Yes, it does come with a belt clip. I haven't installed mine, and I'm not sure what you mean by "at different positions", but it appears the same as all the other removable belt clips.

I mean, can I have the belt clip stay at different angles or does it just giggle around. I like to move my phone into different positions and for it to stay there. Just like the Seidio clip. http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=589

OK, I checked further and yes, the belt clip has a ratchet in it that it will (should) hold the phone in different positions.

I bought a Krusell: http://www.krusell.se/product.php?productID=2316&category=51

This case may be the best case I've had for any phone. It's easy to get into your hand and it doesn't mess up screen orientation like the factory case does.

I bought from sfplanet on ebay. Good pricing and reasonable shipping.

will the plastic that is covering the keypad on the krusell orbit loosen up the phone and the keypad? If yes, will it hurt the phone a lot? should I remove the plastic or not use the case altogether.

Funny thing. I also want a plastic case for 200 but WITH the plastic window over my screen. LCD is the most fragile part of the whole phone, it's susceptible to punctures and if you scratch it you can't just by a new one for $10 - $20 and snap a new back on...
I like to carry my 8525 in my left hip pocket rather than on my belt. Like you, I was concerned about scratching the screen with my keys and other things in my pocket. I was also concerned about scratching the phone and buttons but mainly the screen. I carried my 8525 in an eyeglass case while I was looking for a case that I could carry in my pocket. After reading the various reviews on this site, I opted to purchase InvisibleShield for the screen from www.shieldzone.com (http://www.shieldzone.com) and the ActiveCase from www.boxwave.com (http://www.boxwave.com). I've been using both for about a week now and I think it is a winning combination. The InvisibleShield is excellent protection for the screen while still allowing the touch-screen features of the device to work. I've read that some people were disappointed with the InvisibleShield because it slowed down their stylus strokes but I personally haven't noticed anything negative about it. As for the ActiveCase, it looks and works great. It clips snuggly on the phone and unless you happen to somehow break the tabs that hold it in place, I don't think you'll have any problems with it coming off. In fact, it actually fits so well that removing takes a little effort. You have to pull the tabs away from the phone to get it to come off and although, it isn't hard to remove, it's not going to just fall off either. Plus, the ActiveCase looks good. I opted for the smoke colored version and it matches the phone and looks sharp. All of the buttons are easily accessible but are recessed below the case's protective perimeter; I like that because I've had problems in the past with carrying phones in my pocket where the various buttons would get depressed accidentally and modify phone settings or what have you. My last phone was a RAZR which I liked a lot, at least from a style and form factor standpoint and I had a snap on type case for it that reminds me of the ActiveCase. It caused the external buttons on the RAZR to become recessed which fixed the issue with accidental button presses while maintaining their accessibility when actually needed.

Anyway, I like the ActiveCase/InvisibleShield (for screen) combination. I can now retrieve and use my Cingular 8525 from my hip pocket without concern of damaging the phone. I live a fairly active life which keeps me running about 16 hours a day and in the week since I've had the ActiveCase, I've already noticed that a few minor scratches have formed on the case, most likely from my keys which I carry in the same pocket, but the phone is still in pristine condition. I don't have a problem with the case getting scratched, that is why I bought it after all. And like you said, if it gets too bad, I will simply buy another one to replace it.

Regards...

I purchased the Seidio holster case a while ago and like others on here have enjoyed it. However, I have found that if my arm accidentally hits the spring clip while I'm walking, the 8525 will fall out. I also do not like that I have to remove the 8525 from the holster to access the stylus.

