Has anyone installed the WWE version of Dopod 838 Pro into Dopod CHT9000 Traditional CHinese version. Tks.

...and before people dogpile on you and tell you to SEARCH,
I'll tell you what to search for: "HERMES" with "language"
The easiest thing for you to do is use the latest WWE (English) ROM from your part of the world.
The installation trick is that it WILL fail. Don't disconnect or touch the machine... close the install tool on the PC and run it again.
In Asia? Use the English Dopod ROM. Later you can experiment and settle on something more stable.
I currently use the i-mate ROM but with the DOPOD Extended ROM (most of it) because I'm in Asia (TW) and need the local provider's customizations.
I had to reset before it installed the i-mate (UK) stuff.
A good place to start is here: The Hermes Wiki...

Thanks for your suggestion. I know that there will be an issue with the keyboard as the placement of some keys is different and I'm also aware that the registry can be modified to reflect this.
The Dopod 838 PRO WWE version has been released throughout Asia except China & Hong Kong. Perhaps Hong Kong has a whole bunch of 818 in stock that they want to get rid of.
I've been checking the Expansys site everyday, hoping to buy the Dopod 838 Pro WWE version but all they have is the CHT9000 version. This wait is really testing my patience.

Yes, I just bought a CHT 9000 (which already had English operating system installed) in Hong Kong.
I have upgraded the ROM with the most recent WWE from Dopod Asia - just follow the instructions for upgrading and it will work fine.
With a registry hack you can map the keyboard easily - that just leaves you with 2 problems:
- finding one in Hong Kong (PM me if you need to know where to find one)
- HTC quality/early adopter problems

Can you still type Chinese (Traditional and Simplified) if you flash CHT9000 WWE?

CE-Star and Monster are two compatible choices.
Installed on English ROM both provide Simplified and Traditional Chinese display and support all major SIPs.
Maction confirmed for me that Monster Chinese does not support the hardward keyboard.
From Yak86, I found Mobem's CE-Star v2.8 DOES support the TyTN's built-in hardware keyboard. If you don't need handrwriting recognition, just get the standard edition... and they accept paypal ;-)
Cheers
