HOW DO YOU DO THAT ON THE VODA VERSION?.

Don't forget that the notation may differ from provider to provider. It may very well be that 1.18 is HTC's own specific notation for the HERM200 devices.

Just finished flashing...
ROM version: 1.18.255.3
ROM date: 07/22/06
Radio version: 1.03.10
Protocol version 32.34.7010.01H
Seems like the date is the only different thing so far.
Gonna see what the ext rom has next.
On a side note, the device seems a bit faster and more responsive, then after last hard reset (yesterday). Might be my imagination thou.

Flashing a "new" firmware without having the Release Notes document at the same time means running a risk for something or nothing (not to say it is stupid, except you try it out on an experimental device).
Who would give up his flat and move to a "new" one, not knowing in advance if it is really new or better than the existing one ?
Ok, I also did not have a Release Note document for my Qtek 9000 when I flashed it.
But at least I had the (confirmed) info that it include the AKU2 upgrade = Push Mail, IE upgraded etc.
I also admit that I wouldn't even be able to use your ROM, as I'd need a German one.
But even if it be the suitable localization I'd refrain from using it for the above reasons.
And I'd strongly recommend it to all here except those who have a TyTN just for experimenting or are very experienced in modding.

Can you restore your SPB Backup after doing the ROM upgrade or do you have to reinstall everything again and re-setup all your settings again? I know the best thing to do is to re-install everything, I just want to know if anyone has tried this yet and if there was any problems.
Thanks,

The note that comes with the upgrade advices NOT to use any 3rd party backup prgm, as those will reinstall old firmware parts. They just ask you to activesync your data and to install all prgms from scratch using the original installers.
I believe it would not be a great idea to put old registry settings back on the new firmware.

But I'm afraid you will not be able to access the support download part as they ask you to register with an IMEI of an officialy imported product in The Netherlands.
Although I live in Belgium I bought my TyTN in Holland, 2% cheaper because of tax differences and at that time it was not available in my country.

Put the device in bootloader mode, flash using the RUU, if you get vendorID error do not disconnect the device from the USB cable and don't touch the device, just run the RUU again, it should work this time.

I updated my Rom this morning.
I do not get wifi connection to internet.
I get an ip address from my router and i can ping my pda.
When i start my browser and type an url, the only thing the tytn says is:
"Locating..." then nothing.
My laptop works great through the draytek router.
Soft reset doesn't help.
Any ideas ?

I have a v1605 that did have the Vodafone rom on it (HTC628)
I updated last night and it seems as though the problems with screen alignment have gone. On this unit if I was using Opera a tap and hold could be anywhere on the screen for 3 taps every 10 minutes or so. I have not had need to realign the screen in 13 hours of fairly full use.
HSDPA works now :) which was the major factor fo me in wishing to update and using the vodafone extended rom will give 3G instead of U symbols in the titlebar and the connection settings.
Rom is much faster than the Vodafone one even though I am using the VF extended rom
Installed programs running fine are:
SPB Weather
SPB Backup
Opera 8.6
Windows Live Messenger Beta
Tweaks2k
JasJar Bluetooth Icon
Wireless Toaday Plugin
Hope this is of some help for those who were unsure that it would be of advantage to them

And the rom feels faster then the previous dated one. But

To everyone with a carrier branded device:
Just because your ROM versions are higher DOES NOT mean they are newer.
You do not know how the vendors have tinkered with the ROM and then re-numbered it.

I just ran the update and when the invalid device warning came up I ran it again. Do not disconnect the device from the computer before running it a second time!
Once the update was complete, I didn't let the extended rom run and then unlocked the extended rom. Why has not HTC notified us directly of the available ROM update?
How will HTC notify us TyTn owners of ROM updates?
The Dutch HTC site (http://www.qtek.nl/) provides owners of an Official Dutch Import TyTN forum and download support.
This is because the site is actually not run by HTC but by Dangaard Telecom, the official HTC distributor in the Netherlands.
Access to this site is limited to Qtek and HTC devices that are officially distributed through their Dangaard channels.
Therefore it is not HTC who sent around the announcement of the upgrade but Dangaard Telecom. Again logical, because to gain access one registers with Dangaard, not with HTC, and through the IMEI number that is registered with Dangaard.
Parallel imports and non-Dutch users cannot access this site, since it is limited to devices that came though Dangaard Telecom.

I have been running this rom for 3 days now, and I think the speed is much faster.
Programs running SPB Weather, SPB Pocketplus both work fine.
The A2DP work fine with my Sony Ericsson DS970.
The only problems i have is syncing my songs with Media player to the storage card, but I can just open my playlists and then I can listen to the songs, the other problem is not with the phone its the 3G network, it switches from 3g to GSM all the time.