Thus, I tried out this inexpensive holster case I found on ebay and I have to say that it is perfect for me. Plus, it's only $6 with Free shipping. I've ordered from these folks before and they ship quickly.

http://www.igonemobile.com/product.aspx?tab=3&m=613&p=14683

The only downside for some of you may be that it only fits the 8525 facing outward, so if you find yourself running into door knobs or other objects, you could scratch the screen.

lol... some say u get what u pay for and that is right. this merit line case is pretty crappy imo, but hey only 4.99 with free shipping! just a lil accident that happened to me i thought id share for anyone who wants to buy this case. I was walking today to the train (faster than normal so I didn't miss it but not nearly running) and the belt holster i had was swiveled in a horizontal positioning to better secure the phone, when suddenly i don't know how but the clip broke off from my belt (yes physically broke into 2 pieces) and fell to the ground with my phone inside! the case shattered into pieces everywhere the belt clip was completely broken in two pieces and my phone laying on the ground. (mind you im only 5'6" tall and a fall from my belt was probably just a lil under 3 feet) I picked up my phone, only 2 scratches on the back left, top and bottom corners, nothing that bad at all. The case however was gone, I picked up the pieces and through it in the trash. Good thing i bought 2 cases. Now I use the fone with my other case i got in a digi-cam soft case for extra protection in my pocket to avoid future incidents.
Conclusion: my conclusion is that because of the cheap plastic the case and holster uses, caused the phone to come undone. My mom even warned me about paying for such cheap products with my expensive phone, and now i regret not listening to her. The phone is simply too heavy in my opinion to be held from the clip they provide with the phone. If anything id expected their to be cracks dents and scratches on the case, not it exploding into pieces from such a small fall!

Anyway, I do not know how the Box wave case fairs with this case but i regret canceling my order with them and only getting the battery recharger. I was trying to save some money and all i got in return was some scratches on my phone. I am fairly disappointed by the case and not to mention the annoying nub that comes out of it to hook into the holster (annoying to have in your pocket when your not using the holster) and the only way you can get rid of it is by either burning it off or cutting it off, which may leave a hole open in your case. Anyway just my 2 cents about the merit line case. Going to look into buying another case.

I went after the BoxWave Active Case (sold for TyTN, but it came designed for the 8525) with a Dremel tool, which actually worked out really well.

Then I discovered something weird. The front panel of the TyTN is about 1mm thicker than the front panel of the 8525, and the Active Case won't snap on to it.

Grr.

So -- yeah -- the BoxWave Active Case for the 8525 will not work with the TyTN, even if you dremel it. It's too bad -- it really fits my (dead) JasJAM really well, and protects it very well. Hopefully they'll come out with a TyTN specific case soon.

I thought I was the only one :( Yeah, 8525 not only has crowded buttons but also a bit thinner or has slightly more rounded corners.

In regards to the $4.99 meritline case... I had a similar incident.... I was crossing the street with 8525 in the case clipped to my belt when all of a sudden, my phone flew off into the street. The phone had completely detached from the back piece of the case which was still attached to my belt. The battery and cover came flying off as it hit pavement. In the end, the front was protected from scratches, but the back got some minor scratches on the corner. I removed the ratchet part on the back piece and keep it in my pocket now. just bought a holster for $7 shipped on ebay, hopefully I'll have more success with that clipped onto my belt.

I was quite disappointed. I ended up throwing mine away, because I had already cut the front panel open with my dremel (which worked really well; I was surprised). I haven't heard back from BoxWave on if/when there will be a TyTN version, but I'm not counting on it -- without any carrier in the US selling it, there are a ton more 8525's in the US than TyTN's.

(but why did they put a hole in there for the front camera?)

This case is at meritline for $4.99 w/free shipping!

I purchased two and just received them today. The smoke color case is awesome! It matches the color of the device.

Here's the link:

http://www.meritline.com/trans-smoke-cover-for-htc-8525.html

Got my 4.99 case today. Not to bad for the price, but I would not trust it as a hip holster (as some have already found out), so I removed the holster clip from the back of the case. It dose well as a case for the pocket. It does add some bulk, but not as much as the aluminum case. IT DOES NOT FIT WITH THE INVISIBLE SHIELD INSTALLED. So I guess I will wait until the InvisibleShield peals off, before I put it to regular use.

I'm looking to purchase the clear Boxwave Active Case for the 8525 but was wondering if anyone that has purchased this had any problem with the case being prone to lots of scratches. I've had these clear cases on various electronic equipment before and the scratches can really make the device look really crappy. Anyone have any long term reports? Any problems with the smoke version?

