Just flashed the i-mate rom.
Seems to work fine.

Gonna play with ext rom stuff a bit later.
Just noticed that the default font seems a bit smaller then usual (normally I need to make it a bit smaller myself)

Now Ill test if its really Spb Pocket plus that makes opening of windows folder take forever. At this point (nothing installed) it opens before "the wheel" has gone even halfway around

Hmm, installed SPB pocket plus.
Before entering windows folder took about 1/4 turns of "the wheel", now
it takes 2/4. Gotta keep an eye on it. Seems like a lot of files slow it down a lot. :(

if they are upgrades, do they fix the battery meter only going in 10% increments? Can you now see the E (for EDGE) icon like on the Wizrad? Does it fix the issue where the roaming icon is always on?

Is anyone else having their Hermes switch on when going from GSM to UMTS using the latest i-Mate ROM? I've tried it with the extended ROM loaded, without it loaded and it behaves the same way both ways. I'm actually going to the Dopod WWE ROM to avoid this behavior so if anyone has an idea, it would be greatly appreciated.

The Dopod rom still has the issue with using WiFi and Bluetooth simultaneously. Listening to Resco Radio via WiFi on a Motorola Bluetooth stereo headset still does not work properly.

Anyone tested this on the i-mate rom yet?

'upgraded' from the CHT9000 ROM, initial comments:

* added TTY option to phone (maybe a UK hearing impaired user requirement?);
* voice speed dial replaces voice command;
* screen noticebly more sensitive (numeric pad now interprets my password on the first try, everytime).
* 3G downloading speed seems much faster -- maybe my service provider's tweak?

> battery meter is the same (changes still shown in 10% increments);
> comm manager button does not switch ringer to vibrate;

As before:
* BT works fine when connected to HBH-DS970's or for Activesync;
* When activated, WiFi connection still takes priority over GPRS/3G;
* same camera version 4.0 (build 23966)
* same 'blue' comm manager

Only tweak applied is qwerty remapping from English to Chinese keyboard.

Yes I agree Imate is the best of all of them, I spoke to HTC support today and they siad a new ROM is suppose to be coming out by the end of the month so we have to wait and see.

Just close the flash screen and restart the update. I have the HTC TyTN and the same happened to me and it worked.

looks like if you are using the old AT&T towers, then you get the roaming icon. if you are in a place which has always been Cingular, then no roaming icon.

The progress bar was basically 99% complete during the customization phase and it said it was installing "Default_TodayPlugin.CAB". So I had to soft-reset to get past this.

However I unlocked the Extended_ROM using the fit4cat tool and noticed there was quite a few CABS in the i-Mate Extended ROM that hadn't/didn't install on my TyTN. There are things like "Default_i-mate_Pool.CAB" (game) and other stuff. When I try to install them, it says my IMEI number is not in the correct range (i.e., that of a JASJAM) so it doesn't install. I tried to install the "Default_TodayPlugin.CAB" file that the customization was "stuck" on and it is also IMEI restricted, so that explained why I was hung on that one.

So just a note to those out there using the ROM that it has stuff in Extended_ROM that won't install on a non-JASJAM device.

May be some of us were not as honest as Sportwa72. When I got stuck, I just did a soft reset and everything seemed fine. I also did it the second time and the same thing happened. I do not seem to be missing anything as everything works.

Yep, same happened to me and I also just did SR. It appears that i-mate guys decided to leave some of the goodies for their customers only. I wonder what are we missing.

Due to the customization "lock-up" you get while installing the "Default_TodayPlugin.CAB" there are a few things that normally CAN install (not IMEI locked) but don't (since they install after that CAB) which are:


Default_i-mateSuite_PPC.CAB
Default_XMSCab-0409_JSJM_ENG.CAB


The "XMSCab" file installs an extension to SMS messaging that allows you to compose XMS-based "SMS" messages that can include things like handwriting, animated emoticons, etc. But I'm guessing you have to have an XMS-based client installed on your phone to receive them as well (i.e., another JASJAM or TyTN with this CAB (XMS) installed).