For those that have updated their Vodafone v1605s - if you set your 121 voicemail to deliver text notification - does this now work? Was not working on the shipped ROM.
Cheers - Rich
I use 242. It's always seemed more reliable and worked perfectly on all 3 v1605's that I've had!

Does anyone know if the blueTooth routines have changed as I have lots of problems with my BT handsfree set in my car? The note only mentions overall GSM, GPRS and UMTS quality.

I'm flashing mine, hopefully the BT issues with my Audi BT carkit are now solved. Will test this evening if they changed anything with regards to BT.
Doesn't change a thing, still the same problem as before

installed this rom last night -- including the external rom features. it seems much more primitive compared to the dopod rom. on the plus side, it seems a little bit snappier (maybe less baggage?) but is missing things like the network wizard (useful for shifting between different providers while travelling). Maybe it's my imagination, but the screen clarity seems better with the dopod rom too. So, I re-installed the dopod rom (CHT9000).

Hi !
I have upgraded my TyTN from the French ROM 1.18.256.103.
Now the device is faster and WiFi is much more stable. I had trouble to switch the keyboard from qwerty to azerty, but now it's settled.
I will try monday my Audi BT Car Kit, which wasn't worrking at all with the original French ROM.
All the menues are still in English but that's not a real problem. For my information how can I switch the menues to French (will I need to put the French ExtROM back) ?
Thanks to Wiz for the uploaded ROM.

No, you can't switch the OS to fench again. If you want it in french you'll have to wait until some rom upgrade comes out... at the moment there are only english versions.

I installed this upgrade on my HTC branded TyTN. All went OK during the install. The installer says it will take 25 minutes, and my install DID take the full 25 minutes.
otherwise I have seen no changes yet (other than the warm-fuzzy feeling of having the latest ROM installed)

HSDPA works now :) which was the major factor fo me in wishing to update and using the vodafone extended rom will give 3G instead of U symbols in the titlebar and the connection settings.
Hi Phil,
how would you know that HSDPA is working now ?
I assume by the downlink rates you experience, aren't you ?
What rates did you see just with UMTS, what rates now with HSDPA (obviously) working ?
I guess they replaced U by 3G because 3G is the more general term comprising both UMTS and HSDPA.
Obviously in this firmware upgrade still no sign of a dedicated HSDPA icon to show that you are on HSDPA, or am I mistaken ?
Phil, could you pls scan your registry for keys or values containing the strings 3G, UMTS or HSDPA and send or post it here ?
Thx.

Look out, with the Dutch ROM there is no garantee of Htc. Int. My topic was taken away? How is this possible?

Htc didn't say they forbid Dangaard to distribute the phones. They didn't support the updated extended Rom (104), and they had a problem with the dutch HTc site. I phoned Dangaard, and i am waiting for their responce.

Slut :)
I simply use the registry tweak from the Wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry) :
Modification to keyboard hack. The above solution does not work for the Hermes the following new settings are required.
Goto the following registry entry : [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
There is a key called 'Layout' and it is in Decimal.
The default for the last JasJam ROM is 2040A (hex) and I replaced it with 2040C (hex) i.e. replace 132106 (dec) with 132108 (dec) (40C is the code for the azerty French keyboard).
Have fun,

Hi Thierry,
I bought it in France using www.materiel.net. The original ROM version was FRA 1.18.256.2, but I had a lot of problems using WiFi and Bluetooth.
So, I used the JasJam (iMate) ROM update which is working correctly both with Bluetooth and WiFi. The only problem is : this ROM is an english one, so you need to tweak your registry to switch from qwerty to azerty.
Bon courage,
Arnaud.

Hey people, ive emailed HTC support and got this reply (bear in mind im enquiring about an official HTC English ROM update)
Hi (REMOVED),
Thank you for your email.
As yet we have received no indication from HQ in Taiwan as to when an improved and updated ROM will be released. We chase them on almost a daily basis, but sadly as yet they have not been forthcoming with any information other than "it is on its way".
I realise that this answer is neither here nor there, but at the moment this is all we have!
We fully expect our new ROM build to address may of the technical bugs our "1.0" build has.
Keep you eye on both out HTCEurope.com website, and our main HTC.com website for updates.
Yours sincerely

For UK Voda v1605, which rom did you use? The Dopod or Imate?
Once the update was complete, I didn't let the extended rom run and then unlocked the extended rom. I then coppied it to my card and copied the vodafone extended rom to the device and hard reset again. It made the device exactly how I wanted it and I'm very hapy now! 40+ hours without any issues at all!
Phil
Correct me if i am wrong, the Dopod does not come with the extended rom which means i need to download the Vodafone 1650 VPA Compact III (UK) Extended rom, but how exactly do i install the Extended Rom after the update is completed. What happens after the update is completed?

