When it trys to connect push cancel and it will ask if you want to select another service. Click yes and choose "The Internet." If that doesn't work try different ones, depending on how you have your phone set-up.
Sorry buddy but google local doesn't go well with this phone. When I use google local it works but after about 2 minutes the program freezes. This started happenning when I updated to Google Local 1.24 or something like that. Anyone know where I can get the old version of Google Local? Does anyone have a fix for this?

this was posted over at Hofo:
map4pda.com
works very well. Has google and MS maps, plus traffic overlays. It tries to collect your phone number teh first time you run it, but I gave it a bogus # and it worked fine.

That sucks, google local is awesome. Do you use the smart phone version or the pda version?

Try ViaVirtualEarth. http://www.viavirtualearth.com/vve/Gallery/VEMobile.ashx
Yes, it is an MS service, but it does work pretty well!

I agree VirtualEarth works pretty well....
Google Local works pretty ... well, not well. Locks up wiith me also on all the phones I've set it up on.
I'll check out the map4pda.com, thanks!
Would love to find some kind of real time traffic app for this device! 5 hours commuting to get in and out of Miami sucks! (3,000 miles a month BLOWS!)

I've used both, and I must say google local owns all of them in my opinion. I just wish it worked for our phones. Is there any way to put a request through to get it?

I tried Map4PDA. It is a nice applicaton, but after a while of normal usage, such as browsing the maps, loading the satellite maps, it eats up nearly all the memory, just frozen. I tried couple of times, it seems that it always stuck with the less memory. Not sure how does it handle the memory, through .Net Mobile? I am using T-Mobile MDA, and I can see that the memory is full pretty quick, only 1M left, then the device hangs on Map4PDA.
Anyone has the similar experience?
