HTC has not released any official rom upgrade yet. You can find the Dopod rom in the FTP:

ftp://xda:xda@xda-developers.com/Uploads/Hermes

as always, upgrade at your own risk :)

Yup, been using that for a while now.
Works pretty well, but I like flashing. ;)

If you read the instructions, it says to run it again when it gives the error.
Worked for me.

I have now run it 5 times with the same result, so the phone must be locked.

Did you encounter screen alignment problem with Dopod ENG ROM?

Could you post a screen shot to show the information including ROM, Radio, Extension ROM... etc.

Thanks.

Hi,
I'm new to this site and thinking of purchasing the HTC TytN.

When trying to access the ftp site it asks me for a username and password. What do I use?

Thanks
Ari

hi, does anyone know if the rom on the ftp site upload section "CHT9000_ENG.exe" will work on a german XDA Trion?....im thinking of buying the trion and i need to reflash it to english and also apply the keyboard hack as this device have the QWERTZ keyboard layout.......also on the instructions when flashing, when the error comes up and it says to re do it again.....do u actually have to start from the beginning as in unplug the device etc etc and plug it back in or can u just execute the file as soon as u get the error?......just want to be ready for this stuff when i get my device......hehe.....thanks in advance.

I've just bought a taiwanese CHT 9000. Does anyone here feels that it is stupid for the manufacturers NOT to make a factory HERMES/TyTN/Trion in ENGLISH Instead of making us going through all the risks and hassle?

COME ON! ENGLISH IS THE MOST COMMON LANGUAGE IN THE WORLD!

For the record, my CHT 9000 was shipped with the following ROM, which I believe was ONLY for the Taiwanese market: 1.18.751.2 (Traditional Chinese). After all, "CHT" a.k.a. (Chunghwa Telecom - www.cht.c*m.tw) is a Taiwanese(-only?) service provider. No real need here for English anyway. 99.5% of the locals want Chinese anyway and need the fonts for their contacts aand e-mail. I flashed to WWE and added the Chinese (mostly successful) by adding Monster Chinese 5.3 because I use local GPS navigation (Papago R12).

The English ROM found here (1.23.707.1) works okay for me (need to reset every day or two). It pairs up with an i.Tech R35 stereo headset okay (A2DP) but I'm still not sure about sound quality. Need to test more.

The hardware is HERM200. S/N=HT624F2#####
The keyboard's control characters (as seen in pictures if you look closely) are mapped differently. If these Chinese-keyboard CHT9000's shipped with an English ROM, there would most likely be complaints about the keyboard 'not working' properly.

EDIT: Thanks, Qing84.... my keybard is back to normal after a simple registry edit (using TRE v0.90) and a soft reset!

Personally, I can wait for a fix/patch for this. The on-screen keyboard works fine to overcome the mapping difference.

Now that I'm familiar with WM5.0, I _would_ like to revert back to the original ROM to test it out but it's nowhere to be found. Sooner or later, though, a revision will pop up.

Upgraded to the CHT 9000 English ROM, works perfectly so far apart from the different keyboard layout.

This can be fixed by changing some settings in the registry. It restore local language support for sliding keyboard after upgrade to a different language ROM:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty

There is a key called 'Layout' and it is in Decimal
The default value of English ROM is 20409, and Chinese ROM is 20404 (both are in DWORD). The suitable value for German Hermes keyboard is 20407 (132103 in decimal), not 10407 (66567 in decimal). Probably Hermes use 20+country ID (409=WWE, 407=German, 404=Trad. Chinese, etc...) format for keyboard layout value.

Edit at your own risk. It works for mine.[/img]

My serial number is HT630F

And it has the Swedish version (with swedish keyboard too)
OS version 5.1.195 (build 14955.2.3.0)
Rom version 1.18.263.2
Radioversion 1.07.01.10
extrom 1.18.263.104

I don't see the alignment problem

If of any interrest I can upload the ROM

Could somebody please tell me the difference between the English Dopod ROM and the HTC ROM?

I have just purchased a HERM200 with HTC ROM 1.18.255.3 and am curious as to if there is any benefit from flashing to the Dopod ROM?