The first tweak you are using is not the Hermes one.
You should use the second one (in the WiKi (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry)) :
Goto the following registry entry : [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
There is a key called 'Layout' and it is in Decimal.

Then Reboot.
It works fine with my TyTN.

does anybody knows if O2 English ROM exist?
Couldn't find it on Wiki...
If it's not on the wiki, we don't have it.

It would probably help if the links were made a sticky post. It would also help if 10,000 people wouldn't pollute the topics with the same questions.
Now it takes for ever to read through some of the threads when they get to many post in them.
POF, Thank you for your patience and your contributions as I know yours and many others post here have saved my a$$ many times.
I will read more than post. Some of the others sould do the same.
Just a thought

Hi @all!
i have the xda trion (Hermes) with german o2 rom.
i updated some days ago the official rom update from my privider.
After the rom update i have some big problems.
First i can not surf over the wlan. the wlan has no problem, but the browser, tried with ie und opera mobile, not find any pages. after 1 minutes one error is shown that the requestet page can not be reached.
my second big problems is that the navigation software tomtom 5.21 will not start. the installation is well but if i wand start tomtom i see the tomtom icon. after some seconds tomtom stops automatic.
i already not have any idea what can be the reason. i already installed the upate already four time but nothing change.
i would to downgrade the xda rom, but don't know where get the older rom update. the newest official rom version is O2_1.25.207.
maybe one can give me hint how i can solve my problems.

Hi all,
Here's my device
ROM version: 1.18.255.3
ROM date: 07/22/06
Radio version: 1.03.10
Protocol version 32.34.7010.01H
Question 1: Is there an update this this ROM or this is the latest still?
Question 2: I sync my contacts to my TyTN and noticed that it's missing some fields (ie. Other Number); I tried a few other ROM's already, Other Number doesn't seem to exist for contacts neither. Will the new ROM have it or they'll never come out with it or I can customize it from somewhere or by some software??
Thank you!
Ben

Rom Update test...
I flashed with the last (HTC 1.35) Rom available (on HTC TyTn with I-Mate 1.20), AFTER Pof Supercid installation., everything OK
Then I've restored my SPB backup now this is my system INFO:
ROM version 1.20.305.3
ROM date 11/14/06
Radio version 1.18.00.10
Protocol Version 32.55.7018.01H
ExtROM Version 1.20.305-104 (I had HTC EXT_ROM so this is clearly wrong)
On boot I see 1.35 and HTC splash screen :)
Everythings works', yes, I had to pair again all bluetooth device, but I've installed TOM TOM 6 on 1.35 and it freezes every couple of selections, no way to pair the Sirfstar 20 ch solar-charge GPS device.
I know now I have a strange device but seems faster than before and works!
This isn't ICT, this is Science, do you agree doctor Frankenstein? :)

It is a big mistake restoring a backup from your old ROM on top of your new ROM. You're bound to have incompatible drivers and unpredictable results. I strongly encourage you to consider a hard reset and a manual rebuild from scratch...
Just trying to save you a lot of long-term aggravation!

Learning is from unpredictable, also most of the lessons and surprise I had were from "unpredictable", conditions or people! :)
IMO TyTn-Hermes is one of the most "unstable" HTC phone I ever seen( even 1.35 SA Test ROM), it hangs instead of playing reminders, drain the battery, sometime I have 1065Kb/sec, sometime I can't connect (same place, same config and Isn't network problem). I remember the K-Jam at first ROM release, same problems, we really need something 2.0.
If I can't use it for serious business... (and you can't with a phone working only 90% of the day, you need for business something working more than 99% without hangs) it is a great device to play with!

All,
I have flashed to this ROM and have noticed that when I receive an incoming call the caller id font is a lot smaller then the font used in my previous T-Mobile UK rom. Does anyone know how to increase the font size?
Thanks

hi,
i have made an upgrade also for my HTC TyTN now but it screwed up my keyboard. It has (physically) swedish letters on it but as it was an English piece I upgraded it with English version and now it is f***ing difficult tu type SMSes :)
I think I will need and Swedish version :) Do you know if there is any Swedish version in English? Or maybe I can change the keyboard settings and keep the rest?

This is SOOOOO old, Check the date of the first post. There are HMEAPS more cooked roms to choose from going into WM6.1 now.
roghank, check the windows 6 forum to see whats latest. ;)
Also, as you are new, Hard SPL your phone. Read this -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
It'll save you some MAJOR hassles if the flash goes wrong... You might even get it working again unlike the expensive paper weight you'll have without it...
You might also like to simunlock your phone if it isn't already, DO THIS BEFORE HARD SPL... Here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
Please take some time to read a little bit so you can avoid the pitfalls that you most assuredly will eventually hit while upgrading...:p
Welcome and Happy Flashing...:D