Thanks all.

Isn't that sort of the point of putting the case on in the first place?

So the case takes the beating, not the device.

Yes. Very true. I guess I should have been more clear. The problem i have is that with keys and what not in my pocket, some cheapo cases chip and scratch, leaving indentations and sharp corners. It would even catch on threads in my pocket. I've had problems with this with my previous phones like the Treo. I just wanted to get a long term durability review from some people that purchased the boxwave specific brand.

Boxwave seems to be a lot of more expensive than the $5-10 ones selling at ebay and other stores. I'd like some people's take on this particular one.

I just spend about $30 CAD (after shipping) on my case setup.

I bought the Cingular 8525 OEM leather pouch off ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110117531709&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=001

and a clear silicone case also off ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300088413967&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=020

I like to keep the phone as less bulky as possible so I didn't want any plastic or leather case. So i figure I'll leave it in the silicone case (so it doesn't get scratched to dented) at all times and carry it in the leather pouch. A bit more expensive but i think it worth it.

What do you guys think?

I have the Boxwave on my 8525 and I'm very happy with it. I usually keep my phone in my pocket with my car keys.

I have an Invisible Shield screen protector along with the case and the device seems pretty well protected. I've only just notices some slight, barely perceptible scratches on the case, but I can only really see them when I have the case off the device.

My one issue with this case is that dust does seem to build up between the case and the 8525 and I need to remove the case every so often to clean it up a bit.

How did you remove the nub from the back? I know the boxwave case doesnt have one, burn off the sides and remove it? Did it leave an exposing hole in the back. THanks for the info.

Has anyone tried the innopocket metal case?

http://www.innopocket.com/web/showProductDetail.asp?ID=191&name=Metal-Deluxe-Case-for-Dopod-838pro/HTC-TyNT-(Black)&code=DO-0311-B2

I have a metal case now, and as others said, there's a definate degradation of service when in use. Also, it wasn't comfortable to use -- the buttons for some like comm, and side ok button were hard to reach.

The innopocket seems to have fixed that issue. Also noticed there's a few cutout vents up top, i'm assuming for better signal..?

Hello All,

I was curious to know if anyone could suggest a case that would protect the 8525 from bumps. I have looked at otterbox, and that is a bit too bulky. I work in a Juvie type of environment, where fights are always breaking out, so I need a case that would protect my 8525. Any suggestions?

The boxwave active case is the current favourite. The belt clip is apperently a bit dodgy, but other than that, it's the one to go for. Now if only they made one to fit the TyTn... :(

Yes; it does. Just make sure you have the HERM100 model (the Cingular 8525, JasJAM, etc). The Active Case doesn't fit the HERM200 (TyTN) model.

love my Piel Frama... a tad overpriced though.[/QUOTE]

I just got my Piel Frama and I agree, it is great . . . It is Black and Tan. It is amazing how the keyboard still slides with the plastic cover over it . .

I am not sure how it will hold up though and the thumbwheel is pretty much un-usable with the cover on. When I call or answer I take it out of the case but use the case for texting and email, even surfing. They even thought of a hole for the reset button; must be famalier with Micrsoft and it problems . . .

Want to give a hardy endorsement to Boxwave.

I ordered a snap case, color black, with 2nd day shipping for a total cost of 33.00 and change.

When I got it it did not have a belt clip so I called. Spoke with then and guess what? They shipped out a NEW snap case with belt clip using the same shipping as I paid for originally with all the necessary things to ship back the old case.

And come to find out, the snap does should not come with a belt clip but they sent one out anyway.

Excellent company with great service.

BTW, I love the case!

Piel Frama modified. Great case, no problems with clear plastic piece. I removed the crappy plasic button for the clip. I squeezed a little glue into the opening where the button was, presed the outer case to the inner and let it dry overnight. The next day I applied a Rivet fixed button and I'm using it with the Rivel e-clip for the belt. You won't find a more secure setup anywhere. The belt clip has to be physically removed from the belt. It can't and wont fall off.

