I just recently changed my phone from the 8700C to 8125. I am planning to up uprade the ROM on my phone. Can anyone please tell me the step by step instruction how to do this? I read somewhere that I need to unlock the CID? Is that the same as unlocking my phone? Do I first need to call cingular to the subsidy unlock code? My phone has this info:'

IPL: 1.08
SPL: 1.08
OS: 1.8.11.1
GSM: 01.16.11

Doesn't sound stupid, you ask really good questions. The only problem is that it sounds inconsiderate.

The answers to every question you have are here already. All you need to do is read (and use the search function --> see top of page).

Everyone here was once a newbie. Many of us jumped in a just thought we could ask and have all of our questions automagically answered. In reality we discovered that if we put in a littel effort to search and wade through the mounds of info here we got better responses for the experienced guys. Eventually some of us even got experienced ourselves!

If you are wanting to do more than just flash the latest Cingular Rom then please spend a week or two reading the forums.

I say all of this because flashing custom roms does void your warranty and many newbies have cried about turning their nice new phone into a brick becuase they didn't want to invest the time to learn about the process.
