View Full Version : Agile Messenger locks up?

I'm using Agile Messenger 3 Beta and although it's a full-function product, it locks up my Wizard either when it's asleep or when it wakes up (it never wakes up, but the LEDs still flash).
It might be in conjunction with having it overclocked to 240Mhz, but it's really useless when you have to have to reset your device after using your IM.

I'm experiencing the same issue without overclocking, so it appears to be Agile-specific. I've had this happen with a few different ROMs, as well, so I think it's entirely an Agile problem. I don't recall the functionality differences between the Beta and Alpha versions, but I'm going to try a downgrade to Alpha as I don't recall ever having this problem before I upgraded to Summitter's AKU2.3 ROM (which would be about the time I switched to the new Agile messenger). This is a horrifically annoying problem, as I have to check my phone ever few minutes to check whether it's really sleeping or has slipped into another Agile-induced coma.
If anyone has found any workaround for this problem, please feel free to share. I'll post back after I work with the Alpha version for a day or two.

Agile is buggy, period. Unless you have the source code and a good working knowledge of C++, the workaround is to get rid of Agile and use something else. Imov is available for free, last I looked, and there's the included MSN app, that old AIM app and, if you believe that you get what you pay for, there's IM+ and Verichat, one which many people swear by.

Yeah I used to get an error message with the older O2 ROM, at least the device never locked up. But after upgrading to the newer ROM it was a different story, device used to lock-up with only the LED light blinking. Had to hard reset once a day. It is a good prog though except for this irritating problem. IMOV uses Jabber servers and doesn't always connect to Yahoo! If anybody has any solution would love to hear.... :(

Well I've been using the Alpha version for a few days and the phone hasn't locked up once. Definitely a problem with the Beta version...
If anyone else experienced my pain, you can still download the Alpha version at their web site. To be honest I haven't even noticed any feature differences or bugs that would bother me, except that it takes freezes momentarily when GPRS is suspended for phone calls. If you can deal with the 5-10 second freeze after phone calls, it's a good switch. Otherwise, get used to your phone coma or ditch Agile altogether.
