I dropped my JAM and now my screen is cracked. I want to replace it but don't know how. Has anyone done this before?

I'm doing it, ten times a week... fortunately, those PDA are not mine ;). What are you interesting in?

So, if you see black spots on image, or no image at all - you have broken LCD, so, you need spare display assembly. If your image is clear, but you see crack on glass and system does not recognize your taps properly - you need only touchscreen to replace - it's much cheaper, however, you need some soldering experience to do it successfuly.

Please note, there are two different kind of displays on Magician. To recognize, you need to open your PDA and see label on the back of display (not a PDA case).

Then you can order right part and when it will arrive - open your PDA, disconnect and remove display and then change touchscreen, or whole display assembly.

It's not a rocket science, however, if you are not experienced with electronic devices at all, it's better to find a buddy, who is more experienced and can do a repair.

Yeah, from your description, it looks like I need to replace the touch screen. Are there different types of touch screens? Anyway, I've soldered before (but a long long time ago). I'm sure I can pick it up again, but I guess I just want to know what tools I need. Do I need to buy a?:

soldering iron
solder
special screw driver to open JAM
etc.?
