I have the VF ROM which doesn't include MSN by default. I've managed to get the current version installed without having to pay (after all, why should I??) and can use it fine, but was wondering if it's worth taking it off to put this new version on?

It works fine on my Wizard, haven't tried on the Universal yet, it displays avatars, smileys, and links your messenger contacts into your address book. And it has the Windows Live Mobile apps too.

Other than that, it's just another app for messenger use, purely a personal choice.

Installed and works great, apart from it trying to connect to GPRS even when already connected via wifi. It doesn't display smilies either, at least for me. Apart from that, it's finally a version of MSN that doesn't look about 10years out of date!

For all you ppl that do have it, be careful not to screw your contactlist. WLMM puts all your buddies in the contacts on your phone!

So i saw all these contacts in my contacts... (still following? :P) and started deleting them. What happens is this... if you delete one from your contacts (the one on your phone) the contact is automaticaly -without notification- deleted from your MSN contact list! I found this out half way there...

logical.. I think contacts are integrated together just like in Outlook - but in Outlook you can turn off this (it shows wether a contact in outlook is online or offline in msn)..

by the way, I didn't catch that 'favourite contact' menu in WLMM, and this synchronise.. what does it do????

WL Messenger (beta) only works on WM5 devices. It will NOT work on WM2003.

Keep in mind, it's still a beta, and as a result, has bugs. The next release will be much more refined than this release.

My suggestion is to wait until the next revision, which will probably be released for testing pretty soon.

It will correct MANY MANY problems that are in the current beta.

The current beta is a nice work in progress, but I don't suggest using it as your everyday Messenger. Too many problems.

I use it everyday, and have done for about 3 weeks on a Wisard, and my Universal, and it seems fine.

Smileys don't seem to show on the Universal, but other than that, seems stable, and fine to me.

This works really good! ive bin testing it for 2 weeks now and i can say that there are a lot of improvements.

including:
connection recovery
send and receive files.
1 adress book (msn) synched with phone.
better UI

a funny thing is that the nudge of msn works....it makes your phone vibrate. but you can turn that off.


note.
-Requirement is windows mobile 5.
-The program will set all of your contacts from msn and adresbook of your msn adres (or hotmail) to your phone. but the program also synchs the msn picture to your phonecontacts.

Installed it :D ....it's a big improvement in respect to previows version, would be nice as well to have animoticon, and about the file transfer option I still have troubble, its sending the file but the date trasfer it's block, I'm the only one to have this problem?

Hi... Dont know if it is msn live or tomtom 6 since i installed them about the same time but the battery on my exec now shuts down when the battery reaches around 46%???.... as anyone else experienced this??

I made the same mistake as many on here, deleted contacts out of the phone's contacts and it has deleted all of my messenger contacts.


I did the exact same thing. If you haven't figured it out already, on Windows Live Messenger (PC version) goto Tools>Options>Privacy, the list of contacts on your 'allow' list is the majority of contacts you had. Right click them and 'add to contacts'. There's no way to group highlight though.

Hope the next beta fixes this :evil:

I did install the beta-version of live messenger and it worked fine for a few days.
however after yesterday i get a message that my internetconnection on my vario does not work.
i'm for sure that it works cause yhe old messenger works fine and so does my internetexplorer.
so i'm wondering if anyone expirenced the same?

Last night my messenger died with the same symptoms as in the previous post.

Clearly either a new tester version of messenger has been released or Microsoft are able to work out that we aren't BETA testers. Either way I'm a bit gutted, since I now have to go back to Agile, which in comparison is a huge bag of poo.

I tried searching for official information from microsoft about Live Messenger Mobile and found NOTHING. Is it a big secret? Seems rather strange since the Beta version I had worked seamlessly - it could just as well have been a release version, so if it's THIS NEAR completion why are they so hush hush about it?

Does anyone know whether we'll have to pay for live messenger when it comes out?

Yes i got either a server fault or internet connection fault error. My connection is not an issue - i have used a direct connection through Activesync and a wifi connection, as well as HSDPA and 3G through T-mobile. The Windows Live Mobile service still connects fine - I just can't connect to Live Messenger.

Standard Mobile Messenger (the rubbish one) is fully-functional, as is Agile Messenger. Whether standard Mobile Messenger uses different servers to the Live Beta i don't know; but on the face of it it looks like Microsoft have rained on our parade.

Any official Beta testers out there know of any new updates?

I've tried 3 different CAB files, including the most recent one on here. All have the same disappointing outcome.

Theres no point trying to connect with the current beta: it simply doesn't work - its no coincidence that everyone suddenly can't connect anymore!

Save your time and wait till some angel gives us an updated CAB file. Your internet connection per ce is NOT what's preventing you accessing messenger.

I don't understand why microsoft don't just release the new BETA to everyone like they did with the full version. I especially don't understand why they've stopped us even being able to apply to be a BETA tester for it now - I didn't even HEAR about this program till it was too late, and i've BETA tested plenty of things for Microsoft in the past.

I seem to remember when I first put the new beta on last week that it displayed personal messages from other people (though I may be wrong).

In either case, it certainly doesn't seem to show others' personal messages when I sign in on my Exec. Did it ever? Will it ever?

Hello everyone, im new as you can see :-) my name is arjen and im from holland, 22 years of age and not very skilled in xda design in fact, i consider myself quite a nublet, i dont know how to install a mobile messenger, or maybe it isn't really possible yet.

Recently my father bought a nokia N95 and want a mobile messenger installed on it as an app.
Guess who gets to figure it out... Yup!! me again :S but i did so anyway and after looking on the device's browser for some time it brought me here.
it has a 1G mem card in it but what i dont get is this, the unpacked file i downloaded here is about 2G in size while the packed version is just under 1G
I can't unpack i on the device itself and cant transport it to the device from my pc cause it will be too big when its unpacked.... no?

And when i open it on the pc there is one .xml file and when i open it, it just shows me the script as it would be commanded like an installer does.

Can someone help me please, i rly dont know what to do :S
