:) I was just looking at the screenshot - January 2006! Sheesh. I haven't programmed anything specific for VJSihaya since then - reason being, when I had the idea way back when, I knew what I wanted it to do, but knew what I had to go away and learn LOTS of new stuff.

I've been tinkering with different ideas, bits and bobs, so that I can eventually throw them together to make it as complete as I want it to be.

Like I've said elsewhere, stuff like VJVolubilis is just R&D, that I've released stand alone, but I like the idea of VJSihaya. However, HTC really need to get more VGA screens out. I'm thinking of going to TyTN, and at QVGA VJSihaya isn't as beautiful :(

I think that is WisBar Advance he is using. It is not free though.

Yep thats Wisbar Advance I'm using along with a windows vista theme. The picture dialer is the one ripped off from the Treo 700W and was designed for QVGA and square screens thats why it looks so small on the Universal's VGA screen but it still works great :)

A couple of questions:

Does it not totally destroy your eyes trying to read the text on true VGA mode?

I used WisBar Advance once when I had my alpine - it made it so there was no ring when an incoming call happened, are there any problems with using it on a phone now? If not, do you know why not? Is it the new device or a newer version of the WisBar software?

Anjow - to answer your question.

Yes the text is small in VGA mode - in Word set your font size to 7 point font size (perhaps 6 - hard to tell) and you'll get an idea of how big the text is.

I find it perfectly readable and LOVE the extra space it gives me, browsing the internet actually becomes worthwhile as well!

VJBigPhone makes the phone work properly on VGA (Thanks again!!!) - my only problem is that Solitaire still thinks it's using 320x240 and is too small!!!

It depends upon personal preference and what you intend to use the device for.

I believe Opera's website rendering is VGA, even in QVGA mode, so what you see in Opera in QVGA mode is the same as what you'd see in Opera in VGA mode, and from that you can probably extrapolate what everything else looks like. If you're comfortable reading with that size text (and you can always increase the font size) then you'll probably be fine with True VGA. the content in opera is rendering in VGA, not pixel doubled QVGA, so it's basically no different to true VGA, just only for opera.

I've been using it, and have no problem at all. It's a little on the small side, but nowhere near unreadable, and the amount of extra information and text you can get on the screen is quite worthwhile - I couldn't go back, everything looks like it's under a magnifying glass in QVGA ;)

What about selection accuracy? Will I have to be a marksman with my stylus? To be honest I find it awkward hitting the right spot even now sometimes, I'm 20 and it is making me feel 60 :P

I've not had any problems at all with the stylus, with or without my glasses on.

I do tend to use the keyboard a lot, but I always have prefered the keyboard to a mouse.

I use a program that simulates a cursor, it is free too, called Fake Cursor. You have to place this file at the windows folder and run it there. Perform a soft reset afterwards. Assign it to a hardware button for ease of use. Here it is:

I didn't do anything special to get Calendar and Contacts on my tray. I updated the 1.30.115 T-Mobile ROM and it had these shortcuts on the screen.

You can give this version i.e. 1.30.115 a try and get these shortcuts.

Yeah it's part of Wisbar Advance. The top bar shows battery and the bar below shows avaliable ram. If you click on the icon a pop up shows up with avaliable batt, ram, storage, storage card and other misc things I'm forgetting about.

My setup is Marsware WeatherPanel with Stardock Animated theme,
Egress Today Plugin,
iLauncher with One-By-One icons from the SBSH forum(including the option to show a tab in the tray/taskbar area).
PocketBreeze with Expea2 Theme
Wisbar Advance with Expea2 theme and custom Start button.

I use the beautiful skin suite "SciFi" from the really cool skin designer Juni http://www.juniskins.com/

On my Today screenshot you can see:

-Juni SciFi Extended Theme
-SPB Pocket Plus skinned whit SciFi
-TodayAgenda Plug In
-PocketMax Phone Alarm (for this app I create an original skin whit some elements from other Juni's SciFi Skin)
-PqZII (I made a small icon "Alt CTRL" that you can see on the top bar)

For some icons on SPB PocketPlus, I simply edit some PNG's located at "\program file\PocketPlus\Icons"

About counters, in order: Battery, Memory, SD Card, Light, Storage, Rom (unlocked).

Also SPB Weather are skinned whit a Juni's skin.

My current desktop, I like it a lot, all from one screen...
Now that I am using the 5.2Beta of PocketBreeze, I also have my contacts included... (with images if you like...).
I do not use FullVGA (like OzVGA or such); the skins are VGA and with ClearType fonts the screen is very readible... if you need more info look at the linked thread below.
Only thing is that I have just enough RAM to run my apps.. TomTom still runs, so I am good... Any ideas on how to get my RAM upgraded?

I hate my dialpad... looking for a nice way to skin it... everything I tried does not work...

mate ive been running your skins for the last few days,nosucking up but just the truth,they are the best
reasons why
they are clear and easy to read
the set up and layout run easily( i like the close button)
look amazing and as if thats how wm5 should be form new
no slowing of the system or issues
overall ten out of ten ,not that my ratings mean jack but,maybe itll inspire more people to give em a whirl

Hey Corleno pal. I am a big fan of your skins. And also I am very happy that you post your skins on deviantart.com. Many of my friends upload their art to that website. Are you still selling those mettalurga and challenga skins? I would really love to use those skins on my Universal. So far I have tried out your Vista WB2 1.5 and Vista Metal 1.5 on Wisbar Advance. So far I liked them a lot but I noticed that it eats a lot of memory, (i have SPB Time installed maybe thats why) memory used to be 25-28MB free with Helmi's AKU 3.5. Now with SPB Time + Wisbar Advance + Vista Metal it fell down to 15MB. I managed to free 6MB by installing Wisbar Advance Desktop. So right now I have 20-21MB free and the device runs stable. I am very happy with 20MB free mem. Also I saw in a lot of reviews that Wisbar Advance + Desktop are highly suggested applications for best skins etc on the universal. Do you have anything else to suggest? Also can you make Wisbar Advance desktop theme's too? I couldnt find much on lakeridge forums. Please suggest me some good stuff to make my Universal look the best. I will paste screenshots here soon or message me as I would like to buy those challenga and metalurga skins. Are you making any new skins soon? Anyways message me XD

For the Ivan AKU 3.5 the 'standard' dialpad skins did not work, so I decided to make my own, re-using the existing PNG and GIF files in the \windows directory. It may not be the most elegant way, but it looks quite nice and fits perfectly with the XSync skin (by Bob_55). -> see previous posts.