The Piel is soft like butter but doesn't seem to show scuffs or scratches. Gotta love it! :D

For those looking for a holster case, I bought a nice one at Staples for ~$20, fits perfectly, nice suede cover, soft felt inside, and swivel clip. Made by Just Wireless, they may have them at Walmart, Target, and Best Buy also. The sku for the right size is 12423, its the one for the Blackberry and Treo.

Got my case now. It's great. Definitely recommended. Takes a bit of getting used to 'cause you have to open it each time you need to use the touch screen... but it's well protected and still very functional. Alot better than the case that comes with it. With the clip, I clip it to my sunglasses holder in my SUV when using TomTom so it's at perfect eye level. Very useful.

I've got the one in the picture, same slits at the top and back and I DID get a loss in signal, not as much as the old ones but enough for it not to be able to get a 3G signal in the house. Out of the case I get a 2 bar 3G signal

I recently purchased this leather case from Boxwave (http://www.boxwave.com/products/leathersnapcase/leather-snap-case-cingular-8525_2110.htm):

It fits really great and looks really good. My only complaint is that the on/off button and the stylus is now too far down in there.

For what it's worth I ordered the Meritonline plastic case. I figured for $4.99 and free shipping I'd see if it was adequate before ordering the Boxwave Active Case - I actually wonder if they are the same thing or different in some way. I found the Merit to be very adequate and reasonably good looking. I keep my phone in my pocket and did not install the belt clip attachment. Smoke color is good looking (I think the bare phone still looks better) and it fits pretty solidly. I added a Boxwave screen protector to complete the package (I thought about Invisible Shield but some people complained that they don't like the tactile feel on the writing surface).

Overall I'm happy with it. I'm not sure if the official Active Case is better or the same thing - I'm tempted to order it just to see. The fit is solid, the phone will not drop out even if held upside down and shaken vigorously. That said, changing batteries would be a bit of a pain and I imagine the case would loosen up after a while prying it on and off all the time. The price is unbeatable and for that alone it's probably worth having on one hand just in case.

Hey guys, I just got the shieldzone.com full body HTC 8525 shield. It was a little harder to put on than the edited video on Youtube showed. The package came quickly, and undamaged.

It came with almost NO instructions. It explained how to peel the pieces off, apply the spray, and then place them on the unit... but It took a little effort to figure out where each piece goes on the phone. Don't get me wrong, i'm not retarded, and I got it... and I got it right... but It is a little unsettling, because you feel unsure. Anyways.... after about 25 minutes of fiddling, I got the whole thing on.

It looks fine, from a few feet away, you really can't tell that it is on there. It does however change the finish on the pieces that it is covering.

You should realize that the ENTIRE unit is not completely covered. The buttons are all exposed, The camera in the back, Memory slot, and the bottom side (BLACK PART... silver part is covered).

It adds a slightly rubbery feel. It is not smooth, but not slippery. I thought it was going to be very plasticy, it is actually more like those gel covers for ipods.

The screen is VERY clear, and reflective. It has a tacky feel, I like it, I know others have complained about it, but I do not do enough writing with the stylus to really care one way or the other.

I have only had it on for a short while, but already REALLY like it. I will edit this post if for any reason I change my mind. I will be more than happy to take pictures for you guys... if anyone cares. If not... I won't waste my time or your thread space.

LONG STORY SHORT: WORTH THE MONEY

Okay... I have taken a few pictures of the shield on as tiptoekirk requested... have a look guys.

I hope you can make it out okay, it is CLEAR ... so it only makes sense that it is hard to see.

The pieces on the edges, have these flaps that fold over the side and come to cover the corners. the only issue I had during installation is that some of the flaps will not bend to a straight 90 degree. They had to have some bend, or a crease would form in the plastic.

I think if you look at the images you might be able to get what I mean.

The pictures also give you a good idea of how much of the phone is actually not protected. (buttons, and small seam areas).