My bad, i'm doing a restore using sprite, but I didn't think it was supposed back up anything in rom. I reflashed my device just to be sure and it showed the 1.20.305.3 rom, then after restoring again I'm back to 1.18 (in the device info screen). Still shows 1.20 on the boot screen.

DO NOT apply a backup from an old ROM on top of a new one. You will see (at best) unpredictable results, and at worst, you may really mess something up.

If you're going to flash the ROM, be prepared to reinstall everything all over again (programs, unlock codes, configurations, etc).

That's the price you pay for always playing with the latest and greatest...

Although periodically I used to see the roaming triangle with my SX-66, I have not seen it at all with my TyTN. This is definitely a location-related issue...

At least with my Cingular 3G SIM card, I am unable to select GSM providers manually (or choose "preferred networks" as I used to be able to do). Fortunately, I'm very happy to be "locked" into the Cingular UMTS network... ;-)

I am testing, before I had the last HTC.
Questions for i-mate rom users..

1) Were are the MMS?
with HTC I had the MMS menu in my Messaging menu and now there isn't..
Any suggestion?

2) I am in Italy and TIM is the provider. When the phone is off if someone calls i have a message "you received a call, presso ok to continue" WIth my K-jam pressing ok I will see the caller's number and the menu option to call .
Now pressing oK I have..... nothing, both with I-Mate and with HTC

My comments.... no big differences, I will see if the radio is a REAL improvement here in Italy with TIM, the HTC dialpad skin is much better, in the I-Mate version the numbers are too close to the edge and the effect is really poor

MMS "disappeared" in HTC->I-mate ROM Upgrade

Self Solved.
I have seen after installation of the MMS package from I-mate EXT_Rom and soft resetting the phone, the MMS client "disappear"

I used the MMS CAB coming from HTC (Qtek) EXT_Rom and now is working.
May be IMEI check in I-mate appz is not only for games....

My HTC Hermes serial number is 625XX and I have successfully eliminated my Screen Misalignment problem by upgrading to the latest Dopod 838 Pro ROM
I have been using it excessively for the last three days and never had to realign the screen
For people who got stuck on ScreennMisalignment please try to upgrade your ROM
There are several ROMS available that you migh choose to flash into your Hermes. Who knows that "Trial And Error" fix your Screen Misalignment problem

I tried the 1.23.4 ROM but it happened to me again... Then I loaded my apps on storage card... and 6th day now..have NOT yet happened again..

I even tried to blow some hot hair dryer to simulate heat :twisted: ... no issue...

I afraid this will just appear suddenly someday... :(

Guys sorry for being late giving you update. Yes, sectorlord You Were Rite. It was just temporarily GONE but after 3 weeks it started again. I am flashing my ROM to I-Mate JASJAM now and see if it works like before.
I am afraid this issue occurs because of incompatibility of 3rd party software such as Hacked O2 Plus and Opera Browser.
However, when you soft reset the device it goes back to normal no misalignment. Furthermore, when you do hard reset, everthing looks perfect until you start to install several applications and use it for couple days or maybe several weeks like my case

Guess we are just unlucky people. Getting a replacement is the best way. Too bad I didn't have time to send my unit back.

Hi

I decided to try to install the i-mate 1.20.305.3 1.04 which member mrvanx recommended in a previous post.

mrvanx is right. This version is quicker than any of HTC versions. Even the notification LED 2 which didn't change the color to amber when receiving a SMS in the HTC versions, now it's changing the color to amber.

TCPMP works better and all the others softwares work quickly; e.g. the Windows directory is quicker to open and also navigating in several menus of settings.

The only problem I had, it was that the installation of the extended rom didn't finish (suddenly it stops) and as a result the MMS settings configuration didn't appear. By recovering the data I previously made using the Spb backup, I could also recover the MMS configuration.

To install completely a Tytn is a job much time consuming; so, I got no time to try the 1.20.305.2 1.06. If somebody do that please tell us the result.

I hope this help somebody to decide which version is better.
