low resistance. I even do not know if it is 360 or just in the wrong way. Anyone else can help?

Theres not really a way to repair your flex assembly, unless you are very good with a SMD soldering iron and can repair the ripped cables under microscope with at least 30x maginification. Theres no way other than this (unless you sent your device to athorized service, which depending on country will set you back 105 - 140 Euro, and of course you get warranty for this)
Also you need to open up the whole device in order to work correctly with the flex. IF the flex is not too damaged and those ripped cables can be put together again!
You can check and see, when you turn the screen, theres 1 small black screw which you can unscrew and lift the whole assembly up, and you should be able to see the extend of the damage.
I've done a few of those flexes untill now, and they are hard repair.

It aint for sure they are ripped. It can be that it just got jagged out of the connector.
But in any case, pull the battery and dont touch the device before repair.
You could very well shortcut other components if they are ripped, so stop fooling around with it any more

From another forum I notice there is now an updated, more robust pivoting mechanisim for the exec. See the picture attached. Any ideas where we can buy this part from?

It depends how many times u hv rotated 360 deg..if once then there shouldn't b any problem, but 3-4 times..then yes u r in trouble.
You cannot see on the display this means that the central Pivot cable has twisted inside and this has caused the slight detachment of the other end of the cable on the Mother Board.
If u can open with the Guide posted, then u can untwist it and restore it back..else u will hv to change it.
One cannot solder/repair the cable..
Do replace it fast, else it will hv effect on Camera and Sound as well..