After using it for a while, I'm really happy. The tacky feel is a bit odd, but not bad, I am sure I will get used to it.

one thing to mention, be VERY careful when applying the screen protector, I got a small bit of dust on it, and did not notice until it had dried, I now have a very very very very very small spec on the screen. No big deal, but it annoys me (personality issue I guess).

let me know if these were of any help, if not I will take more (if you have a particular angle you'd like to see).

For the record, I tried to use the flash on the camera, but the whole phone lit up like a Christmas tree (the shield is shiny)...

Should I get Boxwave Active Case or Leather Snap Case? both of these cases look excellent. However I would prefer the feel of leather over the feel of plastic. Are there any differences between the cases besides the material they are made of?

Hi bapski,

I hate to say it... but Best Buy. I went there the other day, and they had a bunch of generic holsters that fit the phone... some were slightly too big, so depending on the skin, it would fit just right.

i use a hard case produced for the palm treo 750, it fits perfectly, it doesnt make the hermes too large to put in your pocket, its flat black that opens for your handset to sit inside. It protects it it tenfold from splashes and dropping and is easy to open.

I saw that someone recommended the Apple iPod case for it. I agree. I was using it with my TyTN until I sat on the case and busted the clip.
Now I'm looking for it and it's going for $49 CDN.
Although if anyone wants it, ecost.com is selling it for $0.49. Alas for me they only ship to American addresses =(

It's sleek, fits perfectly! and low key yet elegant and easy to get to the phone.

has anyone done a large compilation of cases for this device? something of a sticky and to have all the reviews of stuff posted on the main one updated etc... i really one 1 or 3 cases...

one that will protect the phone when its in pocket... my concern is the screen if i put anyting else pocket i dont want the screen to get dmged...

2nd one is a vertical holder, i do not care for leather, i just want a super slim one, i have seen other leather ones and they are soo bulky that its not funny.

third case would need one that works with the extended battery?

My quesion is how well do the plastic/silicon ones work as far as taking off and replacing say the battery? do they hold up or will they tear easy?

I am using an ipod sock (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/StoreReentry.wo?productLearnMore=M9720G%2FA) to protect my TyTN. It fits perfectly inside and I can put it on my pocket. IMHO the shipped leather case with magnets bloats the phone too much and I can't put it on my pocket, also I don't like magnets near my device :P

all of those plastic like cases are the same...
also dont be fooled into the "carbon fiber" or "rubber hard case" unless you see a good picture or manufacture all they are are the plastic shells with different colors or texture...

the carbon fiber for example is nothing but painted on... you can see the paint marks inside... the rubber one is the same just with a rubber spray or so... i think this one is more useful... the good news is all the back case for these cases are the same... dont by into hte hype of the boxwave or other shit that charge you 30 bucks for... they are the same the only difference they might have there name stamped its still plastic that snaps in you can see the belt clip on the boxwave and the whole to be exactly the same as all those on ebay for 5 bucks.

I would not trust none of those case on the belt... i only wanted them because of the ability to use the keyboard the screen is not protected but the rest is good for pocket or other storage

im looking into the vertical cases now that have a full or partial covers for the screen and buttons with clear plastic i found out that even though i have a jawbone i still want to know who is calling or glance etc... quickly at a text msg which req only one or 2 buttons and no screen clicks

a clear front case is good.. i believe the body glove might be the best choice and the other one maybe tied is the

the body glove
is more expensive but has a single plastic case i do not know how the buttons might act... in fact i dont need buttons to be covered that might even come off, in which case the napa case might be best choice? The side buttons on the body glove seem to be pretty much inaccessible, as well as no access at the bottom at all. This case does seem to have rapid removal of the phone from case but seems to lack any ability to talk on the phone while in case. The case also seems to be more patted or thicker then a leather case.

napa lather case
The napa one you can clearly see that there is a snap at the top and the sides are exposed for buttons and stylus this can be a good thing and the screen and buttons have there own plastic cover, which means the buttons one can be removed if desired to, also there is access at the bottom for usb I believe. This case will not have rapid access to the phone but is capable to talk with phone in case.

Which one to pick? Anyone have one if not both heh  I have listed some pro/cons of both that I thought about without getting either one.

Hi!
This is very usefull topic you go here, found very nice cases, however I didn't find anyone mentioned any cases that would work with extended batteries (like 3000MAh), the batteries that are so big that require a new battery lid for the phone to cover it. I saw some people asked this question but no responces so far.

Thank you.

Welp, I just placed an order for the Boxwave Armor Case and the shieldzone.com full body shield for the tytn. Too bad boxwave don't have a similar product, their stuff is pretty good, I pampered by old Universal with quite a few accessories from them.

DO NOT get one of the clear plastic cases that snaps on, one part to the front and one to the back. They gradually force the two halves of the phone apart, rendering your screen completely nonfunctional.

The wife and I just ordered 8525s for each of us. I plan to get the Seidio holster with no additional case and the wife wants the Boxwave rubberized shell case (http://www.boxwave.com/products/rubberizedslimcase/cingular-8525-rubberized-slim-case_2110.htm). Oh we'll definitely get the boxwave anti-glare screen protectors as well.

Any opinions on the boxwave rubber case? I don't think anyone mentioned it in this thread.

I used to have a 2 piece snap on case for my 8525. It lasted about 3 months before the thin plastic tabs holding the case to the phone wore down and the case came crashing onto the concrete below. I also find it troubling that there is no protection for the camera lens that protrudes from the back of the phone. As well as the lump on the back where you can screw on the optional clip. Without it you are left with a square hole and an uneven surface that lends to your phone sliding off a table. I have also tried an aluminum armor case. Protection is amazing, call quality is horrendous with the case on. I did not notice a drop in signal quality. My Boxwave case does have top cutouts which may be allowing more RF signal in. In my opinion, currently there are no real good case solutions available for the 8525/Hermes. Every solution I have tried and seen seems to come with some serious flaws.

Update on our cases from boxwave. The cases are plastic, not rubber-like at all. The black case looks fine, but I got 2 silvers that were painted unevenly and were scratched. The optional belt clip is not very sturdy, which is fine for my wife (purse), but not for me. I'm returning mine and will get a Seido holster and see how that goes.

I've purchased the plastic snap on case...the Krussel Orbit, the Aluminum Case, the spring clip holster and the Krussel Dynamic...

I liked the aluminum case for the protection but didn't like the phone signal. I liked the spring clip holster because of the easy access but I was afraid I was going to drop the phone...

Right now I am using the Krussel Dynamic and have been very happy with the protection and the easy access to the phone... I use www.cases.com because of the selection, prices and the customer service is top notch. My orbit's clip broke a couple of days after purchase and they sent me a new case (no questions asked) within a day..

I still haven't found the "perfect" case...but I'll keep looking.

My Wife got me a Hermes for Christmas and it looked so cool with the gun metal gray and chrome I didnt want to use it. She mocked me. ;-) She got a Blackberry 7100 so consider the source... (Its what she wanted)

Anyway, I tried the "rubberized" two piece and it worked -ok-. Ordered a "aircraft aluminum" hard case. The type that has a plastic screen cover and hinge. Loved it. Finally some protection for my new baby. The only thing is the aluminum case severely attenuates my signal. We live in the country so signal level is very important.

Question- Has anyone seen a hinged type hard case similar in design to the aluminum that is clear or colored plastic? At least for me that would be perfect. Sure it would bulk up the Hermes but I would not need a holster.

I'll be selling my wifes MDA if anyone is interested. That INCLUDES the pink holster.

I had the Seidio holster for about 3 months, after the 5th time the case let my phone pop out and onto the concrete I got pissed and ripped the clip off. It was a nice clip, but needed a stronger peice on top to hold it and wasn't worth the money. I'm down to the Clear plastic case that clips on and just keeping it in my pocket (which I hate, but what are you going to do).

I had one. No issues but I only used it for a month or so - never really heard this before. Thought it made the phone ugly. I pocket the phone with no case and only a screen protector now. If going to be very active I have a leather padded case.

Krussel FTW +1

Only one tiny drawback with that case, it's hard to use the stylus right up in the corners. But the screen cover flips down so dang easy it doesn't seem to be a "real problem"
